I am posting this for my buddy Mikero since he's on vacation and I had to edit his video that goes with this post >(.
Hello all,
It's been awhile since I last posted. When I first got my herbie I was extremely underwhelmed, if you remember my posts. I was very annoyed at the fact I had to constantly clean the top screen(which is extremely annoying for the price we paid), and that my clouds were weak, super weak. Due to advice from people like
@stickstones who said to clean the top scren each time, and make sure the bud is super dry. I tried airing out my bud but it still stuck a lot, due to it being sticky in nature; however it stuck less so I felt it was working better. I was originally using bags, and I never had used bags before as my main. I had an Extreme 3, and I used the whip, as that was what I was used to as I had used a Vapor Bros with my roomates(one of theirs) for the semester. The Herbie whip was good, but I had cut the whip in half to use with glass, but the glass' vapor production was pretty bad.. As I believe stickstones also mentioned I should "adjust my expectation."
Well, I decided that I could accept that, or I could try to make the bowl better, to suit my needs, and help out everyone adjust their bowl to the same experience. Guess which one I took?
Well ladies and gents, I have found a new method to not only create super thick, tasty clouds at a far range of temps, but I also ELIMINATE THE NEED TO CLEAN the top screen, as well as GET RID OF THE TOP SCREEN (**For Advanced Users, will explain below).
Basically attached is a video I took for my first session of the day, which shows a few things.
1. A tiny packed bud bowl at 390 (I believe this was my 3rd hit, but maybe not), which you can see is nice and thick.
2. I show how to pack the bowl, as well as me adding some hash oil to the mix (NO MORE STUPID AROMA PAD)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. Bud+Oil at 420 = super clouds
.
So what exactly am I doing to make my bowl so amazing?
Well basically I figured that the reason the top screen is getting filled with bud is because it's spinning like a dryer; however, the air from this "dryer" is being sucked up, and all of the "lint" is being caught in the screen where the air passing through. In our case it's basically a bunch of tiny bud particles, kief, plant matter, etc, clogging it up, followed by a bunch of bud. At the end of our bowl it's just the former, without the bud. WE have to clean that crap, and TBH I was torching my screen once or twice a day, it was very annoying, again, for what we paid.
So I came across this method after doing some oil with the oil screen and it getting my bowl and screens all dirty. I started sandwhiching the bud in between 2 screens. This way we don't have the "dryer effect" going on, and instead we have all of our bud in one place, with air passing through all of it, without ANY of it getting clogged up. When I started doing it, I would just try to put the screen down, and have it stick to what was most likely the oil still in the bowl; however sometimes the screen would not stay down, and would pop open, thus causing the dryer effect and instantly my hit would dwindle, and I would get mad
.
HOWEVER, at one point I realize that I was always having the screen stuck in part of the bowl, but the other part was not, thus it would popped. I realized at this point, that I could sandwhich both screen within the slot meant for the bottom screen, thus having the screen completely in place. I learned the first techique out after about 2 weeks of owning the Herbie, and it took about another week to figure out this fully secure method, which at this point which was probably 2-3 weeks ago. Now for the last 3 weeks or so I have been able to vape without having the screen pop, and I have been able to remove the top screen fully because I feel it's secure enough. I waited about 2 weeks before I thought it was okay to remove the screen, but I've had the screen out for a few weeks, so somewhere my timeline is messed up, but whatever. 1 week here, 2 weeks there, blah blah blah, you get the point
.
**The reason I said to wait until you know what you're doing to remove the top screen is so you don't get blowbacks, as I said before I waited awhile before I was sure that it wouldn't blow back on me.
To be perfectly honest, I had a blowback the other night because I was rushing to pack the bowl in because my dog was bugging out to go for a walk, so I wanted to get a hit in first. I got a hit, felt it blow, and bud went everywhere. It wasn't that bad. The top area(which you can see in the video) has all stem-hash so it caught tons of bud. You can actually see part of the ring area has stem-hash, but some doesn't. Some was removed with bud. Other parts of the bud made it into the tube and through the tubing. TBH it was my rookie move because I didn't stop right away. I had a feeling it popped, but waited about a second, but that's a lot of sucking time... Also, I did an EXTREMELY rookie mistake and I was excited to take hits with a buddy on skype, packed my bowl, packed it with oil... then put the top on and took a hit. I felt something was off but I got a monster hit quick... I opened up my bowl and there was just tons of bud stuck to the top LOLOL..... The oil got stuck and made a barrier to protect the bud from going in...(THANK GOD LOL).... YEAH IT WAS BAD, I can't believe I did that... This was 2 days ago.... The blowback was 4-5, so yeah, even after 3 weeks+ I still fucked up SO BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!
Anyways now you can not only do bud, but also oil, extremely easy. I just have to laugh at how amazing 380 hash oil hits are LOL....... It sucks because my buddy tried his enail at 450 and just said it was no bueno, carb cap and all.... It's great having an enclosure to hold the vapor in

@mixchu69 just wanted to make sure you read this since you asked about it.
