RedEyeFlightControl here, to introduce the first vaporizer release from REFC-Labs.com

The JetDryV Gen 3 Wood Oven Module

This started as a personal project to design compact, modular oven for a multitude of use cases. The goal was first a highly performant, and second, extremely compact oven, designed to convert any glassware into a hard hitting desktop-class, portable, and battery free convection vape.

-A brief history-

I designed this oven backwards, from the inside out. Air pathing and the shape and fluid dynamics play a HUGE role in the efficiency and heat patterns in a wood oven. Since this is most critical to proper extraction, I focused on that first. Several Gen1s were designed and tested. Once the oven design was nailed down, the material design followed into Gen2. A small (~20) unit beta batch was released to a private group for testing and feedback. Feedback was then used to design gen3 (a small number of enhancements were added).

The current Gen3 JetDryV made its first public debut this past week. THe product launched Monday, Feb 8 2020.

-Current Status-

The JetDryV is manufactured in small batches released periodically as my time allows. Wood options vary per batch. Like many of the things that flow from my lab, I made this to meet my own expectations, and want to share it with others. As such, delivery completely revolves around my spare time to produce. JetDryV is sold in drops as they become available. Notifications go out to email subscribers first, then social media shortly after.

I also vend a number of vapes, accessories, and parts as well, including rigs, spare glass, torches, and an assortment of Custom Dynavap Titanium (one of my other specialties) as well as The Dignitarian Stem, a Vector-Tuned, Jetted Dynavap stem. My business is brand new and growing, so please check back from time to time as new products are added to the store.

I'll do my best to answer questions objectively.

Several reasons. I wanted something that sounded exactly like Jet-Drive as this is a Jet Driven vape. I also wanted a unique spelling that wasn't used anywhere else. This fit the bill.

JetDryV is short for just what it is - Jet-driven Dry Vape. I'm aware of the rinse agent Perhaps some nautical or aviation folks will think of it like I did. The vape itself is shaped like a jet engine.

When I hear Jet Drive the first thing that comes to mind for me is a high powered jet craft boat or plane.

I have one of these in walnut. Here is a video of me getting way too high on it:

The intake is more forgiving than other butanes I've tried, harder to combust. The unit is deceptively small and the oven is deceptively large, easily .5g+, if you so desire. Very easy to split the unit while using and stir. The mechanics of the oven make the overall vape very even. The unit does not pick up a lot of reclaim, it's very easy to use. The amount of vapor that it pushes into a piece is ridiculous. It fires vapor out of the bottom like it's being pump assisted.

I have a decent amount of experience with heavy vapes, including the E43 and Plenty/Volcano (two sides of the spectrum), I have not seen anything else whitewall a piece as fast as this can. I've also experience multiple other butane vapes and have not had an easy time picking up the technique as I have with this either (with the exception of the Noisy Cricket, which I would call this closest too functionally and size-wise without being the same experience). Besides using a flamethrower, a triple or strong single flame are very forgiving technique wise.

After having used the unit for a while now, I can honestly say I have no negative feedback, and only some constructive items. The integrated poker can get chazzed and make it difficult to close, you have to make sure the poker/stirer is clean before resheathing. That's it...

I have one of these and the first thought underwhelming. Meaning, it look so simple. I am a fan of Oconnell and have the Noisy Cricket which just rages. If you compare the Noisy Cricket to sticky brick the oven is significantly larger. I can show a picture if anyone cares.

The action is pretty strong.

I figured the same with the JetDryV but its different. I know Red and you see how much thought was put into. The shape of the oven changes the air flow. It hits strong but its smoother.

There is a built in pick and a small magnet. It has some play but that is thoughtful into it as well. It works pretty well. I have a v2 and just got my v3.

It is one of the most unassuming vapes that will significantly surprise you.

How many of you tried with a Flip Brick and found it so stubborn? This is a different category and similar form factor. Just works and really well.

cool idea, looks like an useful combination between Piro and Flip brick - with a nice twist of that stir tool on one side, magnet on the other, and I think this device is actually meant to be used with triple flame torch?! bigger radius of the intake than a Piro even

The recommended torch is a triple. I know of at least one individual who uses a quad and it works well, although a bit less forgiving than a triple. I've tried both single and doubles. You can bury a single with some lightweight results. I did not care for the double, it felt very blah. I don't know why. Just personal experience, mind you. I prefer a triple even on a dry j-hook. I find it easiest to get good vapor production and decent throttle control. Good torch discipline goes a long way.

I'm planning to do at least one batch a month. Current bandwidth is about 12-24 units per batch. This may change as my processes become more efficient as I'm always working on process improvement

Stopping by with a quick update - I have now added the "SaxDryV MPA" as an official module/component to the DryV series. It's a sax-shaped replacement for the WPA that allows the operator to have a j-hook experience. These are about 9" tall and come with a comfort/duckbill shaped tip. They're all hand-formed so they'll vary slightly in shape/angle.

The SaxDryV MPA can accept any oven module with a 1/2" or 12.7mm exhaust port

Very nice! If you are able to have these made with a 14/18 mm female connection (or even male would work for Firewood7 and Grasshopper) I think you would see quite a few orders from here, looks like a great jayhook and I love using those with all of my vapes! (PS your vape looks good too!)

Duly noted! Let me see what I can find with my glass suppliers. I make this product myself so it's just a matter of finding the right glass. The SaxDryV was sort of a "ok let's do this" kind of project, because I just wanted a simple mouthpiece, so why not.

Is there any way to find out more info about upcoming drops or get on a waitlist or mailing list? Also, any chance you still got some of those Rosewoods laying around?

That particular Patagonian Rosewood was the last single blank from a really choice beam I had misplaced until recently. I actually just sourced a new beam that has some exquisite graining and colors, so I may process one or two for my next batch. The base woods (cherry, maple, walnut) are far more popular because of price point, so batches will typically be predominantly domestic woods.

I'm a sucker for pretty wood, so I do a few types of exotics for each drop as well. These will change from time to time and wood availability.

Since I only make these in small batches as time permits, drops of them are periodically released. Newsletter subscription on my site is the only official advanced notice for drops, but I usually post to instagram once the drop is live. If the mods allow it, I would be happy to post drop alerts on this thread as well .

Thanks so much for the info, now I know I gotta be quick if I see something I like. Didn't realize how small batch your operation was when I stumbled across it. Can't wait to try one out for myself, but will be holding out for some more premium wood options, I'm a sucker for some good wood. I'm sure I'm not the only FC-er who would appreciate some advanced notice or even exclusive drops for your loyal fanbase

I'd be happy to post drop notices here once they go live. I'm a one man after-hours machine shop / lab and 12 to 24 units is a good balance to getting regular batches out in reasonable time periods.

Some woods to watch for (not necessarily In the next batch, woods I have in stock, not limited to)

Bubinga, Cocobolo, Kiln dried spalted maple, rosewood, black limba, canarywood, wenge, zebrawood, purpleheart - all stuff in the pipeline or in process. If anyone has any requests please let me know!

I'm very close to being able to offer laser engraving for the exterior of the oven. Need to do a bit more testing before I start frying competed customer units, but things are looking good.

If I forgot to mention,, I'm also offering a number of colored glass options, too!

I will definitely keep my eye out for the Cocobolo and rosewood. I am also partial to leopardwood and blackwood personally among others. Looks like the last Padouk sold out while we were chatting. Do you have a rough idea of how long it'll be before the next batch drops? Gotta make sure to keep my VAS in check until then

My goal is dropping at least one batch a month, but I'm pushing for more where I can. I'm becoming more efficient with practice and seeing less breakage, so batch size may grow in the future.

Due to overwhelming demand, I am happy to announce I am releasing the DryVDock docking station at the next JetDryV drop. This item will be available for purchase going forward. Originally made just as a display and loading stand, but those who received a surprise stand in their orders have asked for more. So, I'm making them available as time permits.
