Half price for a shit unit!?! Jackpot! When spellcheck goes bad, lol. Good to hear your SSV arrived early and not too defective!
just saw the new titanium oil attachment for the SSV at my local headshop... basically it's a Ti dish that fits right onto the ceramic rod, there's a large globe heater cover that goes around it and connects out with a 18mm female ground joint... a Da Buddah-like wand connects with a nice little reclaim pocket and then there's a glass marble that sits on top (which I don't fully understand) to cover it while it's not in use... or perhaps to help with air flow after you drop the dab in... but I'd think in most cases you'd leave the marble off while you're hitting it since you'll have your dabber in there... eitherway, very cool, was retailing for $80... do want!
Are there any real drawback to having ground glass?
I'm thinking of switching because I don't like holding the wand to the heating element.
The hands free thing you speak of is for the Standard Heater cover and hand held wand.
(It works poorly)
You already have Ground Glass Heater Cover (heater piece?)... so all you need is a hands free (ground glass) wand They come with a screen already in them.
See the website and see some youtube videos and you will get the idea.
any tool can be hooked to any whip... just get the right adapters.
Generally speaking the GonG piece goes into the mouthpiece end of the whip, and then it goes to your glass.... so the glass becomes the mouthpiece.... at the opposite end of the tube is the wand.
I was mostly confused by all the different terminology of the different attachments. I found out I'll need to be buying my own GonG wand and I suppose I'll get a 18mm GonG adapter for it since the 14mm GonG adapter is useless for me?
You can still use your 14mm GonG adapter, just get an 18mm male to 14mm female adapter which can be found on ioffer or ebay. I scored one for about $15. That'll be cheaper than getting a SSV 18mm GonG adapter.
Got some custom glass from 7thfloor, been about a month maybe since i got my ssv and so far no complaints. Love the custom glass i got, black and white fritted wand and mouth peice with black tubing, hides all resi (i live with my non stoner sisters, they let me vape whever i want in our apartment but its important to me that they dont make incorrect judgements about residue buildup and vaping for health)
Only things im a bit disappointed in is the hands free adaptor, worked great for the first night but now it seems it cant keep an airtight seal, perhaps i need to bend it a bit, either way i still like how it holds the weed on the vape so it doenst spill when i put the wand down, but sometimes i forget it doenst seal and sit there vaping being like why no vape??? then i realise i forgot to hold it on lol. I think i was also just spoiled with an ExQ being totally hands free, the ssv is really more 'normal' in its non hands free nature.
Another weird thing, no matter what i try, i always seem to get a light combustion/very dark avb spot after the first toke on a fresh bowl, even if i roll the wand around on the heater and use a low tempreture it seems always i will get a small burn circle. doesnt seem to affect flavor and once you take that first toke and stir it a bit its fine. Still happens if i leave quite a bit of space between the heater and the weed, as in, not packing the bowl much.
Does this happen to anyone? it really doesnt affect me much but its just interesting.
Can anyone speak to the normal transfer wand vs the fatty transfer wand?
I'm interested in being able to pack more, at the same time don't want to sacrifice the quick instant extraction for something that'll take a long time and many stirs to finish...

As far as it can go is all you can askMine is down as far as it can go...........
I'm just wondering if other heater covers do sit flush.
