Well I been reading over a good bit of this thread and watched several video reviews and I'm still having a really hard time deciding between the Air or the Solo. My good friend has a Solo and I really enjoying using it when I visit him and he says it's his daily driver and pretty much retired his other units. But I've been really intrigued by the Air, I like it's a little more portable. For those of you who have an Air, what do you think of it after having a few weeks and several sessions later? And for those of you have both the Air and the Solo, which one do you say wins out over all?

Far as buying the Air, are any of those "authorized dealers" on Ebay legit? I was a little unsure since they have some listed for just under $200 and most vape sites the Air is well over the $200 mark.
Will any of the more known vape sites do a price match for under the $200 mark, or do the not consider Ebay sellers when price matching?
it's a slimmer more portable Solo with replaceable battery. You might sacrifice a few sessions for the portability but you can change batteries on the fly and keep vaping unlike the Solo which is dead until you can get it on a charger (switching batteries on the Solo is a real PITA and not easy to do on-the-run). Hit up Randy from puffitup with an email and he'll sort you out. Easier to deal with a known and reputable retailer that will stand behind the Air and you 100%, plus he's in California so no international shipping if you're in the states.

@KidFated. I got you brotha

@DopeFight, I think it comes down to personal preference, I have both the Air and the Solo. I would pick the Solo if not for stealth. The flavor is great with both units but I prefer the Solo and use it more often than the Air.

The Solo is the chubby older sister to the Air. It can be bought for less. Check out Puffitup they have very good customer service and they sell both units. Randy will work with you and give you a good deal. See if he will price match.

I am very happy with my Air and would buy it all over again. I like the fact that I can switch out batteries and recharge them. You could buy the Air then you can trade off with your friend.

Arizer will honor your warranty no matter where you buy your unit. Just make sure you keep your online receipt.

hey @OF thinkin of you again, I was lookin on McMaster Carr for battery caps, for air/solo/iolite/mflb usage. I couldn't find them. Could you be so kind to help? I swear I looked all over their site..

Under 'vinyl caps':
http://www.mcmaster.com/#vinyl-caps/=vxfop0

You want half inch nominal size, normal ones at the top, high temperature versions about 2/3 of the way down.

Thanks! Quetz got it for me already, I decided high temp might be better to have and not need, then need and not have. Plus I'll have lots of extras when I lose some!

You're welcome. I saw it, and was trying to cover 3 additional bases: Show how to find it by the search, specify which size and point out the normal/high temp option.

Thanks.

Yes it does help with navigating their site. I also found lots of other goodies to order.

Thanks again!

You're welcome, I know that one. It starts out 'as long as I'm ordering something else and paying shipping.......'. I log in and leave stuff in the cart sometimes until something I can't live without comes along. Stuff like Titanium wire. Teflon and Delrin rods, PTFE tubing and so on. The tiny SS washers I use to repair/backup Solo bases came to stay here the same way.

Very powerful resource, if you lean that way.

Edit: Oh, yeah, great source of high temperature o-rings as well.....normal types for that matter.

Hey All,

After dropping and breaking my Solo's base and a stem for the nth time [btw it still works] I purchased an Air from PlantVape for less than everywhere else and they threw in an extra black skin and battery. My concern is the box for the Air is checked for USA and I am in Asia with same electric as EU. Can I use my old Solo charger on the Air and/or can I use The US charger here in Asia?

Be Good, P77

Do not use the Solo charger, it's the wrong voltage. It's 12 and you want 5......

However, like the Solo charger, the Air one has a 'universal primary', 100 to 230 VAC. Once mechanically adapted to fit the local socket you're good to go.

But be careful of the Solo charger. The connector is shorter but very close. I measured .7mm on mine when I first got it, not too much safety margin if you asked me.

Enjoy your Air, I'm sure you like it.

I started using the Solo when I gave up combusting. I also have a MiniVap but after a few months it was clear that for vaping herb the Solo wins hands down. So easy to use, clean and tasty. I have now had the Air for around one week and have not touched the Solo since (except to check if the Air really was that good). The Air gives me a vapour quality on a par (or better than?) the Solo, is just as easy to use and when the battery is empty I simply put in another one.
Where the Air really shines is pure usability. Its like a slightly oversized esig and as such I now toke on it pretty much like I used to toke on a joint.

If I was just starting to vape now I would go for the Air. The Solo is still an excellent vape and if $ are an issue then there could be some nice opportunities to get a Solo at a really knockdown price. The Solo is awesome but the Air has the edge for me.

Good points, and a personal call in the end.

However, if I were to recommend one over the other for a new vaper I'd push the Solo unless there's a compelling advantage for Air (like compact size for stealth). Otherwise, Solo has more sessions per charge and much more 'friendly' display (shows more and isn't subject to reading issues). Solo is an established performer with a solid history or reliable service.

In fact, to Air owners I'd recommend considering a Solo (a guy needs a backup you know.....) if a fair part of their usage is casual 'around the house'?

Please don't get me wrong, I like Air very much, I'm just not convinced it's all that much better for the average Joe?

This is the new Vortex stem through Planetvape. It works awesome with the Air, I was able to go up to heat level Red which is 410 degrees. Normally green is the highest I can go which is 392 degrees. It gave those higher temps a smooth vapor taste. I didn't cough at all.

This stem is an inch longer than the stock straight stem for the Solo. It has a vortex pocket between the herb and the air path. It doesn't made your unit stealth in any way.

It is definitely worth buying for those of you wanting to use those higher temps without water. It isn't stealth but it medicates well this way. I need the higher temps for when my pain is bad.

I started low and worked my way up to the Orange (401 degrees) quickly then finished off on Red. The Orange was the best temp for flavor and clouds.

EDIT
Yes this is the Vortex made for the Solo or the Air, it says on PVs website now. It fits the Air perfectly. It has better airflow too. The draw is very easy.

Heres what they look like. I posted this pic on the Solo thread a couple weeks ago.

"So you are ripping off the people who buy your vaporiser by voiding warranties if your over priced accessories are not purchased. Will note this and pass this on through forums.

I get it you don't understand why they restrict the battery used in their unit, well let's make that agree with the reasons they've used (and objective review like CentiZen's that agrees there are reasons to restrict them). You think it's a straight up rip off.

But, IMO, saying so so forcefully kind of ends the discussion. Perhaps that was the idea?

I look at it as a warranty is voluntary to start with, they don't have to give any. They set the conditions. If their conditions are reasonable (and of course we each get to decide that) then IMO I should abide by them or take responsibility for voiding the warranty they offer. Here I think a second battery (a convenience feature for me) is cheap enough ($20 from them, about half from CentiZen) to comply. And, since use the Air less hours in a day than I need to charge, I'll charge them there and avoid using any of the several chargers I have, good as they are. It's just too easy to charge one battery, put it in the box and put the other in and charge it and use it until I need to swap. Which usually doesn't happen because I recharge often enough?

Is that a Vortex ?

New stem from PV (Solo)......get on board......

Yeah didn't he confirm that those are in fact modded batteries in our unit's?

I'm not sure if he ever said they were. What I understand is he's identified the exact type used, from the original maker, and confirmed the specs are exceptional generally and useful in the severe way Air uses them.

How special, or widespread, this model is it's not a "run of the mill" cell at any rate. It meets an extended set of specifications we want? Until we know of another that does (and I'm not sure we know all of the exceptions), the 'meets or exceeds' idea seems only sure if we go for 'meets' using the exact same part?

Everybody gets to make their own call, but that's mine.

Thanks.

I've been using my new D2 charger, solely. And it takes longer than I thought it would to charge a depleted cell. A full charge from less than 3.5V to 4.2V takes over 4 hours, 4 hours and 38 minutes I happened to notice on the last one.
It makes sense, it's only charging at 500mA. And this is a >2000 mAh battery.

Just a heads up for folks.

I just love the stock air stem with the plastic mouthpiece.

I cant wait to get the gong and bubbler though to try that out, i wish there was a place in LA i could just go buy the stuff (i know i can get a bubbler, but no gong) I dont want to wait for shipping!

I can't imagine that there isn't some shop in LA that carries Solo GonGs, they're the same.
