What is the benefit of the course screens vs the finer ones? Is there noticeable draw restriction when you use a finer screen? I just assume buy the finer ones to reduce particles getting through, but I did notice that my lotus shipped with a course screen.

If you have another coarse screen, you can just use both to get a "fine" screen. However, it gunks up a much faster than just a coarse screen or just a fine screen. I like vaping that gunk though, so it could be a hassle or bonus depending on your perspective.

I think I'll stay with the course for now. I'm not into taking the screens out and cleaning unless they're in really bad shape. I have found that a usual soaking of the Al stem in iso will get most everything off the screen and chamber. After soaking I just work a Q tip around in there and looks almost spotless. I also tend to tear up my nugs with fingers rather than grind

We are actually considering going away from the painted models and exclusively using natural and colored stains.
Anything that would have to be custom made, like inlays, would be a lot more expensive.

The natural look is my favorite. Best to keep the cost down then.

I'm really glad I went with the natural finish. It has a classy look. Other colored stains would be cool, but only if I could trade mine in for a nice burled walnut model

I think my next move will be the wpa and a j hook. I was thinking maybe a D020, but with my limited space to vape, I'd do better with a j hook first and then maybe add an ashcatcher to liven things up later. I want to see some milk white hits

The natural cap wears better, my black cap fell and chipped and revealed a bright white surface

To be honest, I hate ABV blowback when you release pressure from the hit (water settling can blow water up through the load, spilling your half finished load).

I didn't like the D020 with the Lotus very much. I actually more enjoy my lotus with a J-hook and a pinch of water to give it a natural perc action - the water adds a bit of moisture to smooth the hit, and the chug action is really soothing (almost enjoyable) kind of purring.

That sounds so wonderful...would those designs potentially include updated internals?

I like my natural cap with the wpa, but if I was to get a another lotus it would be the black cap with a black stem. A black stained cap may be even nicer if it's nice and dark.

People love it though, it is just not for me.

I had a black cap and dropped it a few times showing the undercoat so I rubbed it down while changing plate and now I have a natural one

I was thinking about repainting it maybe red gold and green but have not got round to it

Sadly, I don't think that's possible - the heat transfer wouldn't be there (the real heat of the nano is trapped inside the heating tube, too far away to efficiently transfer the heat to the cap (even if the nano were set to 10, I doubt it would work)

However, I have seen someone connect a firefly vaporizer to a lotus WPA to vape the load. But this bypassed the Lotus cap all together.

I think someone mentioned e-lighters for cigarettes, but the heat isn't high enough

Why would you ever do that??? Just bypass the Lotus cap and use the Lotus stem as a Nano stem...

So you can add water to a regular j hook like what they sell on the Lotus website? I have seen water used in j hooks that have a bulge in the hook area but didn't know it was possible in a regular shaped j hook. I figured there wasn't enough room for the water.

Sure you can - but seriously only a few drops of water (maybe 15mL total). You need to watch how you hold the J-Hook, but it does work VERY well.

The only problem I had with this setup was finding a place to hold the hook upright with water in it (between sessions), so I designed that 3D printed J-Hook stand (available on my store).

Sadly my Grav-Labs j-hook is no longer among the living, though I have two identical hooks on order with a local blower (though it's been almost 4 weeks, I'm starting to get REALLY annoyed with this local artist).

Well I'm glad I have the Lotus. My Firefly was sent back this weekend and god knows how long I'll be without it. I have to say that the Lotus is much easier when you need to get through a session. The FF you have to pry the lid and mix and then clear the ABV off the sticky glass and out from the little port grooves.

I really want to see the hit I take with the Lotus. The Al stem makes it hard for me to judge how the hit is coming along. I am feeling more like buying the j hook and the ash catcher above to get a better visual on how long to heat.
