Thought I'd send my SuSV43 out to my buddy in LA. Thought I had it packaged securely.

Of course I didn't wrap it securely enough. Nor did I get the address right (I blame autoformat on pirate ship), so it came back to me with the spherical ground glass heater cover busted and balls everywhere. I don't plan on attempting to ship it again. Instead I'm gonna fly one of my vapbongs out there with me for him in a couple weeks as a housewarming gift.

I had a mix of rubies and boro (the super heater cover is HUGE, took many balls). I noticed some of my boro balls had fused to the heater cover. I wasn't too pleased but I was able to pick almost all if it off.

Do I need to shop for more rubies? I don't think any glass particulate will make it through the herb and bong, but is it still a big no no?

I have a new heater cover coming Monday. Much harder to place the screen on the super's heater cover, but I didn't know that when I bought it. Still looking forward to reassembling it, just to have a super heavy hitter handy.

@Philabrookla can you walk me through your set up in the video? What are you using to bridge the gap between the SSV and your water pipe?

I've really been wanting a better adapter for my bongs, currently use a whip with an adapter on the end but would prefer it to be all glass and a shorter air path before it hits water.

It's a drop-down, then a 90° male-male adapter my buddy blew for me so I could rip volcano bags through a bubbler without having the bag right in my face.

Using an o-ring instead of a 14mm male:18mm female adapter to fix it to the extra large spherical ground glass herb chamber.

This is probably better to keep the vapor path diameter as wide as possible

Does anyone have links to the proper screens I need for this? In particular the small basket screens I've seen people use to cover the air intake on the heater cover?

After a bit of measuring my own wand and more importantly the screen that sits in it I believe that the wand that I have is the same size as the flavor disc wand as it too has a screen which is about 20 mm wide. The arizer dome screen sits as you’ve described so you may have the same size wand.

If the flavor disc wand should turn out to be too wide I think that I’ll cut the rim of the basket a couple to a few times and bend the cut rim outwards to hold it in place. I might even try it anyway to see if I end up with a dome screen that sits snugly in place.

Thanks for the flavor disc idea. I actually put the disc in a basket screen the other day before I saw ur comment. I kind of held the wand back a little bit from the heater Now I will cut the bottom of the basket and seat the disc back further, so thanks

I don't remember exactly, but mine was definitely under $200, I'm thinking about $180, but that was around 2007 or so.

I feel compelled to express my appreciation for the SSV. I've had mine for about 15 years and it has always worked flawlessly. Over that time I've changed jobs 4 times, got married, had 3 children and moved houses twice. The SSV has remained my reliable companion. Once I accidentally left it on for 3 weeks when I went overseas and it was entirely unbothered. I've had a few different portables, but have never felt inclined to invest in another desktop beause it works so well.

I actually kinda want it to break so I can show my appreciation by buying another one.

Well, it smells like any dry herb vape, or any enail with the dab attachment. It is not at all like the smell of combustion. Hope this helps

I'm a fresh SSV user, received my unit about a month or so ago, also added the quartz enhancer after deciding not to risk the ball mod.

My question is this - am I doing something wrong? I seem to get pretty nice clouds but nothing as dense as the bong ripping video from the official channel.
Full power blasted, I'm not anywhere close to combusting and it takes a few good slow puffs to get the vapor going. Fast inhale doesn't really seem to work, even with the bud heated up.
If I want to go through the bowl completely I need to sit down for a lengthy session of slow tokes, which is great for those sesh times, but I get this feeling like it's missing some power or the way I work it isn't spot on.

Any beginner tips? Thanks!

Does the rod glow at maximum power? Does the tip reach the top of the inside of the quartz tube?

How are you packing the wand? The material must at least cover the screen.

Hey, yes it glows quite bright. The quartz is situated as close to the rod as possible, in appearance it's just like instructed, the quartz itself is not touching the glass heater cover.

I tried packing the herbs differently, small packs, bigger packs, loose/dense, I seemed to get various results, mostly lengthier session for bigger packs and more stirring required to get even baking/coloring.

Don't get me wrong, the thing slaps and produces vapor but I got confused when I heard it's possible to combust with the surfer, seems impossible from my experience so far. Also, I'll mention the "How to get big hits" video again, my wand doesn't seem to milk up, even with the slowest of pulls, the way it does in the clip.

Is this just my mind playing tricks on me?

It's really easy to open it up and adjust the height. I moved mine up until it is about 1/8 of an inch below the cover, it might be different with that quartz tube.

Note that the SSV works best with a very slow and long inhale of 15 seconds or more. If you pull too fast you cool it off too much, the quartz tube is supposed to help with that (i've modded mine with rubies). I didn't love the SSV without the rubies, the required pull rate was just too slow for me.

There's some space between the top and the heater, between 1/4-1/8 of an inch, I snapped a picture if it helps tell anything.

It was my third vaporizer purchase - the first two being the Ubie and then the Vapor Genie.
Between now and then I've bought a few more used SSVs if I found them cheap to give away ultimately.
I keep two in the apartment, one is backup.
I like the idea of dedicating one SSV as a dab dish station, and the other for bud.

I raised the rod as much as possible and tried bending the bars in the base a bit so the cover can slide down further, I think I got the quartz enhancer as close to the cover as I can without them touching each other, just a little space between them.
I tried hitting it but I think I packed it too small to notice a difference... quite medicated after some previous trials haha didn't wanna go overboard

Anyway, I'll report back again once I fill up the wand properly

Reporting back! I can't seem to edit my post so I'll make this a double...
Well, I tried a proper pack in the wand and honestly I can't say there's much difference from before raising the rod. I did notice better vapor production when inhaling fast but slow is still where it's at, great clouds when done properly.
I did manage to make it combust though... by having a cough mid-toke and having everything fly into the heater lol think there might still be some herb pieces down there beneath the cover x)
