-puts out fires (flare-ups)
-prevents same, used judisciously
-modulates hits (slows and speeds up draw)

This is something that you need to figure out in action... theoretical talk wont help much...

Example:
*you get a nice sized dab on dabber, and are lowering it into cup....
*you dab in there, and then as you lift the tool away from nail a drip was left on dabber......
* You have used half your lungs capacity....
* the drip falls off dabber and into the TiNail (cup).......
let's stop here for a second.....
OK, so your instinct as this HUGE cloud forms will be to inhale as hard as you can..
BUT.. your lungs were too full, and you inhale to max, and Poof the fumes become a fireball
1- That fireball can be dampened if you do NOT inhale and ball the top
or
2- You use the Ball earlier.... as I hold dabber... I always hold ball in other fingers_
2hwz7q.jpg

I continue:
*As your drip hits the nail, you keep holding nail as you see , and stop hole with ball (don't let go, keep it in hand so you can open/close gap),
you then can inhale with much less air... and control the cloud.. because the restricted air intake gives you complete ability to control the outcome.
*fluctuating that ball's "seal" will allow you to breath at half the speed or less, and get the same amount of "FOG" cleared out of that dome, preventing flareups by "keeping that vapor moving" in the intended direction.
Those are just a couple of aspects of that ball's utility~

My SSV has been on three years non stop.
At bedtime, I do reduce the temp to lower setting and at 4 a.m. I put it back to 1 pm on the dial.

Here is my philosophy:
The only actual mechanical working part on the SSV is the On/Off switch.
The temp control is a sliding rheastat...
In a home ... the light switch and every other On?off switch gets a span of 25,000 clicks before it is dead/worn.
My SSV has had in 3 years MAYBE a dozen clicks......
I have reduced the potential failure causations by a high percentage, leaving my failure rate dependent on my own foolhardiness. (dropping unit from the roof etc.)

So you actually increase it's life by leaving it on? That's awesome.

dropping unit from the roof etc.
So you like to laugh then

I gotta hand it to the guys at 7th floor. Not only is the product living up to my every expectation, the paint job is phenomenal! I bought a blemished unit so I didn't know what would come. but the housing ended up being what I originally took for gold. but it is far more than gold. there are layers of paint that come through with different light. in the sun it looks vivid green, artificial light makes it gold, and evening light turns it a beautiful creamy coffee. Sometimes I even see hints of red. Its like something you'd see on a pimped out ride haha. I love it.

About the fireball, with vitos help I discovered that too big of dabs pulled too slowly will create one every time. as long as I don't overload the dabber and rip quickly there is no risk of flame. I hate that flame, my roommates cant quite get it, it leaves soot deposit on the dome and wand, yuck.

and.....
if you are collecting that oil in the resevoir...
DO NOT inhale when the fireball comes... thinking that you may extinguish it with breath....
All you will achieve is a layer of dark soot on your golden reclaim!

I am not seeing any reclaim buildup in that bubble, or anywhere but the dome really. done about a g through it since I cleaned it and don't see anything. am I just impatient? I thought oil reclaim built up quickly.

you must use the wand.... and lean it this way and that appropriately, to get the oils to flow into that resevoir.
Photoon2013-02-28at1041.jpg

After a few sessions, I heat the end of wand with the hose and lean it forward for a bit.
After each hit I do same leaning it back for a few seconds.

maybe a week~
Oils hit the screen, and then they slid down and build up.
It's fun to watch and assist.
I showcase it on the Video.

Got myself a nice new scientific bubbler from Aqua Lab Technologies, order a standard heater cover and wand, AND ordered a vapor bros. mini wand.

As soon as all this stuff gets here I'm gonna hand a field day with trying this all out with my SSV. :D

What bubbler did you get? I got my seed of life vapor bubbler from them and it rocks! If your interested In a good ac check out the honeycomb perc on alibaba. I've got it and a double chamber showerhead and tree ac as well, and just purchased the infamous vapor bub from pipesdaddy for travel.

I could never come up with some of these solutions that you guys do to make just about anything work! Lol, I'm just glad to be a recipient of such good products/information!!! Touché

As you can see, one of the prongs for the temperature/on control on my ssv broke. When I first bought this unit and after using it for a couple months, the guy at 7th floor helped me tighten it back over the phone because over time it is common for it to come loose and not work properly. Well I thought I remembered how to do it the right way myself, so when it was time to do it again; low and behold this happens. Not surprising at all to me. This is just what happens everytime I touch anything. When this happened it worked fine for a while without the knob on it, and I eventually bought a light saber vaporizer. Well fast forward a couple months, I never sent it to get fixed for some personal reasons. At the time of it breaking I called 7th floor and chris told me that it would need to be sent off for repairs. I paid for the shipping, and then exchanged information and so forth... I got an email and printed my shipping label, but since have not had the chance to send it off, I have been out of state for an unexpected extended stay and I would probably say its been about a month. I just wanted to ask; if I still have the shipping label, is it still good/valid to send to 7th floor for the repair?

It's a B. Wilson with a six arm tree perc bub.

It's not the craziest most insane bubbler but I don't have a bubbler yet (let alone a nice scientific one) and I wanted a decently priced one that had a female top so that I could buy heady slides to use on it or just stick my SSV hose in it. I checked out some videos on Youtube and I liked the size and how it looked like it hit.

It was only $200 and this plus the new wands and heater cover should keep me experimenting for a while. I guess some could argue that the tree perc makes it pretty similar to my straight tube but whatever. lol

Yes.. I think it is (This is not dead certain)
If you want you can do a makeshift repair, however....
you can "fatten up" that single remaining prong.
use neatly cut electrical tape.. tightly wound, or use very fine wire wound around it.
this will allow the knob to stay in place, and turn. The knob should be treated gently at that point as it's center of torque will be offset from the posts turning center.

pipesdaddy.com has an 18.8mm vapor attachment you might be interested in, cheaper than the ssv elbow piece at least...

Always in a state of confusion and silliness♀
Trickfire...on the shipping label issue I don't think it is valid so just call them and get a new one. They should have a record of the first one that wasn't use.

As far as DYI of course vito is the man if you choose to do it that way. Vito forgot to tell you something that we said in the last few pages. Never turn the SSV off cause the only part that can break is the knob since it is the only mechanical part.

Anyhow good luck which ever way you choose.

Ok, so I want to get my SSV setup like Vito's, with the LSV wand and LSV HC. Is that what he's using when he refers to his SSV as hand held?

Anywoot, what do I need to do to accomplish this? Just get the LSV wand and HC and that's it? Are there any mods or anything I have to do?

I want all glass and a shorter connection from the source to my lungs and his setup looks like what I want. I only saw a post with pictures, however, and no details. Where's the original post? Anyone have a link?

Also, I'm trying to figure out how to get my SSV ABV as dark as I can with my Cloud. With my current SSV setup, which is using the spherical ground glass wand, I just can't get my ABV as dark as the Cloud gets it. If I try to go any darker than light brown, I either get no vapor or it combusts.

Hand Held refers to a wand that you DO NOT leave stuck in a GonG connection.
b1421860-f56c-4d5f-ba39-32ec39224be7.jpg

The first setup here .. called "standard glass" is the one that is hand held.

To make this setup... get an LSV Transfer wand (Long OR Short).. and use a DBV heater cover.. (or the SSV ground glass heater cover (like in the CENTER image above). This will end up looking like THIS-->
Photoon2011-10-13at0856.jpg

If you decide to buy an LSV transfer wand.... AND and LSV Heater Cover.....
your finished resuly will be like what you see below:
ssvlsv.jpg

*NOTE...
the Heater cover I removed from the SSV in the bottom picture, is the 3rd type of Heater cover.
Before I install the LSV HC.. you can see the black SSV has the "SPHERICAL" heater cover from the very top image here.

Yeah, that's badass, Vito. Which way do you prefer? I think I might prefer the LSV + LSV HC method, the bottom picture, but I'll go with whatever way work better i.e. best vaping results.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to get my SSV ABV as dark as my SSV ABV without combusting. Maybe it's just the spherical wand and HC that suck?

Perhaps the LSV wand + LSV HC will be better?

Is this all the SSV needed? Was a proper screen? Wtf? Good lord...

That's what I've been trying to tell you, :p.

I received my VB mini wand last Thursday, been running it through some tests. It only took one use for me to remember why I use dual screens, it let more debris through than any of my other SSV wands, it was so bad I had floaties in my water pipes water, that never happens. So I took a 3/4" screen (EQ screen was too big), crimped a couple bends at the top of the screen, and made it into a perfect little dome screen. Works like a charm,.

Still think I prefer the SSV wand + EQ screen though. So much easier to adjust the screen and stir the flowers.
