If you don't have a good seal, you'll be drawing cool air in through the gaps along with the hot air from the main feed, which will significantly cool your SSV; ground glass is the best for sealing in my experience.
I'm a newbie when it comes to high powered vaporizers.

I wanted a joint so bad however I can't handle the flavor?

Gross is a understatement!

Ordered a ground spherical setup with a mouthpiece.

The Customer Service is the best I've experienced with these types of products.

I have more glass pieces coming any day now.

To hook up a SSV thru a water path is going to be killer!

I need to buy a water unit for the SSV. I just took two hits from it there that brought tears to my eyes there were that thick...

They go very well together. I use a cheap dhgjate fc-187 with my ssv. I bought the water adapter, but mostly just put the mouthpiece on the ground glass inlet on the water pipe. It seals enough to work, although the adapter works better.

I ussually hit it dry for the first handfull of flavor rich hits, then finish with long slow pulls through glass. One good bowl last me several hours.

Look's like i'm finally getting a Ssv after being interested in it on and off for about a decade.
I wanted a more pure tasting large desktop to go with all my wonderful Log's. I had a Eq for that and really enjoy blowing large bag's for company, But i always noticed a bit of a hairdryer flavor so i rarely took advantage of the elbow pack or using a Evo style set up for solo use. The fact that you have to heat it properly and can't be on 24/7 was another deciding factor.

I find it funny how few post there are on this one compared to the Eq, I'm well aware it's because the popularity in general of vaporizers only started blowing up out east in the U.s around 2012, And this got popular with a once very small vape market well before 2012, Now it's all about the portables and poor 7th floor isn't getting the hype they should be getting over the Super surfer. I bet if it came out along with the Eq version of the Extreme it would be a different story.

I think i'm going for the cosmetic second Ssv with recycler. I did notice it said the style may vary tho and really like the pictured one, So what all styles did you guy's receive with your's?

The Silver Surfer is a far more difficult vape to own and operate than the EQ. I agree that it is more efficient and has better tasting more potent vapor, but a lot more can go wrong. This is a two handed vape unlike the EQ and you have to constantly stir. It has a lot of glass pieces and many of them break pretty easily. This is also way more expensive than the EQ. Overall I like this better than the EQ but $ for $ the EQ is better.

The lights are a big part of why I can't take that thing seriously. Why would they invest all that time and R&D into a device and then make it look like something you pick up off the dollar shelf at CVS the week after Christmas?

But then I look at the $550 suggested retail price ($700 if you want a picture on it, for some reason) and just can't get the attraction. 7th floor might want to do some outreach to get these into dispensaries next to the Volcano workhorses if they really want me considering this device.

I agree with your perspective on the Super Surfer but I think it has a built-in problem that prevent people from seriously considering this vape. In my opinion the main problem people have seriously considering to buy a Super Surfer are the LED lights.

It does not matter that it has the most superior pure bag system on the market bar none --- including the volcano. It doesn't matter that it has a quick change ground glass adapter for the heater cover which is head and shoulders better than the SSV. It doesn't matter that it has a more open draw with less restriction in the air path than the SSV. All people notice about the Super Surfer are the stupid LED lights.

I personally feel the Super Surfer's bag system is easily worth $200 dollars more for the bag capability alone, but bags will never sell this vape because people are lite

I had forgotten the lighting situation was such a big deal for a lot of people on here. I would have been all over it on Mass drop for $280 i think it was, But the one year warranty kinda swayed me away, That and i just didn't have the extra cash even tho it seems like a steal.

I will most likely reconsider if the Ssv is anything like i'm expecting, And it goes on sale for around $350. The bag vape market is pretty limited and the Super really look's like the best bag choice for me.

Edit...

I forgot to ask if anyone here has used any kind of rigged all glass dry connections? I am pretty sure this would work with the ground glass, Maybe a 18-18 m adapter to J-hook. The Lsv concentrate stem should fit the ground glass Hc, But you would have to pick the unit up or awkwardly sit to draw.

Idk. Ive broken my wand twice in 2 years which I would say is about average for an owner. It was pretty frustrating to pay $44 each time for shipping in the new piece. Also after about a month my ground glass gets rubbed raw and I need to hold it in to take hits. The SSV is still a great vape; I just wouldn't recommend it to someone who uses with more than one person or is clumsy.

Once the SSV is set up what could possibly go wrong? I don't get it and cannot think of a more simple vape that can match the vapor quality produced by a Silver Surfer. I vastly prefer it over an EQ every day of the week.
Really? Do people care that much about the lights? They're a little cheesy, but at worst they're just ugly. Still a quality vape but the cano is a better value.

I completely disagree with you that the volcano is a better value at all because all you have is a cumbersome bag vape in the end. Bags for me are very secondary where the whip reigns supreme. For what I like my volcano just doesn't cut it as my go-to-vape. On the other hand any of my SSV's will always scratch my itch just right.

Plus you have lights to scratch that itch.

Glass breaks, but the SSV glass wands are very thick and they don't break very easily. I have used at least half a dozen SSV stems over the past 5 years, ground glass and standard, and I've never broken any of them. I have broken a DBV stem and HC, however. I've also used a ground glass hc and wand combo in the SSV for years and I never experienced any "grinding" despite daily use. Thats why your comments about easily broken SSV parts baffled me. I've used a lot of vaporizers and I don't know of too many that are built more sturdily than the SSV, including the glass. Nor have I ever seen anyone complaining about the SSV being particularly fragile.

The SSV and EQ I have among others.

The Q is OK.
The SSV has fewer thing to go wrong.

The Favor of the SSV is really good.
Effect wise I would say the SSV is way more powerful!

The EQ is OK when you need a smaller dose.

I got my new heater cover and wand and the SSV is very effective!

SOUR LEMON DROPS OG very power in the SSV!

Let's face factS!

I love to get medicated!

This SSV is racial.

Happy new Year fellow surfers.

Well my SSV arrived just before Xmas, but the dimmer blew up an hour after I switched it on.bang,a tri-resistor blew on the dimmer board into pieces.

Kris @seventh floor was quick pronto to send out a new dimmer kit and I was up and running for new year

r1zb5e.jpg

So it's a blem,but I still can't find the blemish, so I lose that one.:D

The base was originally silver but I liked the SSV purple base,so I sprayed it with some enamel from a local hardware.the control knob has matching purple too So it works out.

Jeez in ways though,Im happy to have bright, breezy colours.20 Years of sinister TV and movies might have pushed me in a lighter brighter direction haha.

I've named her after the Scooby character Daphne, because of the colour and also I've been properly bitch slapped by her on more than one occasion over this Xmas.

Magnets... of course,on the base to hold the glass poker and stop it smashing on tiled floors

But,I am still having issue with my SSV .i can't come anywhere near combusting even on full temps.I have tested the dimmer with a meter and it's running from 137V on minimum to 240V on max which is right for where I live,so all I can think of is the element must be dodge.I can't get my ABV to dark brown even on max with a slow draw.

I can't write a review yet but my temps averaging 180C/355F is allowing some nice low temp clouds.the flavour is top notch for a whip vape and so cool and pleasant
i think though, I'll try it with the UFO when I can achieve max temp hits.the clouds are big big with this unit.
No hot spots at all in my bowl even after several rips just a slow change from green to light brown which says to me this is how vaping should be.good flavour right the way through.

Love the heavy glass pieces, can't help feeling I might drop the wand at any moment though.
Enjoying aiming heat into the bowl using the standard cover..thanks Vitolo:tup: for that one,I'm a good ways through reading the entire thread.

Oh well,I'm looking forward to my unit being fully functional someday soon.

Ataxian ,stoked You are up and surfing.from one kind to another eh?.....it's all good bro.btw look out for tokin.hes in Maui I believe.a pioneer of the SSV.

I hope You all had a good holiday.i started mine watching the new Star Wars, really enjoyed it.who else felt like they were a kid again after watching it...a rehash yes,but so much fun seeing old and new come together in the movie.the chase scene with the falcon was a blast in 3D

Oh Wait there's the postman.Damn,my Vapcap is finally here..over and out FCers.

The business end on max power.

I was all over MAUI however NORTH SHORE OAHU, HAWAII is where the action was.

My SSV not only is effective however the flavor is not bad at all.
The UFO is sparkling clean with a CAISEN and ASH COLLECTOR.
Which mouth piece I'm not sure?

My base is silver and the can is black!
Pink or black I'll paint the base. (good tip)

PINE TREES OG from KAUAI to night after GSC all day.

The SSV is stronger and better than I ever imagined.

@u bwade wunner I did not follow through?
GDP was all ground up in my space-case so I used it.

On the NORTH SHORE we used scissors and did not have fancy grinders?

The flavor of outdoor California GDP taste very civilized!
Next to the PACIFIC!
Northern California Kine!

Thought You were still in Hawaii Man..no worries,my bad!!

I'm Using the EQ mouthpiece in my SSV hose right now testing it..i prefer smaller mouthpieces.

I actually like just drawing on just the whip, and no mouthpiece....one less piece of glass to think about.

Last night though,I stuck the SSV mouthpiece into the 18mm female joint of my Ion,and had some great water rips..I had to hold the mouthpiece there though,as I hit it.seal was pretty good

A 14mm female joint with the SSV hose is all You need though, for water or dry pipe action.
