Hey guys,
I'm here to tell you about my evening. Anybody who has been here in the last 24 hours has seen what I'm going to refer to as "Gasketgate." I'd like to take this time to say that I might have been wrong.
I only say that I might have been wrong because I need to further test my unit. At the very least, I have decided not to complain to Firefly for the day. At best, I might've found a solution for people having issues with their FF2.
Here's the disclaimer; I only did this with one bowl. I changed multiple things, so I'm not entirely sure which one worked. It could've been a fluke. I've noticed that the bud I used for this bowl produces more vapor than the "typical" bud I use. It's super sticky and I noticed huge(er) clouds from my Crafty before using it in my FF2.
The first thing I want to mention (and could explain a sealing problem) is that I noticed a residue left behind from my 91% isopropyl. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it was kinda sticky so I licked my finger (some people may have a better technique) and wiped all the residue from the edge of the unit (where the lid/gasket make contact with the main unit)
The second thing I changed was my draw speed. I start very slow and gradually increase my draw over the course of 10-20 seconds, ultimately reaching what I would describe as a "medium/hard" draw. If this does prove to be the reason for your problems, I would just recommend practicing and figuring out what gets the best results, but I think I'm gonna continue to use this draw technique.
Who knows? I might've unknowingly changed something else, but I can't remember (I almost forgot that I had wiped the edge with my finger.)
The important thing is that I was getting pretty good production without holding the lid down. I even had a couple hits that induced a bit of coughing.
With all these variables (suction/bud/draw) I'm still not convinced that this will work for everybody, but I believe that it could. I'm probably not going to be able to try it again until this evening, but I will definitely be experimenting more tonight.
Sorry for the long post, guys, but I feel like this was made into a big deal yesterday. I'm not saying my lid is good yet, but I feel better about it than I did 24 hours ago, so we're making progress!
