Have you considered the Vapor Tamer? I have no experience myself but it would help.

I have a couple tamers and I really like them. They preserve the pure glass airpath taste but cool the vapor to amazingly comfortable levels without any changes from running it through water.

If you decide to try one I would recommend the Saturn over the Fatty. Longer airpath and more glycerin to keep it cool longer.

I do like having two of these though. It's nice for multiple session nights. I can typically use the fatty for about 20 minutes before you start noticing the warmer vapor again. The Saturn will get you 30 or more minutes of vaping.

Once they start warming up you thrown them back in the freezer for a couple hours and you are good to go again. Please note that I let them level off to room temperature before I put them back in the freezer and I never run scalding hot water through them of you risk damaging the glycerin seal.

Damn @steama ! Do I feel the temptations of another 7th floor order coming soon?

Guys, what do you do when your screen looks clean but there's almost no airflow in the stem? If I pop out the screen it's fine but I don't have another that screen that fits and this one LOOKS totally clean so I'm very confused. I would try a totally clean and new one but I don't have one that fits.

(Edit: it looked clean until I took it out. It was gunky on bottom.

I knew when I could get a good hit off an unloaded wand, it was time, lol.

It's been fun dialing my ssv in the last week or so. I've migrated to medium loads in the standard GG wand, and I finish the session by switching the mouth piece with a water adaptor, and using my fc-187 to finish. Since I purchased the silicone whip tube changing end pieces is very easy.

And for smaller personal sessions, I've been using a fixed screen enano stem. It holds less herb, but it's enough for a quick session for me during the day. The silicone on the stem creates a nice seal in the female ground glass heater cover.

Since I've raised the heater, im keeping the heat dial at 11:30 for the nano stem and 12 noon for the ssv wand. But I do fine tune depending on variety differences.

The best feature I like so far is that I can leave it on, drop in the take a couple hits and walk away without having to finish the load right then. When I come back I pick up where I left off. This fits my day time use very well.

I noticed you had quoted one of my older posts before where I was lazy and bent the SSV whip inside of the nano stem. Have you stretched it on the outside like I later posted? It's unbelievably better without the air tube all bent up.

My throat has gotten quite irritated as of late so I hacked together my old bong and the SSV and achieved GREAT SUCCESS

I was quite stunned to see how significantly less irritated my throat was after a few sessions so I'm going to invest in some better connecting glass pieces. Thanks for the advice guys, I may still spring for a vapor tamer but right now even room temperature water is sufficiently soothing...

Yes, I have the whip on the outside of the nano stem. I'm not sure what type of whip came with my unit. (garage sale) the whip was hard to get on the stem. But since then I bought some silicone whip material that makes this much easier. I just wet the end of the stem and the whip slides right on.

I just remembered something I wanted to post about....last night I had a session with some wax and somewhere in the middle of the session (2 or 3 dabs in) the dab I was working with caught on fire. I usually set the SSV dial to max and go from there and haven't experienced it over the dozen upon dozen of hits I've had except this one time.

I suspect this dab was larger than usual but I don't imagine that will make much of a difference. Should I bother lowering the temp? I have played with lower temps and felt a very slight waxy coating in my mouth on occasion...gonna re-read the DBV Oil Nail Kit thread...

What's the "secret" on setting the screen on the first try? I'm using the handle for a small brush that comes with S&B vapes. Should I get something bigger? Closer to the stem inside diameter? Should I cup the screen first?

I'm surprised how fast the screen plugs up. Maybe I should use smaller loads, I may be leaving too much resin by not finishing a load. Sometimes i stop when its really hitting because im done in. Then I just dump it and start again with fresh herb. Or maybe it's the herb? Or temps? I'm staying around 11-11:30.

there's no getting around dirty screens. My favorite technique is chopsticks from both ends

I don't have one in my used ssv kit. I can make something do I guess. How do you insert the screen with the pick?

My technique:
1) Take the flat circular screen and mold it into a dome; I use the head of the pick, the tip of my pinky, end of a pen, etc. as a surface to wrap it around.

2) Insert the domed screen at a perpendicular angle to the mouth of the wand (pictures would help, unfortunately I'm at work); by this I mean put it in at a 90 degree angle to the final resting position.

3) Using the pick or some thin piece of metal (unfolded paper clip, chopstick, etc) push it in until it reaches the end of the loading wand and rests on the glass lip inside the wand

4) Jiggle your pick/chopstick/whatever furiously like a frenetic monkey fishing for a snack in an ant hill until the screen lays convex inside the wand (domed side up toward the mouth of the wand that interfaces with the SSV).

#4 there is a bit sardonic but I really don't have a better suggestion there, I just keep pressing and pushing it around until it sits correctly. Sometimes I apply too much pressure and crease the dome, so I have to remove and re-mold and re-fit it. Hope this helps!

edit: also, to answer my post above about dab temps, I read through this thread: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/da-buddha-dab-kit-nail.8427/ and it covered all of my questions. Just in case anyone else has similar questions

It does help, now I don't feel alone, lol. I kept thinking, I bet there is a quick unfailing way to do this. Apparently we do it about the same, especially #4. Maybe next time I'll try it straight....naaa

I am amazed how responsive the SSV is. I can notice a difference in vapor if I move the temperature dial no more than an eighth of an inch. That's about as responsive as a 911 Porsche.

I'm amazed how much vapor you get after you stir the load. The sessions seem to go on forever.

Anyone ever try a j hook to get around the wand/whip? With my ground glass heater cover it looks like I could set a screen in a male to male 18mm gong, and then it's just find the right j hook.

I need some help. I recently broke the knob on my ssv and it is no longer under warranty. Does anyone know the steps I would take to get it repaired?

You can buy another glass knob, no biggy. If its the switch itself, you may want to contact 7th floor directly to either get the right switch or have them repair it. Best of luck!

I believe I have converted all my Evo owning friends to the SSV way of life... All of them are heavy smokers sick of fussing with ELBs but the silver surfer hits so hard it impressed everyone!

@StRaNgEcLoUdS is it shattered? If not you can prob just get some super glue for a buck and call it a day.

I shouve been a bit more descriptive. The rod that the knob is on snapped off at the base if that makes sense.?!?

Thanks man and it is the rod the knob is on that broke. Knob is still good I've tried to contact 7 the floor via email 4 times and can't get a response lol TY
