@biohacker That's what I thought but apparently not. That's why I'm so pissed. They replied to me about half hour ago saying

"We will repair your device, but it may need servicing again in the future.

Our Warranty dose not cover failures do to wear and tear. "

I already sent back a lengthly message saying how battery being exposes etc is not wear and tear.

@vapviking it must be because of that then, my unit was pretty dirty from a year and a half of use.

But originally they were going to charge me 60 dollars for wear and tear, but they didnt after i had provided previous invoice. I don't understand how you completely miss their malpractice. but oh-well.

USA, Germany has great customer service from what i hear, but germany has better consumer protection laws.
The part of my post you are quoting and responding to was written to another member, not to you. Sorry for confusion, see above.

You had the casing that was so open you could see the battery inside, right? well, crap, that alone should yield a free replacement; I think they took a chance at recouping something on the battery. After all, you did use it and it may be nearing its' end. However, your reasonable protest may yet bring a reasonable resolution.

From what I've read, I think I'd just ask them to fix the warranty items for now. It's your first claim, when others (me!) have had multiple new units! They may just soften enough and do the right thing. If not, you'll at least have a functional unit back. Soon you'll be out of 2yr warranty anyway and maybe you can replace your own battery, if you are so inclined.
Best of luck!

That is what I will be doing with my unit once warranty flops. I cannot believe they charge 120 dollars for batteries/labor to clip 2 batteries in

Cheers. Yes the battery was showing (it's white by the way). But I snapped it back together and every since it stayed put. But it's obviously weak. I have contacted VaporNation, the distributor from which i purchased the mighty, and told them the situation. They said they are going to speak with their contact at S&B.

Also, does nobody answer the motherfucking phone at S&B? I want to reach through the phone and strangle this automated voice.

I go where the thrills are
If u want more convection properties...pack a full bowl without tamping down.

Although, IMO, it's the voodoo mixture of conduction and convection that makes the Mighty precisely so effective and amazing. I wouldn't wanna lessen the proportion of either side of this near-magical hybrid equation....the Mighty manages to deliver the best of both conduction (big hits, even, no-stir cooking, thorough extraction) and convection (great flavor) with none of the downsides of either.

Ye i agree Storz dialed it in just right. I don't think it's built for longevity but the experience. Think of these like Iphones...and most people get a new one every 2 years.

Just got an automated email from Fedex about a shipping label from S&B, but I haven't heard back from S&B yet. Says the package weight is 3 lbs. Does anyone have the weight of a new mighty box for reference?

Edit: My last message to them in case anyones interested
"
Hi,

I received a notification from Fedex but haven't heard from you.

To summarize why I should qualify for a replacement...

1) I'm within the two year warranty period, and have never ONCE filed a claim. Not ONCE since Nov 2014.

2) Mine has defects covered by the warranty. The housing SPLITS and BREAKS, exposing battery, as well as a ERR004. Additonally the housing is chipped all over the place.

3)These problems were ACKNOWLEDGED with the updated Mighty with reinforced housing, released mid 2015. Many member with chipped/cracked housings received these new models.

This should be CUT and DRY. This is a TEXTBOOK warranty issues.

More than anything, I am disappointed that I am being treated like a second-class citizen. All I hear is glowing reviews about your Customer Service, people getting their cracked units replaced, etc. So I'm not mad, just disillusioned that the company I held in such high esteem is not treating their customers right

I want to be yet another one of those voices and continue to support S&B and vouch for them, but that depends on the outcome of this case.

Thank you"

As Slow Draw says, apples and oranges are tough to compare. Most diets require both. :p

Mighty: easy, automatic, very good flavor, very session-based, perfect for more than person, unrestricted draw. Ugly, plastic, pain in the ass to clean. Bit of a weed hog thanks to conduction, not all that portable or stealthy. Amazing vape, but not for all applications.

FF2: easier than FF1, but still manual, requires intervention. Unparalleled flavor, great for small loads and single-use, somewhat restricted draw, extremely conservative, no waste whatsoever. Dead easy to clean, takes 1/10th of the time to maintain over the Mighty. Perhaps the most beautiful and sleek portable on the market. More portable by far than the Mighty. Again, amazing vape, but not for all applications.

Choice between the two? Good luck. I wouldn't live without either.

I agree, Currently I use 5 devices almost everyday and sometimes throw in a 6th or 7th for fun! The Evo and Enail w/Liger do it at home for the most part with Daisy jumping in for fun.
And in my vape case everyday there is a Mighty, a Milaana, and a Vapman. If I am going to a concert or something sometimes I will grab the Haze and 8 pre-loaded cans and replaceable batteries. But that's only because I don't have the Mighty pods yet I bet!

When my friends and sister ask why I need so many vapes, I tell them did you only smoke joints before? Or did you use a Pinch hitter sometimes, a bong others, then bowl. Not to mention the slightly different highs and vape signatures I get from each. There is not perfect vape, only a perfect rotation of vapes! :2c:

Just got word from S&B that they approved my request to upgrade from a Crafty to a Mighty! After 3 failed Cratfys since November 2014 I'm looking forward to having the same great vape tech in a more reliable form factor.

Quick question: How well does the Mighty fit in standard Levi's jeans pockets? I occasionally used my Crafty on the go and am hoping to continue this with the Mighty.

At least someone gets good service. If you dont mind how much did you pay to upgrade? And did they ever charge you for the crafty replacements?

EDIT: Oh and if they already gave you the fedex tracking info: Can you please check and see the listed shipping weight (4th from the top on left column on tracking info).
Cheers:leaf:

I upgraded to a Mighty after two Craftys suffered from broken housing. Mighty is great but not for Jean pockets imo...got the Pax2 + GH for out, depending on the circumstances

$60 for the Mighty upgrade. Both replacement Craftys were shipped out at no cost but I never had cracked housing or dead batteries. In all 3 cases the units stopped heating and sometimes had the yellow and red flashing lights. Just payed the upgrade invoice today so I don't realistically expect it to ship until Monday but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it gets out today so it can at least start making its way through the postal system over the weekend.

It should fit, unless you're into tight jeans.

Certainly not a tight jeans guy! No biggie if it doesn't fit though. My Crafty was used at home 99% of the time. Probably blasphemous around here but I usually roll joints for the rare toke in public. The joys of living in the PNW!

I had posted several times about my difficulty getting some repairs done on my Mighty. Forms and emails were not returned. Well, I was finally able to get ahold of them via the oakland address. They said they had been replying to my emails and forms but no idea why I did not receive them. Maybe my ISP was blocking the americas address.

Anyways, I just received my replacement mighty and I'm now a happy camper. Sorry for all the bad press as the Mighty is an awesome vape and I'm now happy that I am able to contact S&B.

@nb8475 every time I have heard of someone having service denied at Oakland for housing, it was because the housing was split and exposed...when mine have failed like this (twice) I sent it in with a rubber band around it...

My theory is: when they receive cracked housing they treat them like drops unless you tell them the housing chipped piece by piece

Also bringing up battery life as a reason for return will almost always trigger a need to charge for replacement deal...

I have never cleaned the mighty before sending it either.

They have given me some runaround and I hate S&B okaland...but if you know how to word things it helps ease some of the pains.

I'd also be willing to bet 100% they sent you a new unit.

Edit: this was from my last time...they sent me a new unit too

@WakeAndVape

Thanks for the diligence.. Well, I did tell them the housing cracked and chipped through normal use, and was careful with my wording. I might have done myself a disservice by sending too much info. I also was careful to not mention the battery life.

So you're saying when you ship it in with a rubber band around it they treat it differently? That's odd.

I wish I could be as confident as you I'm receiving a new unit. Your picture gives me hope; my package is 1lb heavier than that. However, per the last message I received from S&B I will not be getting a new one:

"We will repair your device, but it may need servicing again in the future.

Our Warranty dose not cover failures do to wear and tear. "

Been looking for the easy flow 18mm adaptor. Where can this be purchased in the states? Looking to use a hydratube with the mighty.

Is there a sub area for adaptors and such?

Their warranty doesn't cover wear and tear...but breaking is not a result of wear and tear (or shouldn't be if the unit was made correctly)

Not sure if the rubber band does anything...but I have heard of multiple people with badly split housing, reporting S&B charging them for 'repairs'

Everytime I have shipped mine back it was due to cracked housing and have never been charged (though the rest of the CS carousel was absolute shit).

If they do send it back (the original)...keep telling them your getting err004 and hot when charging.

I'm sure they have tons of housing on deck...but I don't think S&B Oakland repairs much more than that in house... so if it's more involved they will generally send you a new unit.

Only time will tell though...you will win in the end if your patient.

...but you will surely feel the sting of a top notch product with mediocre backing.

Realistically speaking, from a financial investment prespective, if you put all your eggs in one basket, you are setting yourself up for failure.

As @mrbonsai420, has an arsenal of vapes, so if one were to fail him, he always has a backup while he has the option to dance the tango with the company in question.

Yes, it sucks that one should spend a good amount of money on a unit and then the unit acts up or doesnt seem as promising.

And yes it sucks if a company and or the customer service adds to the insult by not standing behind the product or not meeting your expectations.

Now, I am not bashing any company nor am I saying its the consumers fault, but as a consumer I believe that we have alot of power when it comes to buying things and even after what we buy does not result in a postive outcome. We always have choices.

If a felt a company wasnt up to par, I would simply stop dealing with them. Now, there are companies that make products that I love and that break down every now and then, but I love the products so much that I am willing to overlook the negatives.

Good luck to everybody has to go the extra mile to get the unit they are supposed to get and I hope you get what you are looking for.
