@LongIslandmom I was in a hurry above. I wasn't able to fix part of what I had written. You had asked, "what to cycle through means." It means to go through a session, for the Air it would be 10 minutes from the time it started until it clicks off. Not sure if you saw this in the directions? When you first get the Air cycle through (time it starts until it turns off) a session without using it to burn off anything in the oven. Do this a couple times on the highest heat. After that it should be good to go. I thought I saw to cycle through in the directions. I wasn't sure in what context you saw that info.
No the Vortex stem is not fast. @OF is right about that. It's a slow draw. You savor your session.
I think it's a nice addition to the PVHES line of glass pieces. I thank @poonman for turning me on to them.

@OF Must try Vortex at higher temp. I get clouds from a Vortex after a few hits but it leaves my throat feeling partched. In reality I never used Arizer stems. I'm addicted to PV stems married to ALT adapters. They feels most natural paired with a Solo or Air and are easy to maintain. So I'm a little meh on the Vortex straw form factor to begin with.

Ok so I had to figure out why I wasnt getting nice clouds with my super price y vortex stem..after playing around with pack and grind, I have found the sweet spot for the vortex and it is producing much better than previously stated..I added Mulroney screen and did a medium grind with a tighter pack and boom cloud city baby..so I regress..I am impressed by the vortex more so than I was..it takes the air to a level where u can personalize it to your way of medicating..
hey would anyone happen to know the difference between the regular pvhe stems and vortex? i was thinking of ordering a pvhe stem cause the vortex is a bit too long for my liking. it's a nice stem, i just would rather hit temps on a lower setting. also does shorty allow for more clouds or naw?

With the Vortex or the PVHES mouthpieces it comes down to personal preference. They both have added airflow because of the slits along the sides. The Vortex will give you a cooler draw. It takes longer to heat up. It also takes a couple of draws before the vapor thickens up. I get pretty large clouds with mine but some say they don't. I can use the higher temperatures with the Vortex stem. That is my experience.
A stock Solo stem also works well with the Air. You don't have stealth with the longer stems. The only way the Air looks stealth is with the shorter stems. The short stems I can only use the cooler temperatures. The higher temperatures with the shorter stems feel too harsh for me. Some folks can go higher with the short mouth pieces.

thank you for the reply carol you're the best! i was wondering if the regular pvhes stems are smaller than the vortex. i think i read somewhere that the regular pvhe stems are just as big as the stock arizer air stem(without the cap)

The PVHES (no need for 'stems', that's what the S is....) is made from the stock Solo stems and is therefore the same length as them. Solo stems, not Air stems which they predate.
Looked at the other way, PVHES existed before the Air. So the Air stem is shorter, not the PVHES longer? The Vortex is a 'from the ground up' build, it can be longer.....which it is by a bit. Solo and PVHES about 11.7cm not the 70cm of the Air stem.

So far between both factory stems and the PVHES Shorty Turbo, I'd have to say that the Shorty Turbo is by far my favorite. I've seen people mention that they mod the factory stems to be more like the PVHES Stems with a dremel tool. So are you guys basically just takingout the middle of the 4 holed button stem and putting extra airflow notches at the bottom? What special bit? I figure since I'm never using my factory stems anymore I may as well try to mod them myself.

Just received my Air today from Planet Vape. It took exactly a week from order to delivery using the free small packet shipping. That's really fast considering I'm on the other side of a border AND continent!
I got it all charged up and did 2 burn-offs. Then I tried a bowl on green with the black tip. It was much less harsh on my throat than I thought it would be.
I almost always use my Solo through water so I tried another bowl using my PV GonG and f-Bomb. That was very smooth and easy and produced more vapor than I'd usually expect from my Solo.
The main thing I am appreciating so far is the form factor. It is almost exactly the same diameter as the f-Bomb tube and is so light and easy to hold while using it.
As a lightweight backpacker I know I am going to appreciate the lower weight too. My Solo weighs 7.6 oz while the Air is only 4.1 oz on my scale. 3.5 oz savings might not sound like much but when you carry it on your back for a few dozen miles it really adds up.

OF you know I also have high standards. But seriously will all my solo parts attach to the new vape.
Miss You OF - somebody give me some tips on the best way to use this new machine. I will be so ready when I land in Nola I'm afraid it will take to long to charge up. After all I will have my brother there and once we get together we have nothing but fun. Still all he wants is his dug out. My friends just don't really get my conversion. I guess they have no hope

Just got some hash oil, thought I'd try the technique. Got a bud interested.
Sandwiched the dab of oil between some absorbing herb, set the AA on high, and pulled some puffs thru a bubbling recycler.
When I left to go home, my buddy was extremely happy, still yakking about the consequences of a steady state universe, & with me rapidly disappearing into the sunset.
It was one of the best experiences I have had in a while, cruising home was pure joy!

I can't seem to get Solo screens to fit into the Air stems.
Am I alone? Bought Solo screens 2 years ago from PV.

As a fellow ultralight backpacker, I thought the same thing but the trade off depending on frequency of use would be the added weight of carrying extra batteries. I just started testing out how many batteries I would need depending on the length of my trips, but at a normal gear weight of 14lbs minus food, fuel, and water, trying not to go over carrying more than 4 with one loaded.

Screens are easily cut with scissors if they are big. Or you can look at these screens from FCer Sinclue. They are awesome screens, I bought 20.
Found a new screen to try in the stems...pre-formed bowls/domes that fit perfectly in the Air/Solo stems:

Not the cheapest screen, but the fit is great and you can buy in larger quantities for a lower unit cost.

I just received my solo screens through PIU (puffitup) and they fit pretty nicely in all of my stems. It was about 3 bucks for a pack of 50 with free shipping in the US.
