You are more than right thinking about the J-hook @BabyFacedFinster ! The Lotus is so worth for the easiness in switching to : glass-stem, water tool, wood stem, ... you definitely enhance experience with choices. A friend bought a wpa-lotus-kit thinking he got a pipe with it : luckily he found some old bamboo pipe which just needed to be drilled for the wpa to fit.

Lotus need technique. The flame and environment can also play huge role. Even if I know I can rock the al-stem properly, it is much more comfortable having a visual feedback.

Don't forget, that to make the switch from a stem to a j-hook you will also need a wpa.

The lotus is pretty inexpensive as is. I just bought mine from the website. I've used a couple torch lighters with mine, including the one from the website. They all worked, just have to adjust the flame until you hit a sweet spot. It's not difficult.

I read somewhere that there was someone talking about nickel allergy.
I have some red spots around my eyes nobody can figure out where they come from.
So should i change the top plate just to make sure its not the lotus causing this....?

I'm pretty sure all the plates are made of the same materials, so changing plates won't do anything.

Have you tried to confirm it really is the nickle causing the problem? Why not try some scientific testing to confirm:
1) Try a different strain of cannabis, maybe what you're vaping is causing the irritation
2) Try a different vaporizer for a week or two and see if the problems persist.

Another possibility *might* be the butane. I found myself developing mild headaches after LONG sessions in my house with the Lotus - I confirmed the butane was the culprit by changing my vaporizer for a few weeks, and then I ultimately decided to only use my Lotus in ventilated areas if I'm doing extended sessions (a single short session in a closed room won't cause any problems) - I'm also more careful now to ensure I don't inhale unspent butane.

If you really think it's a nickel sensitivity and don't want to pay to get it tested, you could just try eliminating that particular sensitivity with an allergy elimination (NAET) specialist.

Okay its so that i have a mild sensibility to nickel, i know it because of a nickel part of a chain iritatet my neck.
But is that enough nickel i inhale to cause an allergy around my eyes?
I do not use just the lotus vape i even use my vapman, solo and life saber alot.

As far as i understood nickel allergy is an allergic contact dermatitis... but i am no doctor ... so you should get allergic reactionsnwhere you havencontact with nickel... so why do yo6 have allergic reactions on the eyes...

I don't think you're going to get the answer your looking for here. If you have a nickel allergy, and you suspect that it's causing alergic reaction, you may either want to talk to a doctor to make sure that's what's going on. Or maybe stop using the lotus until it goes away, then use it to see if it returns. However, theres a chance it could be something else. So if it persist, I would suggest seeing a doctor.

I have talked to my doctor weeks ago more than one time. First i got eye-drops for bakterial infections, it not worked. Then i got prescribed a cortisone cream which worked just as long as i used it.
It was just a stupid idea to ask you smart guys, maybe someone noticed the same deflektion.

I will not use the lotus for some time an see what happens.

Ps. With a heavy nickel allergy you should not smoke cigs because of the nickel content of the smoke can cause allergic reactions.

Its not a stupid idea to ask for opinions. Who knows, maybe someone has had a similar experience.

It just seemed to me like it was more of a medical situation and I wasn't sure if you talked to a doctor yet.

I'll tell ya what I really like most about the Lotus. It is just so convenient.

A couple of pinches off a bud, throw it in the bowl and snap the lid on. Hit it with a good hot torch and your sucking vapor in a few seconds. I haven't found a good portable torch yet. I use a Crème Brulee torch turned way down and get plenty, but not too much heat. In fact, I have yet to combust in it.

Anyway, then a few swipes with that built in poker and you all clear and ready to repack.

I only have the long Al stem and want to try the wpa and J hook next. I'll be ordering within the next week. I'm sure a little ash catcher is not too far off either.

My previous two plates developed pinholes at the base of the ridges. The plates were both slightly wrinkled at the point where the ridge was pressed and that's where the hole developed. Likely from slight over heating. The new design is free from wrinkles and seems to deliver a more even heat. I assume it's the exact same nickle alloy.

The new plate design is about 3 to 4 months old if memory serves me correctly

I was in the same boat with the lighters but since I got the V2 of the Lotus I decided to give the original Honests a second chance and never looked back. They cost so little but so few died on me… They made for a better experience. I have tried more expensive ones but Honests always won the match!

I miss my Lotus a bit… Crafty is the best vaporizer for me to have right now and checks most of my boxes but Lotus still has a couple of superior feats. Never run out of juice is one and the superior control of each hit and therefor overall better vapor production (for a Lotus expert) is the other one! I can't one hit the Crafty for sure!!!

I really hope I get another one in the future as I can't afford to have both right now…

I apologize in advanced because i know this question has already been asked multiple times but i just thought i would double check before purchasing.

Whats the current consensus on the short vs long stem? Is it still that both work great but the short is stealthier while the longer one is easier to see the spot on the Lotus plate? I am planning on going with the shorter one since I read both cool down the vapor well. Anything else I should consider or am I putting too much thought into this?

I would say that it probably matters how close you want the flame to your face, but I have the Jhook set so I can use my glass with it. So that's more of an assumption.

I like the old plates because the lines helped to find the center in the dark. Align the lines so that it makes a big + and just torch the center. IDK how well I would heat the new plates in the dark.
