The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

The Mighty Car Adapter is now available on the S&B website for $19.90, even though the Price List says it will be $24.9. Let me say something was wierd with the store software because my CA purchase was supposed to be taxed at 8.125%, and the receipt says as much, however when I did the math I found the actual tax applied to my purchase was only 6.56% of the grand total price(excluding tax). Maybe one of the items I picked up was not taxable? It was strange.

Wow, the S&B representative told me the car adapter would be available this week, and I was anticipating another roll-out delay, but here at the end of the day on the end of the week they got it available like they said they would.

Oh I figured out what's with the tax math discrepancy--the store software is erroneously not counting the cost of the adapter as taxable. I do believe by purchasing it sooner than later, there is $5 of savings available, unless S&B exerts their right to modify changes. But I already placed my order, and I don't think they're likely to argue about nickels and dimes.

I should have added ,
I meant how accurate their temp sensors are .
S&B installed temp readings beyond their Max. temp setting .

Does any other vapes have that feature ?
Herbie or the EQ ?
Seems to be a real good sensor because the temperature stays within 2 degrees with a nice size inhale. It must be the same programming they use on the volcano digit because that has a ±2.7°F variation also.

MIGHTY KICKSTAND OPTION:

For everyone complaining about the Mighty not standing upright, fear not... I figured out a way! Remove that little orange toothpick looking stir tool from the bottom of the unit, rotate it 180 degrees, now stick it back in. Now you will see the other side of the lip extending past the perimeter. It will stand perfect now. I do it all the time and figured that was one of the pickers 'other' uses.

Oh yeah, good discovery there. But the device can still all to easily tip forward and impact on its face against the tabletop. Its just doesn't have enough stability for me to stand it up, because I'd knock it over too often, which I don't want to do. Fortunately, it doesn't really have to be upright ever, except perhaps when loading it, which can still be easily done anyways.

I just cannot believe they didn't design it to stand upright--like for loading it. Especially since it seems to have that odd (IMO) loading chamber that screws on. It would seem that having it stand upright would be an absolute must have..... what were they thinking?

That just happened...
If the bottom was completely flat it still wouldn't be that stable. They would have needed to add a larger base. Then it would be even less portable. Or if there was a folding stand it would be cumbersome folding it out of the way with each drag. It's a fine compromise to me and I've never once wished it could stand on end.

First new discovery of the day, the Mighty is very efficient at extracting the goods. ...
...
... Also happy to report that both screens still look brand new with no sign of debris or leftover ABV.
*Edit*
...
...Happy to report the Mighty cools the vapor so much that by the time it gets to the mouthpiece my lips do not feel any hint of heat.

It really does do a great job of focusing its extracting powers on that small bowls-worth of bud (I've gotta Crafty).

re: Screens. I swapped in the fine screen (from the extras bag) in the bottom of the cooling unit,
in hopes of keeping it, and the vapor, cleaner. I always use a fine screen on the Volcano, and the valve only gets honeyed, not covered in cellulose-y gunk.

I wouldn't be surprised if the larger cooling unit on the Mighty does an even better job than the Crafty's. I ordered a Mighty as well, and hope I can use its cooling unit on the Crafty.

happy vaping

My original Davincis display shoots way up above it's max temp, can watch it go up to 428f when it recovers after a hit when its set at it's 405F max. Vapes like it gets up there too.

I just realized another idea: When the device is lying on a flat surface, on its back with its face up, the device will balance with neither the left side nor the right side touching the table. If your flat surface is not level, it may tip to the left or right. But on a level flat surface, the thing lies flat with minimal points of contact on the table--just the center line spine of the heat-sink ribs are touching the table. This probably allows for better cooling of the heat-sink mechanism.

So forum users can throw out design ideas like a vertical stand all they want, but I think the design behind The Mighty has been very well-developed by the manufacturer. Look at how few design changes have occurred to the Volcano since it was originally released.

So in the name of science :science: I've been testing out different bowl sizes and temperatures so I could have a little more useful info to pass on.

Yesterday I vaped in the 170c-179c area. Low temp vaping is awesome on this vape and I plan to take the temp even lower today with the half bowl method I am trying. So far though in that range the flavor has been amazing and vapor cloud sizes have not decreased as much as I thought they would from the 180c-190c temps I had been working with previously. The best news is however is that you can extract all the goods at this temp. I took the ABV from the 170c range and loaded into the og cloud ticker and got once again practically no vapor (And once again so little that it is not worth it). Very good IMO for those who like low temps but still want the goods.

So far today, I've been experimenting with filling the bowl halfway and using the concentrate pad to take up the rest of the space. I don't have a scale currently but I can tell you what looks like the bowl have filled to me is exactly one packed UD nylon stem. This method with the concentrate pad and the vape set at 178c is producing very nice hits with great flavor. I am getting about 5-6 really nice hits (Or IMO what are nice hit) and the bowl is spent.

Thats all to report for now. :science: continues. One last thing is that I am have not let my battery discharge below half so far but my estimate would be 8-12 bowls with 5-8 hits per bowl based on my usage habits. This is just my initial estimate and may change as I use the vape more but so far I am pretty impressed with the battery life.

If anyone has any questions about any of this I'll try to answer as best I can. It is Football Sunday though, so no promises it will be today :ko:

I'll take mine "standing", thank you. That would be my preference: to keep the bowl-load level; to be able to view the LED readout at an acceptable eye level; to pick it back up more easily with a sure grasp without having to paw n pick at it; to be able to load the bowl with two hands; to use a whip hands-free; to allow for maximum all-around cooling while in operation; and because it just makes good plain common sense, IMO. An adequate kickstand could easily be tucked away without adding any bulk.

Yes, x2 to all of the above.
Especially don't want it laying down after the bowl is loaded and to load it sitting upright by itself,
and for all your other reasons too. Common sense--given a choice, wouldn't you want you vape to stand up by itself?

Yes, given the option I'd definitely want it to be free standing. There must be a logical reason for it though. I wouldn't be surprised if they had some units damaged in testing from toppling over. Only S&B knows for sure though. I can't imagine them simply overlooking this fact, especially since the Crafty can stand.

I would like to know the official reasoning though.

Like others have mentioned, some sort of stand (especially one custom made by @Ratchett) could be easily acquired.

Some folks really need their vaporizers to stand. They maybe using this for medical reasons not just recreational. Not that it isn't an important factor too. It would not be able to be used with a tube wt.

I think @Ratchett is going to need to find a solution for folks.

EDIT
I don't think people are being critical necessarily just seeing how this might fit into their lives. Sometimes people don't have two hands free to use with a vaporizer that's why having it stand might be important to them. This is a lot of money to spend. Only the early adopters can answer some of these questions. We appreciate those that were willing to shell out this kind of money before anybody had gotten a chance to review it.

The bowl is supposed to be packed full so that its loose enough to allow air flow but not loose enough to let the load shift around in the chamber due to gravity. Thus it should not matter if a full load is upright or not. Moreover, by laying it sideways one would prevent plant material from falling thru the bottom screen, and mucking up the heater, which would only help it stay cleaner and require less maintenance.

The device would also cool better laid down instead of upright, due to the phenomenon of heat rising--you might be familiar with it.

Also, any monkey could pick up the device from a flat position, which is why the criticism that it's more difficult to pick up the handheld device if its not upright fails to hold water.

The readability of the display in a horizontal or vertical position is easy enough for me, because if the device is close enough to reach out my arm and pick it up, then I can clearly see the LED display.

As to your idea of "good common sense" or how many hands it takes to perform manual tasks, I will regard those as your subjective opinions that are not for me to refute.

I guess folks will form all sorts of opinions and in fact on this forum some significant partisanism arises just like people picking the professional sports team they want to support.
