@cosimo Welcome to FC, its a great community.
There should be a serial number on the bottom of the unit, if authenticity is a big issue for you, ask for the serial number, and then contact Arizer with it and ask if it is a EQ serial number for a unit that was purchased last April. Explain the situation and it should be fine, since the seller has offered you a period of time to refund the sale after purchase you have the option of waiting to have the unit in hand to do this yourself. Arizer should let you know whether or not the unit is authentic at the very least I would think, do be aware you will not be covered under the warranty.
I say go for it, it is a better price than you will otherwise get at a large margin you have said so why not. If it is in good shape as it seems to be you should be fine. Does it come with the remote? This isnt a essential piece, but I find it convenient personally. If it doesnt have one you can get one separately.
My EQ's power supply brand is "ENG" and the cord is "Linoya" I would think that the brand of these will change from time to time, and I assume you are using 220v? If so that would also account for things being different. My EQ is 100% authentic for what its worth, purchased from Arizer last year in September or October
thanks for the reply! I'm waiting for the seller to send me a pic of the bottom of the unit to confirm the serial number. If the serial turns out authentic (i'm pretty sure it is), I think I'll buy it!!! BTW, the power adapter is ENG as yours.
My new concern now is the whole "dirty airpath" deal, with the air clearly going through the PCB before reaching the heating element. I understand the PCB is not incontact with the heating element and that the PCB is made with quality components, but if for some reason the PCB does heat up, I'm sure I don't want to inhale whatever heats off the PCB. Good thing i've seen on recent towers/extreme q's is that the PCB is red (red supposedly is lead free, green pcb has lead). Maybe people reporting gassing of these units were ones with green pcb's?
Are there any sources that confirm the PCB does not heat up or not significantly?
BTW, I just realized I'm being sold a V-Tower, not an Extreme-Q. So I'm not sure if my post should be moved over to the V-Tower sub.
