Hi everyone! Great news regarding the use of Air II batteries on the OG! This is the official response I got from Arizer (took them less than 5 minutes to reply!!!!!):

Hi,

Thank you for your inquiry.

It is safe to use Air II batteries with Arizer Air, but the Arizer Air software is optimized for use with the Air Battery and if using different batteries the battery indicator will be inaccurate.

You can purchase replacement Air II batteries directly form our Air II Accessories page.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

Best Regards,
Andrew

For someone that needs to replace an old beaten-up battery (like me) this could be a great upgrade! The battery indicator on the Air OG is not the best, anyway...

Now I wonder how much is the gain in battery life... I would imagine 1-2 sessions up from the original 4-6?

Great news indeed. Thanks for passing it on. It occurs to me that they never got back to me on basically the same question a while back......I guess they like you more than me (a common POV.....).

I really like the 'battery indicator will be inaccurate' part. That indicator, when present (it wasn't in the originals in any form) is a bit of a joke anyway IMO. Too few steps (3?) and dependence on normal color vision for that much. Half of us who are color blind (there area about as many color blind men as left handed ones, women are very rare in this) are left guessing 'is it red or green'. Direct hit on the most common type of Color Blindness. Something like 12% are color blind so about six percent of the male customers can't use even the lame indicator. Ironically none on the Engineering/Evaluation/Marketing team? IMO not much of a loss compared to a 50% plus boost in charge life.

It will be nice to do six sessions not four per charge. When I next use mine, I think I'll upgrade it......

Thanks again. Great news indeed.

I do love the simplicity of the two-LED UI, but the battery indicator is just poorly implemented. Probably some kind of "binary" indicator using the two lights would be clearer?
Half way between the Air OG's and the Solo OG's would be the perfect user interface for me. 4 LEDs?

@OF They like me better! Maybe they know you haven't been using your AA lately?

The AA has held its value and more. I got a good deal on mine 3 yrs. ago and from what I see at the above links (and the website where I got mine) it would cost me more to pick one up now than it did then. And I’d think that the AA 2 will hold its value just as well. They’re stayers.

The color system the AA employs may not serve everyone equally, but the AA is so consistent that learning when to change up the bats doesn’t necessarily require the colors. Sure, they help. But my bet is that if I pulled mine out now and threw in a fresh OG bat, I’d manage just fine even if the colors didn’t work. Which they do. It’s a well built vaporizer.

I'm thinking about getting an OG air as I drop it a lot and it falls out from my pocket sometimes onto concrete, I worry about braking the screen on the air 2. I have to replace the air eventually it's 3 years old, with no warranty repair. I wonder how long it will go. I'm disgusted by my crafty how many times I had to send it back.

Sounds like a good call to me. I see little advantage to Air II over the OG version. However, I'm not sure I'd rush out and get another until yours starts to show signs of trouble? The 'Achilles heal' of Solo (limited battery lifespan) is not an issue here since you can replace the 18650 when it gets tired, and even upgrade to the new one from Air II and get a 50% boost in session count.

You do have a backup vape, right? Hopefully something dependable, different and fun to use sometimes?

As to hanger queens that seem to long for a trip to the shop from what I hear your Crafty can't hold a candle to Grasshopper......be glad that's not the backup, or worse your main vape? Arizer, OTOH, has a well earned reputation for soldiering on and on. Provided you don't let @ataxian near your glass, of course.

The grasshopper reliability wise is worse then the crafty. And without the silicon it's unusable for me as it gets that hot. I used to use it with glass, but that's not portable. I got the Milaana to fall back on, as it seems to be as reliable as the Air.

I got my old air back after it had been out on loan for a while, I had forgotten how much I like this little vape. Now using it with one of my ArGo batteries I gotta say I believe it's one of my favorites.
Haven't used my beat up air in quite some time..... solo always gets the first pick. I'll have to have a nice session on white and green later. Thanks @RUDE BOY

I'll have to have a nice session on white and green later.

Somehow I've gotten in the habit of just starting on yellow and bumping it up to red after a few hits, I may have to try doing one of those extended sessions later and just start on blue and work my way up.

My solo's out on loan too, haven't seen it in a while now.

I actually own too many of these things.

Is the Solo really that much better than either of the Air models? I have an AA1 and an AA2. I use them differently, so both are in constant use. I just wish there were a way to make the bowl larger!

I have had two air twos a solo 2 and a couple solos and the solos definitely have more power\vapor production.
They advertise it as being equal but they are not.

Holy cow you guys want bigger bowls for these things? I'll admit, sometimes I do have two (or three:evil:) but one is more than sufficient for me, and I thought my tolerance was getting a little much. I usually use domed screens to reduce the size even.

Hey, don't go by me, I use Sinclue's domed screens and do 'half stems'.........

Solo/Air is an cool platform in that it can accommodate such a wide spectrum of users so well. There is no 'right way' for everyone (as a group), but many 'great ways' to use it as individuals.

How does the battery life change with that ArGo battery? Vaposhop has been out of stock on those... I'm on hold to buy one and try it myself!

I was getting five sessions from the original air batteries and get eight using the ArGo battery.

Like i posted above i do mainly vape on the highest temp... I bought my Air from the classifieds here on FC so my batteries weren't brand new when I started... my ArGo batteries are new.

Just ordered an air. vapemood.com has arizer airs for 89.99 and with SAVE10 it comes down to 80 and change. Should be here next week!

Edit: I read that using other 18650s than the arizer OEM ones voids the warranty....is there anyway they'll actually know? do you guys all really pay the 18$ a pop on the OEM replacements?

Congrats on the purchase!
And yes I pay full price for the OEM batteries. It’s really not something you want to sacrifice on.

I've just started having some issues with my Air. First off it's about 3 years old and has been in heavy use since day one. So it's probably about to die and go in the vape graveyard. Here's the problem....when I turn it on it will blink blur but when I turn it to the heat setting I want it will start to heat it buy the lights kinda flicker and go off. Happens time and time again... occasionally if it does start to actually heating up the red light appears like the battery is dead? anybody got an idea
