Same here. I thought directly "no broken glass sound", that's good... But I've found the glass tube moving around and just thought "it was safe nicely in place" .

I'll probably do that later if I find it is more loose but I'm afraid another accident would be "drama". Is it possible it could slide off without removing the screws or if it get a hit ?
If I understand correctly : after removing the screws, the glass heater cover (tube only) should be removed from the top easily ? So the glass is "snug" in the aluminium plate too ?

After you remove the screws, the aluminum plate that is holding the glass tube will easily come out. The flair in the glass helps keep it snug in the aluminum when you tighten down the screws. It is best to only install one screw at a time since there isn't much room inside of a HI body.

For anyone who has already bought a HI from me, I will consider the date of purchase as the date to get back on the list if they wish.

Here is a photo of one of the more challenging operations in making a HI. The power socket hole in the side of the lower body cavity is drilled and tapped. The wood can break out very easily as you are drilling/creating the hole. Getting the threads cut so that the power socket will be perpendicular is another challenge. This allows me to easily remove the power socket for changing out the heating element if necessary. It also holds the power socket securely so it will never get loose or wiggle. The PD, MZ, WZ, WW and TT also use this same power socket connection method.

unfortunately I think the power supply I bought is busted. Didn't buy it through Alan - tried to get rid of some gift card money and save some cash through amazon.

I'm currently putting out less than MFLB levels. I was looking forward to puffing some big vape hits!

If you have the No2 power adapter you can use that too.
I use both.

Werd, I'll try that PS tomorrow. I know for a fact that the one I bought is not working since Alan said it would be tough to hold due to the heat after a certain amount of time (type of wood and core) - it was always fine.

Never thought about checking MFLB PA but it seems like HI need 12V DC. So power supply with 12V (courant continu) will do, mflb PA is !
A variable voltage change the game on that point. I did as well tried to find lost 12V DC supply at home but couldn't succeed. Thanks for the MFLB PA remembering @al bundy

Yes that is my most loved feature about this vaporizer. It is quite efficient. My meds last twice as longer and i get medicated using less than i would in my other vapes.

Fuck yeah man!! I've been rockin an old-core HI myself for the past couple of days - at around 12.8v through a Mad Rob 10/10 tree bub using one of Alan's 18mm wood on silicone adapters. It's been absolutely vaping BLISS!!

I also got a newer core HIaber and enjoy using that as well. Newer is more often than not a little better, but... the classic is still a friggin' classic!

@Chicken Charlie - You are welcome. Good to hear your consumption has been reduced.

Have just assembled another new roasting tube configuration with efficiency in mind. I found that the screens that I make for the glass and ss heater covers can be positioned inside of the 10mm glass mouthpiece tubes to allow roasting with very small amounts of material. The screen can be positioned near the nipple end for use with ss heater covers and near the open end for use with glass heater covers. The mouthpiece tube can be used for a cotton or hemp fiber filter and easily removed from the wine cork connector that has been sanded square so that it won't roll. The tube is about 6" in overall length and holds about the same amount of roasting material as a ss roasting tip. Nice to be able to roast such a small amount in glass. The cost is $15. A silicone sleeve will also work in place of the wine cork, but it is a bit more effort to remove the glass tubes and they can roll away.

I can tell you guys that my girl loves the new stem assembly. Helps her tremendously as she has lung issues. This helps reduce the irritation she has when using the log vapes directly (read not through water).

I can also tell you that they are mighty tasty to rip!

Edit....the cork is awesome too btw. That's what we got and we love it. I made my own silicone center and it is a little more awkward to use. Not much, but the cork is just really convenient.

Yeah man...I am praying he does not get tired of us or tired of making vapes. I had an aromazap, an Eterra and the Hi has renewed my love for log vapes. Cannot wait to see what he does with the wood I shipped him.
@Higher than a Pterodactyl post some pictures if you don't mind. I am a stem kinda guy. not into water tools and such. I need some ideas for some stems.

Just got home.... Decided to not just hit the clubs, I needed to surf. I was overdue. Been like 2 weeks! Anyway I'm home and covered on sand from my toes to my nose. Still though pictures before a shower! I did promise.

Ok here's some of my collection. This is only my HI collection, and believe me it would be bigger except for that pesky wait list lol! There are also more things not pictured of course like other VoltageKeepers, battery packs, a box of various cables, glass stems, etc...

From left to right we have the new stem Alan made, 2 GonG 14mm one long & one short, a 14mm Guatemalan Granadillo shorty WonG by ED (modded by me to solid wood), 2 Black Locust 14mm WonG stems one glass tip & one all wood by Alan, one 18mm all wood B&W Ebony WonG by Alan, and two Redwood Burl glass tipped WonG stems in 14mm and 18mm.

In the back are two VKs, from left there is a small/tall the works case, and a custom designed (for me) internal battery pack powered VK. My other VKs are being upgraded and not here for the photo (in case anyone is wondering where they went).

This is my 100 year old pine HI. It's made from salvaged wood from a remodel. Love it!

My first HI. The Redwood Burl with a Granite base. My baby... Even have stems to match (see first pic)...Alan rocks at making matching stems! Even when he's not trying!

So there you have it. My current collection.

I feel like a proud papa right now. Lol.
