Can someone post a pic of of where the set the rod in their herc Sr74x? Also mine wouldn't fire/heat up, so I'd remove it from the mod, and screw it back in. Worked fine after I did that. Don't know why that happened.

I just got a little oil in the second chamber and on the threads of the second chamber. Going to do a total disassemble iso wash everything. What's the best way to clean a rod? Also do you guys keep that silver screen in the mouthpiece? I noticed a little oil accumulates there. Finally, what does a coil with a proper buffer look like? I think seeing that would solve a lot of my issues.
I have a constant nice little pile of oil on top of the coil and when I start to see more coil, I drop more wax in there. Its like a tiny puddle coated around the top coil layer. I do still use that silver screen, I clean it by ISO dipping a q-tip or two and use that on the mouthpiece on both sides, then let it dry. I personally don't clean the rod too often unless it becomes black (usually from friend usage) since taking out the coil and dry burning the rod makes the wax in the top chamber walls melt down. I'm usually too lazy to scoop out every last bit though. A little oil around the threads is pretty normal in my experience, I don't really clean that until it gets hard to turn since it still works regardless.

To clean the rod I soak it in ISO and boil it with all the other parts. When I put kief and bubble in my herc, it did get some build up. That was the only time I had to use a butane torch with a small flame then gently scraped the carbon off. ISO if needed. The final clean happens when I reassemble the Herc and hold the button till that rod is glowing HOT. This does 3 things: cleans the rod, checks proper operation, and gets all the water out before putting the coils and loading with oil.No need to measure spacing. The entire white band should be showing with the 71 and 74x.

I don't have exactly the same problem, but the black wick cart that came with mine stopped working in the okeanos. Works perfectly when I take it out of the okeanos base and put it directly on the top. My 7.4 wouldn't screw in tight enough, but I had a spare ti1 cart that screwed in and worked perfectly. Haven't had an issue since then, it's been in the back of my mind though. I still love it, even ordered some backup 7.4's hoping one of those will fit.

I got it so hot it melted the threads. Let's just say hard learning curve for me.
I have 2g's in the 74 and still can't get solid hits. I had the button pressed for over 5 minutes and got small hits. Took apart 74 and can't find any of the 2g... gonna take a break for a while.

I picked up a Nibbler XL from Planet Vape, since they've been sold out for a while at W9. As commonly reported, I could not get a good seal with the supplied o-rings. I tried both dry and with some Toob Loob, but no luck.
I had some of these lying around, http://amzn.com/B000FMWO8O, and they sealed great. Once I switched to these o-rings, I had an amazing session with my core and 7.4 Hercules rod. So many ways to enjoy the Herc, but so far the Nibbler plus Core setup is my favorite.

Is any part of it damaged besides the threads? It's a lot more likely you put the PTFE shield on backwards. The text on the shield should be at the bottom, towards the threads that go into the Persei. Those are fine threads. The top of it where the mouthpiece goes has coarse threads.
If you put 2 grams in there no wonder it didn't work. That's way overloaded. The most the Hercules can hold is one gram and that's if you're using it with 2 coils.

The text is on the bottom. I started with 1/2 then put another 1/2 then repeat again twice over 20 hits or so. I never got solid hits ever
I thought when I took it apart I would find lots of oil but none was found.

You're saying that oil has disappeared? You put it in the Herc and it didn't go in your lungs and it didn't go in the reclaim chamber? Where do you think it went? At any point when you kept adding oil did you pull apart the chambers or check the resistance of the Herc? Did you try using just the stainless steel portion without the bottom adapter or heat shields?

2.4Ω for 3.7V. After you learn how to load, draw, and use that one, you could try a 1.5Ω cart, and a 5Ω for 7.4V.
However, you aren't going to get the type of output from an EO cart as you are from a KISS. If you think that, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Is it bad if I hear the oil bubbling while using the Sr74x? I have to do 2-5 minute cool downs to prevent clogging. Should I store the herc sideways to help prevent clogging? I'm getting good results only keeping a buffer of oil in the herc and load per session.

Is your oil runny? What consistency? Bubbling could be unpurged oil... or it could just be an overloaded herc. Vape till it gets wispier and see if the flavor goes south or the bubbling stops.
the instructions are on the website. On the instructions page... there is some variance to the sr71 rods. My original rod was 1.5. I actually sought out a higher resistance rod and do prefer it (my 2nd is a 1.7 or 1.8 ohm) as 1.5 is super freakin powerful.

My bho is an oily wax, that turns to an amber oil when melted in the herc. When I vape away to the point of bad taste (vaping the buffer), the gurgling goes away. But I think I was over heating.
I've had bad experience with all things ejuice related that weren't an RDA
