Ok this may sound like a stupid question but are you supposed to put the herb outside the dome? Like is the function of the dome to just take up excess space?
I put my dome screen into an empty stem, and then add my herb on top of it. Depending on how big you make it, it can do nothing more than keep a little space between the screen and glass holes, up to reducing 90% of the load size. I have a dome screen that reduces the Solo stem size by about 20% and also gets the material a bit closer to the heater. Some pages back I have a picture of another setup I use, two flat dome screens sitting "back to back" to reduce the load size to about 50%.

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, I thought that was the modded Pax with mentos gum. Sorry my mistake.
Yeah, good eye; it's a camera shy Pax!
What is the stealth cover thing you put around the mouthpiece? Where did you get it?
It's a homemade piece that centres on top cover. There's a gap between the stem and its sleeve, where all the inlet air gets directed/preheated thru. More details & pic at bottom of page 103.

I checked it out. Awesome idea. I like the thinner tube cover that you posted earlier better. This one kind of looks like it's wearing a turtleneck. Arizer should consider releasing glass tubes with high temp plastic covers or some type of sleeve for stealth.

I like your idea but i feel for stealth i leave the glass part of the stem visible this way when looking at it, it kinda looks like a e-cig you see most people using in public only without the liquid in it. Most e-cigs have the clear glass or plastic type stem. You cant see the herb anyway when the stem is in as its hidden in the oven.

Yea I did that a couple of times and nothing came up. Oh well maybe later. I went with the D020 for my first purchase since that seems to be highly recommended. I still haven't figured out what the -k, -w etc are on those though so I went with the regular one. Thanks!

... @valence , I clearly and visibly gave you the link to that bubbler in my post. Seems it's just not meant to be..... (link for bubbler is here, click here <--..) (original reply is here.)

Good luck

Greetings fellow FC'ers and AA owners:

Long time FC lurker here, first time poster. I felt compelled to write my first post because of the help that you all have provided for a rookie Air user like myself. I hope you can all bear with me and take a gander at my lengthy post. After coming across this great Arizer Air thread and reading nearly every page, I have learned many new things about the AA that I would otherwise be unaware of. I recently transitioned from combustion to vaporizing because of age (I just turned 30), health issues, conservation, etc. One week ago I purchased my first vaporizer (the AA), and I'm extremely satisfied with it. Based on the advice of FC'ers and your recommendations of Randy @ PIU, I bought one during his sale of $179 with an extra battery. Choosing the AA wasn't easy as there are a plethora of portable vaporizers available, but you fine folks at FC and some Youtube reviews (Vape Life Will, FC's own "Soloman") convinced me to go with the AA. From reading this thread alone, I have learned many pleasantly surprising modifications such as:

1. PVHE GonG adapters (and differences between shortys, turbos, etc)
2. 18mm and 14mm hydrotubes (name brand and knock-offs)
3. JoDa glass tubes
4. D020 bubblers
5. Dome-type screens and O-rings
6. Third Party batteries/Chargers
7. 14mm and 18mm reducers/extenders
8. Homemade mods such as stealth cover for glass tube
9. Removing the O-ring from the MP tubes
10. Third party cases (By the way I found a pretty good one, I'll post pics soon)
11. The usefullness of the pre-load caps
12. New and improved short stem from Arizer (I have to get one)

^This is just off the top of my head, but I know there's more. Granted I have spent alot of $ on accessories and mods for the Air, but it's definitely worth it to me because of my need for a portable vaporizer during my 1-2 hour long daily commutes from home to work (try sitting in L.A. traffic everyday and not going ape crazy with road rage). This device puts me in such a good mood that the traffic hardly affects me, I just rip a few bowls and listen to podcasts. The AA is an absolute dream regarding portability and vapor efficiency and volume. I am consistently surprised how much vapor and how thick the clouds this contraption produces. I enjoy using the short MP tube because of stealth and I find the mouthpiece quite comfortable. I do have a few general questions that some of you may be able to help with, and any feedback would be appreciated:

1. Since I'm new to vaporizing, what heat settings would you recommend? I usually opt for green since that seems to be a middle ground, but I'd like some advice on when to use different settings based on the volume of herb, density, and how much of it has been vaped. I have heard that you can re-vape toasted herb, is this possible with the AA and if so, what heat setting would you advise and how effective is it?
2. How does the fineness of grinded herb correlate with the vapor density that you can get? For example, do you find that you get bigger/thicker hits the more finely grinded the herb is, or does this make a difference? And yes, I do own screens so I don't mind grinding it fine. But last night I noticed something: I simply broke up the herb with my fingers, old school style, into somewhat large chunks. I didn't use a screen, but I got massive and numerous hits from one bowl.
3. How often to you stir the bowl with the poker tool while you're vaping, and does this make a big difference in getting more hits? (sometimes its a little cumbersome to remove the bowl and stir it while I'm driving).

I'm sorry for the long post and thanks to the people who took the time to read it. I will report back shortly with pics of my new third-party case and my attempts at making a stealth cover for the glass tube (special thanks to Vapormatic for the idea and info). To all the FC'ers and AA owners thanks again for this thread and keep up the good work. To all prospective AA owners and those interested in buying one: Go get one, you won't regret it. Vape on.

Regarding chargers for the Air's 18650 Li-Ion batteries.......

I own and have always recommended both the Nitecore I4 and D4. The D4 has the advantage of showing you the voltage of battery, charging time, and mAh being put into battery. Also shuts down after I think 10 hours of charging. Maximum is 750 mAh to save your fragile batteries. The Air's built-in charger charges at 1200 mAh, which results in a faster charge but a bit more wear on your battery.

Personally me and my friends avoid the cheap crap Chinese (no offense there, folks, I love the Chinese) $3 chargers (yes you can get same chargers for $3 from china)... they are not intelligent and could pose a fire hazard.

NEVER charge batteries unattended ! This means you do NOT leave the house while your batteries are charging, or sleep while they charge. Using advanced chargers like the D4 will almost guarantee your safety but isn't taking a tiny bit of precaution worth not losing your home or life ?

Invest in a good charger like a D4. It's $30 on ebay , approximately. You're worth it.
I4 is okay, but I prefer the digital readout and advanced intelligent charging the D4 offers.

Safety first !

I did that and got the D4 as well as the USB single battery charger and while they're nice to use, I'm wondering if it doesn't reduce the max capacity of the batteries after a few charging cycles. I haven't been the most caring with my batteries though and always charge them to full after they show the red light on my AA (I know @OF, I know ).

I've noticed this evening for instance that after charging one battery to 100% on the USB charger, it was showing 4.09v an hour later when I plugged it in the D4 to check my batteries level. I don't know if it's recent, I hadn't paid much attention so far and didn't differentiate my 3 batteries (which are almost 2 months old and been in heavy rotation).

I'll pay more attention and will try to note the max capacity as well as how low they get once they trigger the redlight on the AA.

reminder: nice chargers but Arizer doesn't recommend accessories that are not theirs and the reasons might not "just" be money related.

"NEVER charge batteries unattended...or sleep while they charge." I often vape, then put the Air on charge & go to bed. WTF, this is rather alarming! Maybe I am ignorant, but I hadn't heard that before & have always charged batteries & appliances, including the Air, while asleep or out. You would think Arizer (& other manufacturers) would certainly state some kind of warning about doing this.

Sorry for quoting the whole post, haven't figured out how the quote thing works.

Fine. Surprised to see so many like'd this post, considering EVERY charger and battery supplied for the Air (should) come with this warning.
These little hi amperage 18650s are a bit different than your laptop battery in terms of safety, especially when the manufacturer of the battery is unknown. Also, your high amperage chargers are different as well.
That said, I wouldn't yell at someone necessarily if one were to use a D4 or comparable at night. I certainly wouldn't advise leaving the house with it on, but, it's up to you and how much you value your home.
A quick lookup of Li-Ion fires and explosions online is great for a wake up call. Happy hunting/viewing.

they do. I've seen it dozens of times as I look at battery sites.

Just want everyone to be safe out there, portables and 18650 li-ion batteries are new to a lot of people.

Can you tell me about how to work with the one i posted the link to that just arrived? Plugs in my truck, inverter, usb and basic wall outlet style combo?

It provides all the info about wattage and everything but i dont want to plug in my air or ppro and have the units go to sh*t.....

Please and advance thank you.
I can try to figure how to post pics if needed

Oh I have no idea about the aftermarket chargers. But I do know this, if I didnt feel safe using aftermarket charger at night then there is no point in buying it for me (especially if it takes hours to charge). I was more referring to charging in the arizer air.

I'm with you there. External chargers chosen at random (and likewise for batteries) are perhaps another case, but I too have confidence in Arizer's ability to build a safe charger. For sure there are a LOT of Solos out there that haven't melted down.

I'm big on being safe, as I think many/most here are, for that reason I'm sticking with the approved factory battery. But I'm confident enough doing so to turn my back on the Air while it's charging it's battery. IMO life is not risk free, one has to asses both the risk and downside in such cases and get on with life. There are drunks on the highways, but avoiding them means staying at home.

Hey everybody. I just ordered the AA to Denmark from a US webshop, there was no EU chargers available. So now I'm wondering if it's OK on the battery just to use a cheap travel plug converter. I really don't know anything about electricity or batteries at all :D

If it's bad for the battery is the power adapter a regular one that I could buy a Danish version of from any store over here? I don't want to pay for shipping again.

Thanks, amazing community btw!

First off, howdy! Welcome to the Forum and all the fun. Great choice with the Air, a much bigger 'leap of faith' for those of you who have to import them. We Yanks are lucky indeed to live 'next door' to the maker across a very casual (from a customs POV) border. Air is already showing up in the usual distributors.

Anyway, to your point, you should be fine once you mechanically adapt the plug. The charger I'm looking at (no doubt the one you'll get?) is rated 100 to 230 Volts, 50/60 cycles. No electrical conversions are needed.

There's a reminder sheet inside that amongst other good advice is 'fully charge before first use', the battery is probably a bit over half charged as shipped (or should be for maximum battery life). Otherwise, set some herb aside for the upcoming ride. Get to know it a bit, try different levels and draw techniques. It's a very capable machine in that respect.

Regards and best wishes. Enjoy your Air, it's a good one for sure.

I have no doubt the Arizer Air's charging system is peachy keen, go ahead and plug them in to charge... I simply am stating what every battery and charger manufacturer says to do.
On the one hand, you all stick vehemently to Arizer's warranty rules etc. yet on the other hand choose to ignore the safety warnings applicable to these types of batteries and charging systems. All too often, as to not scare off the customer, these facts are put to the side and/or completely ignored.
I ask you to read up on ANY li-ion battery safety advice regarding unattended charging, then try to tell me somehow this does not apply to you.
Yes of course life has lots of risks, sure. Using a car was one example given. However the use of a car is pretty much mandatory for life, whereas not wanting to wait 2 hours to charge your batteries is not.
Again, your choice. Just seems odd you all are such sticklers for rules unless they are inconvenient for you.

Can you tell me about how to work with the one i posted the link to that just arrived? Plugs in my truck, inverter, usb and basic wall outlet style combo?

Sorry @VisiblyVaped , I can only find a post where you mention it ,with no specifics such as brand, type, model, et cetera.... link me to the post/charger in question please.

Again aside from all the serious stuff......
