The HI

Finally received my new square walnut HI a couple of days ago. It has a larger 3/8" SS tube. Somehow it seems easier to get the right sized load and hit compared to my 7/16" bamboo unit. The 11 days without a vape was difficult and painful for my old lungs but they are recovering. Thanks, Alan
Well damn it, JBone, we gotta get you a backup or two for these situations. I don’t even want to think about the depths of consumption (I couldn’t even use the dirty C word) you had to sink to during those 11 days.

I have a relatively new bamboo unit, but I stupidly left it at my daughter's (it was unplugged and hidden) a couple of weeks ago. Didn't wanna ask her to mail it, she put it in her safe for a few weeks. Always needed a backup anyway, so tried to get one as quickly as possible, but I stupidly managed to drag that process out. Will have the bamboo back in my possession in a few weeks.

I knew I could get by a few days without vaping, even though it would raise a stink, etc. At first I cut way back and everything was fine, but after a week went by I was smoking more and the cough was getting ugly. That experience made me wonder how much longer I'll be vaping. I enjoy the hell out of it, maybe to much, and that might be the problem. 😉:leaf::spliff:

You'll like it. Portability isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The first few weeks with the bamboo were frustrating for me. Couldn't get a reliable hit, kept overloading it, started fires, etc.. I now insert the screen about 3/4 of the way in to make a smaller chamber. Its just my opinion, but a manageable all-in-one-pull and immediately blowing out the ABV will optimize the overall process; i.e. less painful hits, easier to finish, minimizes cannabis waste and leaves the screen cleaner. 😉

Thanks for the tips! I was thinking I'd prefer to use this as a one-and-done type of device (more toward the microdose end of the spectrum)

Maybe not the oldest, but possibly the fartiest!
Hello. I just got a bamboo HI and I’m a little confused as to how to use it with an Arizer stem. My first hit with it was with a DynaVap vong (half bowl setting), and I think my temp was a bit too high; I blackened the top and hardly hit the inner stuff. I will try to inhale slower and will lower the temp on the vape. Other hints appreciated.

Back to using the vape with Arizer stems. Since the glass stem goes over the core, where do I load the herb to? Do I load the herb into the glass stem and just not worry about the herb that touches the core? My goal is to use an Arizer WPA and bong with the Hi. Thanks.

Just my 2¢. IMO inhaling slowly is critical, otherwise the back half of loads are still green (wasted weed). This might also explain sticky resin left on the screen.

I'm guessing (overthinking?) the incoming hot air cools as it contacts aromatic compounds and gives up energy. It takes a certain amount of heat to mobilize all of the compounds, before the full load can get hot.

I also wasted a lot by setting the voltage one or two tenths higher than it needed to be. Inserting the stem a small amount at first seems to reduce the risk of ignition.

Nowadays I (usually) get an excellent hit by inserting the screen only 3/4 of the way into the 1/4" steel stem. Ideally it's one and done, its comfortable (no coughing) and I blow out finished, dry ABV.

I remember the intuitive urge to add more weed to get a better hit. That just makes things worse with the HI. Less is definitely better at first IMO.

Edit: Shit Snacks advised me on use of the HI several years ago.
