I have 1 left on hand!@JCat
Do you still have a conversion set available?
My SV4 is quickly becoming a staple on my desktop and I want to have a digital SV3 as well!
I wish more people would either go for your mod or buy the SV4.
These vapes are seriously under-rated and are serious performers!!
I have 1 left on hand!
And enough material to make 4 more I believe ... after that I’ll need more aluminum.
I joined this pack of savages earlier this week after I was able to see pick up a sv3 with a metal 18mm male stem from the vape critic. @JCat made the process super painless and now that things are dialed in with the sv3 I feel like a whole new machine has been unlocked! This converted sv3 is a high performance beast now that has incredible calibration! I tried a small load of indica last night with some kief I tried to collect in the straw as well and I would say I I had to come back to that vapcap sized load three times to complete the goal because I was struggling to choke down all that pure white vapor!
@lazylathe I am glad you are joining the crew! I can’t waitbtonhear your thoughts on similarities and differences between the sv3 conversion and your sv4, which has been working great for you as I understand it!
Excited to join the club as well!!
It's a well made add on that instantly boosts this vapes performance many times over! As you say, it takes a while to dial it in but once you have it, it is a monster.
Just flower is enough for me!
Adding stuff is just crazy! Try some concentrate on flower, too much vapor to handle!
It's a shame that the SV3 is no longer being made...
That is why I felt compelled to jump when I saw that Bud was selling his. It also seems like the stem I have is not a usual piece of equipment.
I think the addition of the kief pushed it over the edge for me last night. I was feeling so floored after that multi-stage hit that I only needed to take an ambient to nod off to sleep where I am usually having to take a slew of other otc medications as well as more doses of cannabis.
I would like to build some sort of heat-shield to surround the heat exchanger to help prevent an injury if I knock it over or if my dog happens to knock things over (this is the scenario I’m more concerned with.)
Does anyone have any ideas for a cheap diy cover I could use?
When I saw this on the MiniNail site it got me thinking a little that someone with a little metal working skills might be able to build a heat shield similar to this ... (maybe just a replacement stand with a built-in heat shield? One that could work for both SV3 modded and SV4?) ... air is a great insulatorDoes anyone have any ideas for a cheap diy cover I could use?
Do you have a pic of the stem you have?
I saw that Bud was having a massive sale and the prices were pretty awesome! I had to restrain myself...
LOL!! Flower hits are almost dab like and then add something like kief and it turns into rocket fuel!
I was hitting my SV4 with the short EVO mouthpiece and it was crazy!! So much airflow!!
Not sure if a heat shield would do the trick and I may have a better idea!
Cut a keyhole slot in the base and smooth the edges.
Screw a screw into your vape station and then when not in use, just "dock" it securely!
Yet another HIGHdea!!!
@Hogni Essentially the outside of the convo kit becomes the heat exchanger since it is actively part of the actual heat exchanger. The heat up time is minimal as well and once up to temp, does not drop during a hit.
FYI everyone ... I'm making some custom SV3 stems as well ... this is the first prototype. I'm thinking $10 each or 5 for $30. Comes w/ SS screen installed, and currently I've used doubled-up silicone tubing for the "washer" to make it fit 14mm GonG.
I guess I'll take three then, for $25.@Stu ... what sizes do you want? (ie. I can make the bowl length whatever you like)
The stem length is 2.125" (54mm)
The one in the picture has a 15mm bowl depth (~19/32") for concentrate wrapped in cotton. I also made myself one that has a 27mm bowl depth for flower.
Edit: updated price to:
1 for $10
3 for $25
5 for $35
Yes, of course I can include it with the other order; thanks for the dimensionsI guess I'll take three then, for $25.
I just realized looking at your pics that you are using the small end of the pinch for the bowl, I had just assumed they were the other way around like the OG bowls.
Since the OG bowls are what I'm used to, let's make 2 of them 34mm and one of them 20mm. I suppose that makes all three 34/20! Is it possible to include them with my other order?
This probably should've been a PM.... I'll report myself.
Here's my bowl setup:Do you use the silicone gasket/rings on yours? I know some people do and some people don't ... I personally don't mind the 14mm red ones ...
I'm not sure I'd like that tbh. The reason I went with the @Buildozer method was because I hated the larger grommet getting stuck in the joint during a hit; making it awkward to actually get it off to clear the hit. I really disliked that about the original design. If the folded silicone gets stuck easily too, I'd probably opt for a different solution but that's just my personal preference.Edit: You can wedge it in there pretty easily though, then the adapter becomes part of the stem/bowl and you can grip it by there; heat problem solved
I think the reason you can lower the temp, is better overall contact with the clamping mechanism w/ the SV3 conversion plates then the "pinched" in coil on the SV4 (just a theory). So you get better heat transfer w/ less lost to air, and thus can lower the overall coil temp to achieve the same body temp for the mass of aluminum.Just to wake this thread up again!!
This Covid break has made me clean up and go through my boxes of vape stuff acquired over the years.
Today I found my SV3 conversion set! Somehow the plates were separated and today I found the other side!!!
The SV4 is my daily driver or possibly was my daily driver...
A few points to note:
I ground the weld joints on my SV3 to allow the conversion plates to sit lower and evenly.
I also shortened the tube to match the length of my SV4. I despise the tube loading system and never use it, so this is not an issue for me. About a 1/2 inch was removed.
I rewired my old High5 coil to work with my new Abuer 300.
When I first used the conversion kit I found it to not be as effective as when heated with a torch. It was used for a bit and then shelved when other vapes arrived.
The SV4 pretty much took over as my DD as it was more consistent than torch heating the SV3.
Fired up the SV3 wearing it's body armor that acts as a massive heat sink and let her heat up.
This took a while longer than my SV4 takes but I would imagine it just takes longer to heat all the metal up.
I started at 320C, my SV4 perfect temp.
Loaded up a bowl of Wizard Punch and let her rip...
OMG are my eyes deceiving me??
Vapor tapers off and the exhale is just as huge, not as tasty as my SV4 though.
ABV is WAY darker than I usually go but no stirring and no second hit required!
Holy Shit batman these effects are WAY stronger as well!!
I continue dropping the temp all the way to 300C, 20 degrees Celsius should do the trick.
Nope, still too dark! This thing has just turned into a beast at low temps!
Down to 290!! ABV is almost an orange/brown color with better flavor.
Can anyone explain how the ABV can be so dark at such a low temp after one hit?
My SV4 runs 35C hotter and the ABV is nowhere close to this dark.
I think I have a new DD for a while! These effects are very heavy in the body, perfect for my AS!
Going back up to 295 for a quick video!
0,5g of Wizard God with the Convo3 at 295 Celsius, one hit!
