Hello, I just got a Mighty, and I wanted to know if I can load half a bowl without the liquid pad. Will it make a mess? What's the least amount you can load without the liquid pad?

I read that the liquid pad scratches the bowl, and that it gets hard to clean after because of that. Also, some people say that the liquid pad doesn't last long because it starts to affect the taste after some time, and even cleaning it with iso alcohol won't remove the bad taste. How long does it last?

Thanks.

Might have to pack it up because conduction heat. Why the pad is there to fill the air gap, I believe. I’m a noob as well though so m not certain. I use the liquid pad and it seems fine. Why not just get the dosing Capsules? They will keep it even cleaner.

This is just a little update/review for anyone reading this, debating if they should but a Mighty.
New to the forum and to the entire vape scene. This is my Mighty story:

Two fantastic user reports. Coincidentally from opposite ends of the user spectrum, in some ways. Kind of content I come here to read. Thank you both so much. Bravo!

Btw, what's a good source for the capsule version of the liquid concentrates pads?

Something to keep in mind is that it's not good for the material to be loose enough to swirl around in the chamber (also not great for super-tight pack, which restricts air flow and can prevent thorough extraction). There are several ways to achieve this.

For half-bowl folks, I think dosing caps are an ideal solution. And, yes they do keep chamber cleaner.

There's also the 'top screen' method. Take a standard Mighty-size screen (regular or fine) and make a single cut with scissors from a point on the edge directly to the center. This allows the screen to become smaller diameter and press fit in the chamber over a small load. You can also do it as two cuts, making a small 'v', creating a Pac-man look.

I can usually think up enough 'needs' to make a purchase over $25 at S&B website, which makes U.S. shipping free. Extra c/u, screens, wear and tear kit, capsules, etc.
VAAS!

I never tried a small load in my Crafty without a spacer. But I don’t like the pad. I use a screen.
Cut a wedge out of the screen so it looks like pac man. Pull the two edges together so it makes a cone and use it as a spacer on top of you load.

It works great and much cleaner than using the pad.

Enjoy!

I definitely like the idea of using a screen instead of the LP for small bowls. Do you make a cone with the screen to avoid scratching the bowl?

Thank you.

Nevermind, I get it (the pressure). I had to try it ;)

Have a good day, thanks.

Great suggestion. I forget to go straight to S&B.

It turns out S&B has in stock now an 8 capsule carrier + 8 capsules + 8 (!) capsule size liquid pads for under $10, that's less than 2x the price for 4 capsule sized liquid pads alone.

IMHO nothing wrong with microdosing a sprinkle of material loose inside a dosing capsule, without pad. It may fly around, but stays well contained inside the capsule. It's more of a convection than conduction experience, takes a few more draws than with a pad topper, but the Mighty certainly has the power to fully extract. And sometimes, when microdosing, it's nice to take a handful of draws, at a range of temperatures, rather than to hit it and quit it.

I like the dosing capsules. My first few weeks with the Mighty I didn't use them. I enjoyed using the loading tool.
The capsules keep my Mighty cleaner. It's interesting, the capsules seem to never get dirty but the lids I am constantly cleaning.
I think where the hot lids touch the (relatively) cold cooling unit you get alot of vapor condensing.

Not a mystery...
the lids are in the direction that hot air/suction is flowing.... so naturally they take the filtration load.
You will only (with convection vapes primarily, but in the end all vapes.....)
...have cleaning at the surfaces facing the airflow, but little to no cleaning in the air path directly nearest the heat moving forward.
The physics makes great sense.....
the oils, sublimates, and herbal deposits will be on the final surface, on it's way to your lungs.

I just use capsules and have for a long time. You can remove the cooling unit screen if you use the capsules with no real problems. We mostly vape rosin in our mighty, so the cooling unit gets gooey with golden resin, that of course you can put on a liquid pad and continue the circle.

And as long as I'm at it when you clean your mighty's cooling unit, I like to put it in a plastic bag and cover the parts in Iso alcohol, then put the bag in hot water for a few minutes and swirl it around. A tip I picked up here that works great. Rinse well, dry and your good to go.

Our mighty is now 40 months old and the batteries are only good for 3-4 bowls before recharging. Soon I'll send it in for another mighty. Still love it after 40 months.

Btw great post above introducing yourself! Welcome to the mighty nation.

So unfortunately after only 1 week of using my new Mighty the casing where the cooling unit screws into
the Mighty is cracking and is chipping away. RMA has been initiated.
Unreal!!

I'm on year 4 with my mighty and have had zero issues. It really is a great portable vape.

interesting, not even a crack or chipping on the case where the cooling unit sits? way to go!!!
my first one "chipped" after 2 years (1 session/day) not much but enough to get annoyed by it....
now 1 year with the new one, it's still good , but i'm already thinking to get a spare case somehow....(if s&b sells them as spare parts)
without sending in the unit.

On year 4 here too. Serial number 78** My mighty does have a few chips, and some missing fins near the top. But they started after I started using rosin at 410F everyday. So it's only been a year. Up till then it was pretty much like new. It's still fully functional, but the batteries are getting tired.

Like I mentioned soon I'll send it in and get another. Even though 3+ years have passed, in my biased opinion there still isn't a better portable vape.

I’ve been a mighty owner for about 3years now..first one was stolen..and 2nd too..but ended up getting the 2nd one back..which is a few months from warranty being over..I went ahead and initiated and rma as I’ve been having some power button issues lately and super slow heat up times so gonna get this puppy either put into the garage or hopefully just replaced as s and b has always been great to me. My big dilemma as what am I gonna do for at work and on the go until I get it back..i have plenty of portables but none get me where I wanna be though..I have it finally packed up which took days..I would clean it and use it..lol..but the one thing about my mighty after serious use and it being my daily driver and I have big boys for desktops but I use the mighty a lot..it smells so strong..no matter what I put my mighty in.. it make that item reek balls! I mean it strong as fuck..

I hope they take care of me, I have never dealt with S&B. Im very delicate with this vape so I dont know how this could of happened. Did you have to send in your defective unit to S&B before they sent you a replacement?

I've been sampling several different strains. I noticed sometimes I can get 15 hits off a filled capsule other times maybe 6.

I need to start paying attention to that and figuring out what the look and feel is of the types that just seem to keep giving.

Along those lines, for maximum efficiency, dry or moist herb? Grind it fine, medium or coarse? I haven't found anything yet that simply doesn't work. I'm sure there is a best practices though.
