Hopefully the pics work. First pic is my new setup. Blue ssv. Governmint glass bubbler. My ssv grinder and a couple jars of the chairman sour d, the AVW in back. Couple of dime bag cases as well which are nicely padded and lots of pockets

Second shot is of the water chamber in my piece. Its like a tube with 6 holes. How do i classify a piece like this? A bong? Bubbler? Is its water action a perc? Diffuser? Anyway i love its small volume and seems to hit real smooth with no drag. Glad i went with a ssv and need a portable vape so i can get smoking out of my life completely. Was thinking a MFLB cause it seems discreet and small.

That's an inline style perc. And yes it's a perc, every water chamber is a perc by the definition of a perculator. Yours seems very unique as it's a little lay down mini inline bubbler or w.e you'd like to call it. Very very nice though! Looks like a great piece of glass, especially for vapor. I'm also an SSV lover who's looking for something more portable. I don'town the mflb, but that's an option I've considered to, but am hesitant because of mixed reviews on its satisfaction.

This is the wrong place to post about MFLB and glass discussion is tolerated but generally frowned upon in vape threads if I'm not mistaken. Not trying to play mod, I just wanted to comment on your MFLB hesitation Heos, and you haven't put an email in your profile. Suffice it to say that the MFLB is worth trying yourself, there may be mixed reviews, but I believe the positives outweigh the negatives.
To return to topic (almost), 7th Floor still rocks!! My DBV with SSV standard glass and a VB mini wand is my favorite vape.

cluffy,
I have an SSV that is amazing, but last night a friend of mine somehow toasted the hell out of the bowl. When I pulled off the wand a big thick plume of grey vapor?(smoke maybe) arose and the bowl was completely black (I did not see any visible fire). The bowl itself though smells like it has been smoked out of, and the hose did for a couple hours since my friend did not clear the entire thing.

I have my backup wand and hose that came with the SSV, but I really want to use my custom one that had this happen, i'm debating if it is a good idea to clean it and the hose or if its just a waste of time, I also feel as though the vape honey may be forfeit...

welcome to the only problem with the SSV -- the possibility of combustion. yes, you probably torched your bowl. The wand can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol, the whip IMO is tainted and should be replaced. I have not had any success with cleaning the smoke taste out of a whip. Cheers!

Does anyone ever raise their knob during their sessions or just inhale slower for higher temperature? Because I seem to get good thick smoke at only the 12:00 position, and my herb turns dark brown after about 4-5 hits. Should I turn it up more or just cash the bowl?

I found my sweet spot to be about 11-11:30 I came to this conclusion by getting to the point that after a couple of hits I started to get the popcorn burnt taste in my mouth. So I turned the knob down until I eliminated the taste.
There is light vape cloud going in but I exhale a large cloud out. This is consistent with what the SSV manual says as well.
Having said all of that I must say that a 1/2 to 3/4 filled wand (ground) last for hours
and when I inhale slow the cloud builds up so you can control the heating element like that.

There is a certain "burnt-ness" that will surely ruin your whip for good. If it was completed burnt in the wand, chances are your whip will never have the pure vapor flavor again. The only solution I have found is to simply order new whip from the DBV/SSV site. One option is to cut that new whip you get into shorter pieces (I find cutting into 1/3's is the best length) to have back up whips, clean and ready to go.

As for the wand, when I first starting vaporizing I didn't think to clean it, ever. I thought it was nice to build up that "wand hash". For the last year or so I have found I have absolutely no desire to reclaim the wand hash. It is too stale for me. Not to mention you cannot easily seperate the pure hash from the plant matter than gets stuck along with it.

Lately I have been cleaning my wand and screen every 4-5 days. I do vaporize quite heavily, though. If you let the wand get too dirty, it is easy to forget how much of a difference drag/vapor quality/flavor is lost with a dirty screen.

@As1504-- yeah check out the vids and forum there is lots of info about the wand and heater cover types. I went with speherical and love it for its perfect seal at various angles. I also feel the larger opening on the spehericl brings more hot air in, as the opening seems to be larger than the standard. The ground glass has a built in handsfree but i worry any downward hit on the wand with it in the GG and the heater cover and or wand are done. With my spherical and handsfree clip it just pops off if there was a incident.

I been enjoying my new vap over the past few weeks and frequently browsing here and vaping...which quickly prompted me to go get a new water piece to vape out of. Its a handheld mini bong i suppose, i dont know how to classify it. Governmint glass. Havent heard of them but the "G" logo in the first bulb of the glass is what attracted me to it at first, as my first name starts with G. Anyway its got a single, tube style perc with 6 holes in it. I love the way it hits with the ssv. I went for a smaller volume piece, with a single diffuser. My local shops didnt have any halo, waffle percs or anything cool like those. Maybe will take a trip to denver in a few weeks and see what i find. Any suggestions in the area?

Anyway i tried to add pics of my setup and it wont let me or i dont know how. Must i upload them and can only add a url? How can i post them to appear directly in the post without a url?

Thanks guys!

Vape big.

This stuff seems way too complicated for me. I don't understand how to use this thing and I should never have ordered it. I guess I can sell it on Ebay or something. If not for my other vape falling apart, it probably means I wasn't using it properly. Well, while I wish I could go this way, it is way too confusing for someone like me. Thanks guys for your help.

I bought the VapirNo2 and it was okay. However, it has been falling apart. The battery inexplicably died. I say inexplicably because I didn't use it that much. So, I bought a new battery for $30. Now, it seems as if the charger doesn't work. I can buy a charger specifically for the battery at the cost of $19.99 or another AC plug for $30. Getting it to work again would certainly be cheaper than buying a whole new vape, but maybe that is what I need to do.
If you are a working attorney , buying parts to fix your NO2 should be like buying toothpaste.
I just read the 3 posts you have made since coming to FC.
Go buy the part you need.... that you should have posted in the NO2 thread!!! (I am sending you by email the name of the person at Vapir to speak with)
Now that you are here in this thread... I will comment that you can't go wrong with the SSV (but I also love the NO2)... but vapes "inexplicably dying " can be a habit so take care!
The NO2 is a portable vape, and as such by its description... is not "solid state".
The SSV is solid state.. but you are then limited to home.
Every vape has it's place!

I am not stating that I cannot afford to replace the parts, I am saying that I am disinclined to repeatedly replace parts.

Anyway, I looked at the SSV videos you put up and others on YouTube, and I've come away with the notion that I'm not smart enough to work it properly. I stupidly purchased one, but maybe I can donate it or sell it on Ebay and donate the money. I know you guys are going to flame me as being dumb or idiotic, but this is way too complicated for me. Thank you everyone for your help. I guess it is back to combustion for me. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, no?

What is it that you are finding too complicated about using the ssv?

What heater cover setup are you using?

I doubt anyone's gonna call you dumb or idiotic, we just want to help you learn to love the ssv.

I can't accept that, as1504!
I would like you to respond to my private email I sent.
I am offering to speak on the phone, or to skype with you... and get you to enjoy that SSV.
The only thing that has to happen here is you need to make that changeover.... that one moment where you learn to love vaping.
If you are frustrated... and feel like you are not "getting the point".... give me a chance....
email me back, and lets do a skype vape talk/session.
I want to help you with this.

As1504 - have you even got your vape yet? You have to give it a chance. Im fairly new too and all the lingo here can be a bit much at first when you dont know nothing. But forget all that and just use your ssv for a while. You will be glad you did and never want to go back. I loved it so much i went a got me another vape just weeks after the ssv. Take up Vitolo on that offer to skype and find out all you need. Dont give up.

Check out my two new friends :D

i cranked my ssv all the way up to warm it up and i noticed a burning plastic smell. is this normal/safe?

Are you sure it's not just the smell of the heated ceramic element? Is the element clean? Try a little bit of iso on it an then crank it to burn off any excess and see if you still have a funky smell.

Is this a new unit?

No!! as, please, give it a chance! I'm sure you're smart enough to figure this out, it isn't that complicated, just takes some getting used to. But it doesn't mean you should give up!

Please, all sorts of people own vaporizers, it's definitely something you can do, what exactly is confusing you? We're all here to help.

Well, bought the Saturn lol. Was a wee bit upset with 7th floor becuz I made the purchase last Friday and paid $30 for 2 day becuz I'm kinda OCD lol. Anyways, they were out of green, so the guy calls me Monday late to say that they screwed up, so can't ship til Tuesday and said they won't upgrade shipping so I can have it Wed like I paid for.

Then the dude calls me Wed to say they screwed up further and now I wouldn't get until today. Which I did. They did include a free jar which is nice, so I figured it's here, no harm no foul.

The Saturn is awesome. That is all. Lol :D

In the future where my evil is law!
Hello all, I always have trouble making it back here lol, I also want to give this a little bump and say that the SSV is still beyond awesome. Had it a few months now and honestly I haven't looked back. Between that and MFLB I am free from smoking lol.

I also have the Saturn VT and I absolutely love it. Honestly I can see how it's not for everyone and the price point is a little high but you should give it a shot if you're curious.

The only regret I have is that I wish I would've ordered two so I'll always have one in the fridge.

So...my question is what's up with the ceramic flavor discs that are now being offered on the website. Does anyone have any idea as to how these are or what they do?

Also one final note, maybe an anti-question. Especially for some the SSV vets in this thread.

Of course there are other options, no doubt about it. What do you think you would be using if you had never picked up an SSV?

More than likely I'd be getting by with my MFLB and casual glass smoking but I don't think I'd be as satisfied as I am with the SSV.

Edit: I'm scanning back through the thread to look for info about the ceramic flavor discs. This really has me curious, I wonder how they work? Also I've never even heard of flavored glycerin oils, is this something new by the company or offered everywhere. Forgive my ignorance on the subject. If it works well, tastes good and can work with my current setup plus VT I'm all in!

I just had the same issue. My heat on my ssv seems to suddenly not be as hot at the same level it was before, so i had it a bit higher and my friend combusted the bowl good and im afraid its gonna taste like burnt now. Can i clean the wand? Really have to replace the whip? My friend combusted and i broke my downstem in the same session :| bad vaping day for me.

rinse that want in iso or ethanol, and save the alcohol. do this a few times and you will have a solution to evaporate (filter it first with unbleached coffee filter works great) evaporate this and you will have an awesome oil! enjoy!

or just scrape it the best you can and use this hash. but i recommend the oil method.

Thanks for the advice. A clean wand and a new hose later, the combustion taste is gone. Is this common with the ssv? It seems vapor noobs dont think they are getting some and hit it harder and then, poof, combustion! Maybe i should try a lower temp with im vaping with company? Cant be getting a new hose everytime i vape with people.

As a new ssv user, i must say, pull the trigger! Its the most amazing expierence ever to own one and vape from it daily. when a friend brings one over and have a few sessions, you get baked yes, but you dont feel the benefits of the vape until you use one daily. You can feel the ligtness in your lungs with every hit.

As for how many hits, its all a matter of personal preference on taste, technique and the equipment used... I usually get about 3-4 with the best flavor, then maybe 3-4 more popcorny hits using the mouthpiece. And with my vapebong usually 2-3 with best flavor and about 2-3 after.

And more herb doesnt seem to equal more hits in my opinion. It may increase the best tasting hits after the first stir, but seems to be toast about the same time. Try taking your normal bowl amount for combusting, and cutting it in half or thirds to find the best amount for you.

You are considering the best vape out there. Go thru the forum, it is what made me decide.

I found that when a noob combusts once.... he will usually do it again, next visit.
They are looking at the wand... fixated,, inhaling slowly, trying to "create vapor".....
it is a psychological block... when I can not hear the audible "woosh" of the SSV wand... I now will poke my visitor lightly on the knee and I say "speed up your draw" They comply.. or poof!
then.. I make them follow me into the kitchen as I do this: SSV wand/whip cleanup

@norcal- When I moved to my present location, I used my portable also as my only vape for a while, but I got the SSV, and have been delighted. What you have planned is great.. a portable for the road, and an SSV for home.. what a great combo!
