Is there a checklist compiled on this thing so we know what percentage of the grasshopper is actually complete? I've been following these updates for a year and have no clue what the actual progress is.

This sounds like a worthwhile project, please be sure to post your results

I wonder how all those accessories and cases are going..
...not to mention the Ti models that come in different color combinations. Remember when we unlocked the green version? Surely they're just not getting mentioned because it's only the SS model that's causing all the problems.

They have a special early bird category that is just the plain ss model, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the only version finished/out before the holidays. It would be nice to see an update of the packaging and collateral/marketing material though, hopefully that stuff is mostly done/out of the way at this point.

There won't be ANY version ready before the (2014) holidays. :|

You don't know that for sure, nor can you prove it.

They are working hard so cut them some slack. It's not easy to design something completely new and change the game.

As was said, the early bird version is the plain SS. Being the early bird version and all, I suspect it will be the first version to come out, leaving all the other versions and accessories to be worked on AFTER they release the SS model. I have no insight to this, I am just using common sense.

Since Titanium is very expensive to have parts made out of, if it were my business I was running, I would wait to have any titanium parts made at all until I already had the SS version out and proven to work(with a fan base already built up). Again, I have no insight to this matter, just using common sense and good business practices to form an opinion.

Disclaimer: I don't claim to be right, nor do I claim anyone else is wrong. Just giving my :2c:

We're here to fuck shit up.
If I have mine in my hand before Christmas I'd be shocked. I mean I'd love it, but I'm highly doubtful. My speculation is that if they are bringing up the fact that holiday shipping is going to be delaying shipments of parts even further then that's kind of a way of saying that they're not shipping until after the holidays. Just my speculation from their words.

The Holiday Gift gets theirs first, probably along with Early Birds though.

IIRC, they are just going to anodize them, not have actually have Titanium casings.

If you are referring to the color options, they say it's anodized Titanium.

Anodizing is just increasing the thickness of the natural surface oxidization of metals, it is then painted or dyed (or many other surface options such as glue).

Titanium can also take on many different colors of it's own when anodized, without dye or paint, that are determined by the thickness of oxidation achieved during anodizing(which is determined by the voltage applied through the metal).

So yes, they are going to have to make all the parts (exterior parts anyways) out of both Stainless Steel and Titanium (and anodized Titanium as well for the color options).

That's what I thought, that the insides are the same, it's just the outer shell that changes from ss to ti so it shouldn't make a functional difference. I agree that they are probably devoting all resources to finish the ss first. Earlier in the thread they said they are going the voltage route for the colors, they actually provided a great graphic that illustrates the different voltages required for each color (it's somewhere back there).

You certainly couldn't be blamed for doing so but then I'm sure you'd also make it clear to your beloved backers that the Ti version would be released after the SS one, wouldn't you?

Edit: @grokit here's the chart again, I had posted it on their blog and seeing it here courtesy of @paytonpenn made me register and post for the first time :)

I thought that was a given, as the ss model is the only one promised to early-bird backers before the others and the others are all ti. I was originally an early-bird and then changed it because I decided I could wait until colored ti which should be last, with uncolored ti somewhere in between as far as order of release.

Well... have a look at their campaign page, everything was meant to be delivered in feb 2014 no matter what metal or color.

@zymos

OMG, are you being sarcastic?!

They should've never put a release date. They screwed themselves by doing that.

That has nothing to do with the order of release by model, which is what we were discussing.
Then I'm confused and not sure what you're talking about I'm afraid. But does it matter? No; we all know the delivery date on the campaign page was BS and that the SS models will come first, eventually...

Edit: thinking about it I hope the Ti version will arrive a looooong time after the SS version so they hopefully have enough time to fix what needs to be fixed as I REALLY don't want to have to deal with their CS.

Sorry for the snark.
Of course they had to give a release date. Who would back it without some prediction of when they'd complete the product? Although this is shaping up to be the most delayed crowdfunding campaign I've been a part of, I've never experienced one that wasn't at least a couple of months over due, and a couple have been many months late.
