Once you do that 2.4s can do some amazing stuff. Higher power carts are easier, but they have real costs and discourage learning the skills really necessary to get what you want on demand.

Can't stress how true this is. When I got my persei I got it without any carts, so I got a 1.5 2x 2.4 and 2x 5.0. After I got my O-PHOS that really helped me figure out how to work with the 2.4's.

I guess it's nice having the 5.0's around but honestly I thought I was a lot better at using this thing than I really was!

Oh yeah I didn't have to sell my Persei to pay for insurance so it's all good, I bought another 5 pack of 2.4's on sale, really should get a couple more AW 18650's!

The only thing that matters when it comes to your first question is an adapter. The Persei is 601, so any 601 threaded device will work. Alternatively, you can buy 601 to XX adapters, so really you can use anything you want as long as you know what thread it is and, if needed, buy an adapter.

The only other cartridges to use with your Persei, IMO, are the clear CE4 atomizers for Pure Gold or otherwise runny oils, and the Thermovape Dart Cartridge, which is hard to find. The Dart is great for Pure Gold as well, I think, but is a lot less volatile than an Omicron cartridge.

For Dry Flowers, the best device currently available is the Bender. It's on D9V's site. It's all glass, requires 7.4v, and reportedly has the best taste of any portable out there today.

You can clean your cartridge in limited ways. Some here will say you can ISO soak a cart, but I haven't tried it, or wanted to. They're tricky little devices, so further tinkering can easily fuck them up. There is a method I have tried to great succes: get a needle / paper clip / etc and heat it up til it's glowing red; insert red hot needle gently in to the shaft on the top of the cartridge (they call this the flue); rotate and move up and down slightly and very gently if you have a big clog; afterwards, you can do the same to the bottom hole, but make sure not to force the hot rod too deeply, as the bottom hole has less area to be cleaned.

I don't think this will help you with the strain tasting. If you put .5 oil, .2 is going to have to remain in the cart to lubricate it. Your next fill will sit on top of this .2, and until you finish that, it will taste like the first strain. When you reach the new oil, it will start tasting like the new one.

I have a question for my friend who is having trouble with his Persei. He is using the SS tube with the short 3.7v and he says that his Persei won't turn off. He has taken the battery out and waited for a few minutes, put the battery back in, but the same thing happens. The continually fires in the just stays on. Any ideas what might be wrong?

He said the double top worked, but the single top immediately turns on and stays fired on. I'm guessing he might have to send this one back since it is only been one month old.

he might want to try cleaning all the contact points between the cart and the persei head (the threading) with iso alcohol on a cotton swab and use the dry side to help dry it a bit and clean any crud out the threads. Make sure no cotton gets left behind. I find my single head acts funny when i havent cleaned the thread in a while.

Had to open my first ticket on D9 this past week. I noticed that my Hammer rod was crooked, and after looking at it closer found that it was loose as well. Opened a ticket and within 2 days was asked to return the item and there would be a replacement sent out. I cant tell you how nice it was to have that situation squared away at that moment, I had been stuck in the airport for 4 hours by that point, and good customer service always puts a smile on my face.

new nibbler discovery. while hitting my dual top i wondered, can i get my nibs and this to mate?
short answer, yes
suggested process.
remove bottom of nibbler, rub o-rings with joint wax or similar lube if you haven't already (helps in general with removal replacement)
pinch dual top rubber nipple and shove thru bottom of nibs. replace glass tube.
now to keep seal and water from splashing up, either press down while hitting, or pull slightly to seal around nipple. with persei held upright, it has even held on, albeit at a bit of a crazy angle

HEEEEEELP!!! Just my new persei and hercules herb chamber. I put in single large battery and single top, but something is wrong. The light stays on like the button is being pressed already when the top is screwed on and it smells like burnt plastic...

It sounds like your Hercules might have been faulty. I'm guessing its the 3.7 v Herc? Did yu accidentially use it on a 7.4v setup?

If you did nottm accidentally use it on the 7.4v setup, it sounds like the Hercules itself is defective. Can you put a cartridge on and dothe tops work correctly tthen?

Great to hear they took care of you. It's been from December 1st when I asked for help until May 20th (today) to get a replacement unit. Thats 10 days short of 6 months to get a replacement. I dont wish that on anyone.

Ill hooked up with DubCRider today and he dropped off a Herc. I just finished cleaning that thing and I know see what some of the folks here were complaining about oil leaking out of the chamber. There was a ton of oil in the thread area below the chamber in that unit. There was a dab or two's worth in there. Took a while to loosen all the gunk up but after a session with ISO and q-tips its sitting in front of the fan drying while I charge the batteries.....

Guys, are there official cleaning instructions or a video anywhere?

I "tried" the hercules on the one setup. 3.7 with one single large battery. I never even got a hit. Insta-fried or something...Are these things really that finicky? lol

I understand your frustration, but please try not to post back to back (to back), hit the edit button bro.

From what I gather, you put in an 18650 battery, screwed on the single top and tested the button out, it lit up blue, you screwed on the Hercules, and it stayed blue. Same with the double top afterwards.


So, a couple of ideas:
I take it you're using the normal Persei body, the one with the adjustable battery platform. Make sure the nipple of the battery is level to or only slightly above the rim of the Persei body and no further. If the nipple is well above the rim of the body, that's likely the problem.

Secondly, check the threading on the Hercules and compare it to the threading on one of the included 5 ohm carts you received for any differences. If there aren't any, check to see if the problem is how much you're screwing the cart in. Make sure you're not forcing it past the first sign of resistance. Also, if it auto-fires still, unscrew it slightly until the light isn't on. Try heating up your Herc after that.

Lastly, the "plastic" smell may be fixed if you try the "breaking in" process. Here's instructions from FriedBanana8:

I have the 7.4 hercules and i was told to clean it out and perform the breaking in process. I dont know if the same exact process applies to the 3.7v hercules but here it is:
After an iso cleaning and boiling of certain parts of the hercules and drying, you want to attach the hercules to the persei with good batts you perform the breaking in process
(1) hold the button down blue for 30 seconds
(2) let it cool down for a minute. (perform steps 1 and 2 5times)
then you're hercules should be good to go.
I use mine with mostly oils, but works just fine with kush flowers.
I remember having very similar problems as to what you're experiencing yourself, but after breaking it in and with time and repeated use ive found the hercules to perform faster and more on point. Im happy with it now and it delivers vapors within 15 seconds and thats with oils which takes even higher temperatures to vape than herb.
