Got my blemished unit in yesterday and it looks new to me. Did notice a couple things, I got a GG heater cover and wand, shouldn't the SSV come with a standard connection? Also I got the wrong heater cover for the oil kit, it looks like it's for the dbv since the hole on top isn't offset, the glass topper has no chance of staying on.

Otherwise I love the build of the thing and it was a great buy, just hope they'll replace the heater covers.
The gg wand/hc setup is pretty cool with its two screen positions, don't knock it till you've tried it

I just liked the idea of being able to move the wand and direct the heat. Don't get me wrong the GG is working great I was just expecting the standard.

Although, I guess the GG would be useful if I ever decided to add a bubbler.

The gg wand offers two different places to put the screen; one is closer to the heat source (at the base of the gg part) for one-hitters, the other gives you a bigger bowl to puff away on (where the tube starts).

I love the GG wand when I'm playing a video game or want to set it up for a friend to hit at their leisure :)

Just to pipe up re: the blemished SSVs, I have one and it has a tiny, almost unnoticeable little chip in it. Definitely worth it for the price discount alone, it doesn't affect performance at all.

Ah but you see, synergy from coupling SSV to a bubbler gives a hidden bonus of +5 to pleasure and another +7 to relax; plus after just a few turns you get a bonus boost to happiness as an adjunct to great taste.

On a related note, I'm starting to save up for another SSV (or maybe the SSSV) so I can have dedicated oil and dedicated flower vapes at the ready. This time I want to take full advantage of all the customization options, now that I understand the device better

I am certainly not going to obstruct you from making that choice

I assume you are talking SSV for concentrates and SuSV (if i say it enough, it's a thing!) for flower, which sounds ideal to me

I don't think my gg wand has two places for screens. Just the one at the pinch down spot. It doesn't really matter to me though. For quick, but small hits, I use the enano stem. I've also been using a homemade basket screen in the ssv stem. It gets the load slightly closer to the heater, and seems to preform better than a stock screen.

On a side note, I've been using a small piece of organic cotton in the stem as additional filtering. It seems like I'm always cleaning the stem and screen, about every 1-2 days, but at least now my wand is staying much cleaner.

I highly recommend using very fine screens. So fine that it doesn't let dust through at all.

I've tried cotton before but found it slows my draw down too much, how much are you using?

Very little. I pull off some and pull it until its real thin and wispy, then put it in the stem. I have had to remove it and take some out when, it restricted too much. The trick is to get just enough that it won't suck into the whip tube.

But for me it really helps to keep the whip clean. I've been crapping up whips at a fast rate and that is why I tried this. I change the cotton when I clean, and or change the screen, and clean the wand. I dip the cotton in alcohol to get any resins out before I toss it.

an elbow joint from an Airizer, a basket gauze and whip are perfect for intense one hitters on the 'Surfer as it gets real close to the element and the gg seal is almost air tight :)

Sometimes I use a enano stem like this on a GG heater cover. The silicone on the stem makes a good seal on the GG heater cover. But I do have to turn the heat down a bit, the heat setting is lower than with the GG wand because the herb gets closer to the heat.

I've been looking for screens to make homemade basket screens for my GG wand. All I've found around here locally are silver screen that are too wimpy to take the shape of a basket. I need a slightly stiffer screen. Does anyone have a source for high quality screens? Or is there a source of pre formed basket screens that would work in a GG stem?

I'm not sure about the GG stem as I don't have one, but these

Work great in my standard wand, I can have my herb any distance from the heat using these and means I can keep the dial set to around 9 o'clock and get great results.

And I know these are available from a U.S. source also.

According to the 7 th floor web site the GG wand takes a 14.8 mm screen, so a basket screen would have to be a bit bigger when flat. 20mm maybe? It does not look like the arizer screen would work in a GG wand, but thanks.

These measure 13mm but could be flattened a little (not sure how much, I will have a check), and just turning it on a ruler shows flat it would be 20mm, still without having a GG wand I cants say for sure, I know the standard takes a wider screen (in its normal position) but I use mine closer to the heat in the thinner part of the wand then for bigger loads just move the screen further from heat and turn it up, again not sure if the GG has a similar thinner part?

Im sure I remember people using official Arizer basket screens in the GG wand, could be worth a look through the last maybe 10 pages (can't remember when they were discussed)

you & me both, dude, however, I find they are a perfect fit for a top screen on the Firefly, much more so than any other gauze I have tried, so at least I have a use for one of them :)

Its weird how that happens with different brand screens being better suited for another brand's units

Maybe the modeling and rendering of the microscopic finger spearing splinters on the periphery of the screens (that one that made it under my nail, i will never forget you!!!11 :cuss:) caused the matrix to bug and match the screens incorrectly to vapes.

Maybe

Been using my SSV more often now that the LSV's Honeymoon stage is wearing off.

Still  my LSSV, but I just can't get the same gigantic clouds like I do with the SSV, even using the same exact HC. I'm thinking it has something to do with the SSV's shell, it keeps the ambient temperature around the HC hotter so it has a bigger heat mass?!?

My current favorite set-up is my 11mm LSSV GonG w/basket screen using a ~15" silicone tube. Much easier to handle than the huge SSV wands and you get instant vapor.

I need to feel the burn, I can't help myself. :freak:
