Sapphire and Ruby inserts for bangers

I was thinking of getting a AH or Galaxy 35mm banger and coil to try and put my 30mm sapphire insert in there for a all glass airway instead of having to use the Liger Air. Anyone try this or know if this would work?

I did and think shooby aswell, problem is the galaxy banger has a pretty uneven bottom so the insert doesn't rly lay flat
and can get stuck while qtipping so not rly recommended...never tried again after sticking once :p

I haven't tried dunking it in ISO immediately afterward, but I've done a few sessions of droptech with no problems.

How are you feeling the droptech with the SiC vs a static or down temp ruby dab?

Fadespace are on a warpath against 710Gems now on IG wow! Looks like 710gems wants $400 a pop for their faceted rubies!

And Fadespace says their new super ceramic material insert will cost about 40% more than their SiC! They're auctioning a couple off this week I think.

Dear @biohacker my friend, I just saw on 710gems’ site, their 19mm faceted ruby or sapphire inserts for $300 on sale. I’m still not active in this arena yet but perhaps another member will profit from the savings.

Crazy prices, specially after he admited his ruby comes from china and we can already see them coming for cheap from there...

Personally I'm pretty happy with both my ruby´s from Greek Glass (amazing customer service by the way, had a problem with a banger froom him, send him a couple of photos and he send me a new one, no questions asked) and my SiC from Fadespace.

Atm I'm using torch and banger setup with both of them, but I got a 710coil axial and will be getting an RDK-300A soon.

I think that in general I like the SiC a bit better but for the last couple days I've been rocking the ruby insert with 2 ruby terp balls and been able to lower the temp at what I take dabs while keeping the vapor thick. The ruby insert is already amazing but the extra surface area of the terp balls makes an even bigger deifference, so far I think it's my favorite setup

Holy crap, I don't think FadeSpace could look any worse or more immature if they tried! Their whole marketing strategy of bashing competing businesses and flashing thermal conductivity diagrams on IG is rather pathetic. I know the owner of 710gems and FadeSpace went on their page an started outright attacking them. LOL 710gems even left all of the comments up so you can see how hateful and embarrassing the FadeSpace team really is. I could NEVER support them after that. Everything @muunch has said about FadeSpace totally makes sense now. FUCK FADESPACE

Yep, I feel ya. I regretted my purchase through him almost immediately after seeing a bunch of his hateful bashing. The product should be able to speak for itself and survive on its own merits if it's really that good.

@biohacker droptech is nice to switch things up every so often, but I generally prefer just a static dab with ruby.

Fadespace "Super Ceramic" is supposed to be 40% more thermally conductive than their SiC inserts, and coincidentally 40% more expensive. Of course, they haven't really done any real world testing yet!

Their "SiC is superior to Ruby/Sapphire" is getting a bit tiring... especially since SiC has been around for so long, and they're acting like they just invented it!

EDIT: Not sure if any of you saw the Fadespace BS we exchanged this morning, but he's now ACCUSING me of being 710Gems, and blocked me as a hater. Probably all deleted, but if it's still up, please have a read and take a look at how FUCKED UP this dude is! :mental:

EDIT 2:

@JCat:

My GG ruby insert has stayed spotless with 1.5-2 dry q-tips after each use, and frequent ISO q-tipping when cool before use.

Maybe I just can’t see it, but to me it looks as clean as the day I got it.

I’m running @ 500F dropping PID to 485F at start of dab.

This is it! Those are basically my temps as well (on the floor) but your tech for keeping the ruby clean works just as perfectly for the white sapphire. But instead of an iso qtip i'm using those iso wipes/towelettes from the drug store when cool, and I think torching these gemstone inserts may now be a thing of the past! Absolutely no need for simple green or dark crystal whatsoever. Thanks dude! This is the best maintenance possible for gemstones IMO!

Lmao dude seems extremely paranoid, If his product was half as good as his comparison charts make it out to be, I don't think he would be compelled to act so desperate.

Thank God his new inserts will have even more conductivity, should be perfect for even more superfluous comparison charts

He honestly thinks he's smarter than everybody he talks to, it's really obvious, and eye-rollingly off putting. His ego is bigger than his insert

@invertedisdead you put that together perfectly, very well said and I completely agree. He seemed so defensive, and started to make ridiculous assumptions and accusations. Almost delusional! He tries to sound all smart but in the end all he has is his pathetic claims and slamming/trolling others. Shame, because I did have sincere interest in his product, and even communicated that, but I think he was too scared of an honest unbiased real world comparison review. He also has an account here.:disgust:

Bro you KNOW they (almost al these manufacturers in general) are WAY too scared to solicit any real review from a truly experienced user. They pray on people's unfamiliarity with this industry. We all know better, that's why these brands avoid this forum.

Based on his social media actions I'm not confident that he could even string together a reply in this thread without shitting on the wall and just getting banned.

Hey guys, I still think the negative comments about titanium air pathways, lack a scientific basis, and contradict my personal experience.

I think I discovered what was really going on, if you over tighten the coil on the liger air then it screws up the performance. Shooby was very vocal about how you need to modify and get that CCA coil on there as tight as possible. I tried the same thing on mine and I started getting performance issues. I loosened it up and everything works fine. I'm guessing the pressure screws with the temperature readings and that caused the performance issues that shooby described. It had nothing to do with the titanium air pathways. I've been gone from the forms for a few months but from what I can tell, shooby blew up Josh business with his allegations of poor performance. I know there were some issues with delays in product delivery but I'm guessing it is intertwined with the people who were talking about canceling their orders after reading shoobys post.

Your 30% is my 100%, although I haven't tried soaking for more than a day. It seems to always have those black circles on there for good, until I take the torch over 1000f to it.

It's nice to have you back in any capacity, as your expertise is definitely missed. My burning question, as these SiC inserts from Fadespace have become quite hyped, as much so as to actually have claims of being "better" than ruby/sapphire, even from a taste standpoint. Of course, this is all from Fadespace...

Should I even bother picking one up? I remember you stating you didn't like the taste of SiC, but i'm unsure if that's with Ti in its path or not?
Thanks!
My only experience using the a SiC insert in a banger is using both CCA SiC 20mm inside a smaller 24mm banger and a 30mm SiC inside my custom Halen banger that holds the Liger 30mm inserts. After using them, it has a sharper note to the vape that you dont get from the same CCA 20mm and 30mm sapphire. I also had a buddy test and said it was a bit sharper on the throat. Taste-wise, i dont think it was bad at all but i didnt like the sharpness to the vape. But SiC does create more vapor than the sapphires if i remember correctly at the same temps. Maybe i will pull out one of those SiCs and play with it again and report back. Its always nice to try something that i havent used in a long time.

The D cup  That's the greatest vape name ever!
Nice to see new gear from NewVape! Although I can't see the appeal of dabbing off sapphire with a metal vapor path. If that clean pure flavor of sapphire is genuinely of interest, the quartz vapor path hasn't been surpassed.
@Shooby Nice to see you around boss!
What's your go-to daily driver setup these days?

Ive been only using the Odyssey from Sonnumberfour rig wise. As for bangers, basically using Toro and Pukinbeagles with adapt tech inserts. But also been doing a lot of dabs without inserts as well when i am dabbing live rosin.

Enail wise, I just have a coil stand holding my coil in place and i put my banger inside it to keep it warm and i remove it to take a dab and put it back to keep warm. Its my wireless way of dabbing with an enail and avoids using a torch at home. Best part about it, is that it hits like a torch dab but using a coil to warm it.

As far as caps go, ive gone back to using the old school gordo bubble cap and one ruby sphere. The gordo bubble just pairs with the Odyssey so dam good i just cant put it down.

as for enails, i use the Augusthaus classic or my 710Coil special! Thank you Shane!

The Odyssey just functions so well that everything else just feels like a mess.

I notice the sapphire insert I have for the Halo has sort of a "frosted" feel to it, whereas the ruby feels super smooth ... maybe that makes a difference in how clean it stays? Do the sapphire inserts have a frosted feel or are they smooth like the ruby? @biohacker ? (or like you said, maybe it's illusion ...)

The main difference when buying sapphire inserts is the finish of it. It comes in either semi-polished/frosted or polished. Polished being the ultimate goal but also increases cost some as it requires more machining.

Semi-polished are the white looking frosted type of sapphire inserts and polished would be the clear, glass finish. Polish does clean off much easier than semi polished as well.

I believe all Ruby inserts are polished and sapphires will be in both finishes.

Just IMO, but I could care less about "scientific basis"... it's ALL about personal experience. And much of our own personal experience contradicts one another, so it is what it is. I don't like titanium, but that's just me. And many here have switched to an all glass path and would never look back.

As for CCA, I wouldn't support them the same as Fadespace based on their history of fuckery.

Mind blown. I just might have to rig something up like that, @Shooby!

Likewise! Talk about engineering @Shooby ! Way to think!

@invertedisdead With all of our discussions about the torch vs e-nail, and we never once thought of this?:brow:

There is even a thread on how to heat a banger without a torch, and this never came up! I mentioned a "heat gun"

Wish I still had my NV Kickstand! Already got a coffee cup doing fill in as an impromptu stand, trying to find the right temp, seems like it needs a decent bit of heat to dial it in, but I'm still using this obsolete barrel coil!

@Shooby where are you at on your PID for #Shoobytek ?

Been doing this for a few months now and have no issues with this at all. Once i figured out a way to get the coil to sit on a stand without falling or tipping, i never looked back. I just wanted to remove the coil aspect of my dabbing but not use a torch. Any only use what i had in hand without buying shit and this is what i came up with.

A few things about this set up. First, the only down side is that if i want to take a back to back rip, i have to either put it back real quick to reheat before i qtip the insert and get another dab ready. Or i use a torch for 10 secs to just bump up the temp again. I tend to just take a big ass rip at a slightly higher temp.

You will also have to stretch out your coils so it can easily fit the banger to be placed in and out. Once you do this, it may not be that great for regular use as it may be too loose. I added about 2mm of wiggle room. I also never let it cool inside in the coil. Well let me rephrase that, i try to never let it cool inside the coil. Just for a piece of mind. Trying not to break anymore $200 bangers.

To find what temp i want, i use a IR gun to find the insert temp. I put the red dot on top of the side walls to get the best accurate temp. And also go by the highest temp i get as the correct temp reading. I have my insert temp at 575F when i take if off the coil. Hope that helps ya!

I missed @Shooby. Thanks for coming back. I'm gonna have to try this. I think you started something. Thanks for sharing.

Was there any special technique to keeping it on the stand? I would think the axial coils would make this an easy way to attempt something similar, no?

my Kubeone classic is set to 590F and i get a insert temp of 575F. On the 710coil enail, its was set much higher at like 650F to get to 575F. I thought first i had to, too. but i really didnt. The banger and insert is fairly hot.
