Yeah that's an SSV quirk. I think the overall unit is an elegant solution for looking clean in front with a downward-angled heater cover. This is what the slanted tube design is all about. If the tube wasn't slanted, or didn't have a cut-out (which wouldn't look as slick as a bullet-tube), the heater cover would have to stick out like a faucet so you could get under it. This would look goofy (we could call it the gonzo tube) and would be hazardous to have hot glass protruding from the design.
Another benefit though is that the logo/front looks super clean with no heating element or cord, and maybe kinda discreet too depending on your colors. Can't really tell what it is unless you're 420 smart and you recognize the blown glass, and then you can only suspect unless you inspect it or know the SSV already.
I'm still waiting for mine. I think I'll be turning it 90 degrees (sideways - left hand knob, right hand wand) for vaping, and squaring it up again when done... we'll see.
If you don't care about the SSV downward design, maybe you shoulda gotten a DBV ... BUT BEFORE YOU GET SICK WITH REMORSE, enjoy the downward design - you won't be fighting gravity as you try to keep herbs spread evenly on your wand's screen (no spin just to avoid mess) - and the SSV's heating element has a greater surface area, it has aluminum housing, hand-blown glass parts... you got the pimp vape.
edit: idea: put the SSV on one of those lazy susan spinning things?
Or how about a table...
...with a hole in it?
NICE I've scowered the SSV site and didn't see these, thanks!! Posting pics when available... I had a quick search of this thread and saw people getting the blemished units but has anyone bought mouthpieces? ...

Maybe I should try this instead of the EQ elbow screens, but I think I'm done with my SSV thanks to my crappy wand. Tweek's mod does not work for my wand. I think my bore of my wand is still too big - the rimless EQ screen just slips down and cannot stay horizontal. Are those fine mesh?
I agree, ripping the ring off is a PITA, much better solution. I did two more this weekend.
Are the UD's screens adjustable? I just found out recently the e-nano screens are adjustable too.
I hate my wand. There I said it and feel better now.
@chimpybits, is it the standard wand that's displeasing you?I think the ssv is more versatile as far as different uses (aroma, oil kit),
while the lsv is a bit more transportable and can be used directly with glass.
Also the ssv is better for leaving turned on, so can be always at the ready.
Yeah! I've got a PN Pro WT as well as 2 14 mm bongs that I;d like to use. I like water vaping so that's a plus!I guess that depends on how you are going to use these vapes.
Do you have a waterpipe? Do you mind using a whip?
I've never used a LSV, but I'd figure vapor output is roughly the same, but I see no way the LSV could produce vapor as dense as a SSV w/standard HC. I'm curious myself, I've heard nothing but great things about the LSV though.

Yep standard wand. I didn't contact 7th floor about the wand. I've had my SSV kit for nearly 3 years so it's just something I've put up with and been too lame to rectify. Really should have picked up a better wand ages ago.Sorry to hear this. I doubt I'll ever part with my SSV, it can kick my a$$.
Do you have a pic of your wand? Have you tried contacting 7th floor about it(though I doubt they help you)?
My first wand was similar to your wand, but I doubt to your extremes. Had to switch to a bigger screen size.
But yeah I agree, the blown glass variable is real and can effect performance.
I really like my ssv,but I haven't tried a LSV to compair .Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. This is my first post on FC; I have been vaporizing for a little over a year now with Extreme Q and I have been loving vaporizing. I thought this may belong in 'Ask FC' but I decided to try posting here before a created a new thread. Therefore I apologize in advance if this is the wrong thread for this.
Recently I've been considering purchasing a new vaporizer as I've came across some money I didn't expect to receive (always nice ). The idea of pure tasty vapors delivered by an all glass vapor path has perked my interest. The SSV and LSV are the main ones that I'm considering.
Specifically, I was wondering about how much draw resistance (or drag, I'm not sure what the preferred term is) the SSV has? As well, if anyone here has used both the SSV and LSV, how does the amount of resistance compare? Furthermore if anyone could compare the amount of resistance they both have in comparison to the Extreme Q, that would be even better; although I realize that is a bit of a long shot.
Thanks all who have taken the time to read! In the meantime, happy vaping folks!
Just to elaborate for anyone who may not know already, the hose on the SSV and DBV is high temperature Silicone- resistance to 300+ degrees Celsiusbut it is not a all glass pathway because of the tubing on the whip......that being said I wouldn't worry about it.
I should have mentioned that in my post, that's why I said I wouldn't worry about itJust to elaborate for anyone who may not know already, the hose on the SSV and DBV is high temperature Silicone- resistance to 300+ degrees Celsius

Years ago, when the owner of 7th floor wanted this hose formula, but with a softer feel to it...
had to commit on his first order of tubing, to purchase enough of the formulated hose he wanted to circle the earth 9 times.
That is a great deal of hose, but they were sure it would be good!
