ya i don't fully understand that overheating by not using a cyclone.. it seems the heat would dissipate just as well, if not faster w/ a shorty f/f 18mm.. rather than the cyclone bowl?? especially w/o disc in the middle.. i personally am struggling to under stand what exactly you are saying mvapes... i must be missing an important detail in what your saying... it gets confusing talking about different adapters and parts of the vape and shit.. i must be missing or misunderstanding something i guess?? :hmm:

You dare question the great one?! He knows all and we are just simpletons in his presence... I've been using a shortened female to female for months with no ill effects other than getting higher faster than with the stock cyclone bowl... also get a faster warm up, so it gets done quicker...His communication skills are so well developed and his use of foul language is very impressive. I'll keep using my very dangerous setup and if i damage my unit, I'll just buy another one.

mgk

Either would work nicely - I like the smaller inline. Nice price too - and as long as it has an 18mm female it'll work perfectly with the Q.

Would this 14" tall showerhead with 18mm joint work well with my extreme Q, or is it too big to be efficient?
http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/pro..._female_joint_19mm/fine_art/glass/pipes/other
Your opinions about this is appreciated!

Also if I order it, I should pick the female 18mm joint correct?

Yes, female 18/19 joint to receive your Q's male elbow.

The 14" is probably to top of mouthpiece, the can looks about half that height which would put it at ~7". I would ask the seller what the diameters are of the can, the base, and the mouthpiece. If the mouthpiece is a common .5-.75", then the can is probably only about 2". At 2"x7" that's just 22 cubic inches of volume, which is a tad more than a Mobius Ion Matrix, a very comfortable piece for most users; if anything, some feel that's a bit small. By way of comparison, a 3"x7" can is more than twice that volume, and requires a big pull. The base size might be somewhat important to you, if it is very narrow then the piece might not be as stable as you would want. In short, doesn't look large at all volume wise, but I would want to verify the dimensions and be sure it stands stable.

I underestimated the importance of cleaning this thing.

Kept wondering why it took forever for the vape bag to fill, even with the fan speed on 3, and why the bag didn't have any vapor in it once the bag was "full".

I examined the "elbow-screen", and it looked clear enough for vapor to get through, but I was quite wrong.

I decided to fill a bag without the elbow-screen at all, with the fan setting on 1. This fan speed is low enough that it won't blow bits of herb into the elbow.

Without the elbow screen, the vapor came through very nicely...

What happens is that resin/hash builds up on the screen and gunks up everything. In my case, it had completely impeded the flow of air/vapor. I think it doesn't help that the screen has a dense mesh. It basically becomes a wall of hardened THC syrup.

Yesterday, I cleaned everything using rubbing alcohol and salt the way I would clean a pipe or bong. My screens came out looking like new.

However, I can already see the resin start to build up after a handful of vapes, and I feel like it won't take very long at all for them to become clogged at all. Plus, it bothers me know that they will gradually impede vapor over time unless I clean them frequently.

I might just ditch the elbow-screen when I'm using the bags. It makes sense for the whip (which I stopped using over time in favor of the bag, probably because it was also clogged) because otherwise you'd inhale tiny bits of leaves, but it's just a hindrance for filling bags.

We might trade Avatars to really screw you all up.

Let the games begin,

I would keep a few screens in rotation and soaking in ISO, so you always have one clean. Do you only have one screen.

Alright - I never said anything about female to female Dave. I said female to male with an elb placed on-top in the male side. You just asked them about changing a female to female when that's what it already has.

I wish Arizer would just post on the thread. :disgust:

Thanks for trying though DDave. I respect your efforts to improve your sessions.

Hi mvapes,

Yes, I wrote Arizer regarding the 18mm F/F adapter that I originally posted about. That's the only other adapter, besides the original cyclone bowl, that I have. I am still going to pursue some type of feedback from Arizer, as being a responsible contributor would require me to do, since I introduced the adapter to this thread.

So, am I reading this correctly that I now have your blessing on the adapter because it's F/F and not F/M?

Thanks,
DDave

LOL fucking tweak and tweek.. hah.

EDIT2: ok, i see now.. i thought you were talking about dave's setup specifically.. and i couldn't see it being a problem.. i get what you mean now about the 18mm F/M adapter w/ ELB being a concern.. i can see that.. but i wonder what arizer would say about it? that would be a bitch dealing w/ that F/M adapter tryin to mess w/ the ELB when that thing is blazing hot... but i wonder.. does it really trap that much heat?? its a waaay shorter setup but still i would think it wouldn't trap too much air in there.. it doesn't matter though that setup would be too much a PITA anyway.. because of how hot that one joint you would be using would be.

nice setup dave.. i like that test tube clamp.. seems perfect. way to contact arizer

The elbow-screen performs an important function. It's fine mesh is designed to create back-pressure into the bowl creating the "Cyclone" turbulence effect which makes for efficient extraction (and less stirring). It's also necessary if using Fan 3, which usually provides the most vapor. It is more important when using the bag. When blowing a bag, you should stir once or twice and also clean the elbow-screen with the stir stick. It is very common for users to have a set of elbow-screens which they rotate through an ISO bath (e.g., in a small mason jar; I use a small beaker with a cork and strain the iso thru a coffee filter to make it last a long time). I honestly don't recall how long I went before bathing a screen, but of course that will depend upon frequency of sessions, quality of herb, grind, etc.

Thanks Buildozer!

I am very happy with the overall performance increase and product savings I am seeing!

So you have it handy, here's the link to the test tube clamp.
http://www.amazon.com/American-Educ...37450&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=test tube clamp

Note: I've tested this clamp attached for 3 hours to the F/F & Cyclone bowls at 200C. At no time was the clamp too hot for me to pick up. (Individual perceptions of acceptable heat levels may vary...) Until a higher-temperature vapist has posted results, please use caution until a level of comfort can be established... (practicing my disclaimer skillz!)

thanks for the link man.. but i don't have the EQ any more, or i would probably try the same mod.. mine was passed down to a friend that loves it and puts it to good use all the time.. it has the tuff bowl though and that makes things pretty easy to deal w/ temp-wise..

i'm surprised you got my name right hah.. most often it reads as Bulldozer to onlookers hah.

Anytime! Glad to hear your friend likes the EQ!

And while I'd love to take credit for superhuman perception skillz, I always Copy/Paste names. Saves time and typos! Especially when :mmmm:..........

Can anyone suggest a glass piece to use with the extreme that I could order online? I'm looking for a cooler vape, and bigger cloudier hits compared to just whip or bag.

If I get a piece that does have a 14mm joint, I could just use a 14mm - 18mm adapter correct? Otherwise I could look for a piece that is 18mm female joint size hopefully.

@momofthegoons&mvapes: acknowledged. On Monday I will reach out to Arizer in the hopes of discussing with them.

Good Morning FC!

Received response from Kevin at Arizer. First off, I'm floored that the response came so quickly! Vendor support top notch here!

Kevin did not report any concerns or issues in using the F/F adapter on the unit.

Due to sensors and programming, the heater would power down when reaching set temperature.

Kevin's closing words were "run with it"....

So here's to you Kevin, Thank you & a quadruple-smilie =

And with all that, I'm very pleased to find out that the performance improvements seen by use of this adapter do not come with a detrimental cost. So in celebration of this inexpensive performance booster, I'd like to state...
Long Live The DDave Arizer Power-Bowl!

Revised Disclaimer: Use of the DDave Arizer Power-Bowl may leave one highly medicated after a shorter vaping session, very-much-likely using less-than-normal amount of product. Elbow Packs may produce greater clouds with less effort. Bowl loads may yield more flavor for longer. Individual results may vary!

not sure what you wanna spend, or what size piece your looking for, but here's a couple links to a reputable company.. at one point i was looking at the straight tube.. its a great deal and nice thick glass.. SSFG travel beaker, SSFG travel tube... and there's this one too.. i'm pretty sure the tubes have 18mm joints.. and you can get the down stem either as a reduced one or and 18mm one i believe.. SSFG also has cool shower-head down stems.

Thanks Dave for the post - that's great about the female to female and as I thought they would say no problem. Obviously because the cyclone bowl is female to female. Essentially what you were trying to do was lower the height from the original included cyclone bowl to increase the heat to the elbow and that is very cool.

What others were trying to do which is why your question to arizer wasn't exactly precise was because members with ELB's from VXL were attempting to place a FEMALE TO MALE (with the elb inserted on top in the male end) and attaching to a HT.

However, if the heater will shut down like they said then we should have no fucking problem either way!

I love your attitude and willingness to experiment and your gonna make it real well in this forum. Now I need to figure out what the temperature variation is from the heater core to my ELB. Currently to get big clouds like the Cloud offered I have to run at 455. I am willing to be there's about a 25 degree variance from exit to MJ.

Either way - I'm getting high as fuck and that makes experimenting so much more fun bro.
