Your 30% is my 100%, although I haven't tried soaking for more than a day. It seems to always have those black circles on there for good, until I take the torch over 1000f to it.
It's nice to have you back in any capacity, as your expertise is definitely missed. My burning question, as these SiC inserts from Fadespace have become quite hyped, as much so as to actually have claims of being "better" than ruby/sapphire, even from a taste standpoint. Of course, this is all from Fadespace...
Should I even bother picking one up? I remember you stating you didn't like the taste of SiC, but i'm unsure if that's with Ti in its path or not?
Thanks!
My only experience using the a SiC insert in a banger is using both CCA SiC 20mm inside a smaller 24mm banger and a 30mm SiC inside my custom Halen banger that holds the Liger 30mm inserts. After using them, it has a sharper note to the vape that you dont get from the same CCA 20mm and 30mm sapphire. I also had a buddy test and said it was a bit sharper on the throat. Taste-wise, i dont think it was bad at all but i didnt like the sharpness to the vape. But SiC does create more vapor than the sapphires if i remember correctly at the same temps. Maybe i will pull out one of those SiCs and play with it again and report back. Its always nice to try something that i havent used in a long time.
The D cup
That's the greatest vape name ever!
Nice to see new gear from NewVape! Although I can't see the appeal of dabbing off sapphire with a metal vapor path. If that clean pure flavor of sapphire is genuinely of interest, the quartz vapor path hasn't been surpassed.
@Shooby Nice to see you around boss!
What's your go-to daily driver setup these days?
Ive been only using the Odyssey from Sonnumberfour rig wise. As for bangers, basically using Toro and Pukinbeagles with adapt tech inserts. But also been doing a lot of dabs without inserts as well when i am dabbing live rosin.
Enail wise, I just have a coil stand holding my coil in place and i put my banger inside it to keep it warm and i remove it to take a dab and put it back to keep warm. Its my wireless way of dabbing with an enail and avoids using a torch at home. Best part about it, is that it hits like a torch dab but using a coil to warm it.
As far as caps go, ive gone back to using the old school gordo bubble cap and one ruby sphere. The gordo bubble just pairs with the Odyssey so dam good i just cant put it down.
as for enails, i use the Augusthaus classic or my 710Coil special! Thank you Shane!
The Odyssey just functions so well that everything else just feels like a mess.
I notice the sapphire insert I have for the Halo has sort of a "frosted" feel to it, whereas the ruby feels super smooth ... maybe that makes a difference in how clean it stays? Do the sapphire inserts have a frosted feel or are they smooth like the ruby?
@biohacker ? (or like you said, maybe it's illusion ...)
The main difference when buying sapphire inserts is the finish of it. It comes in either semi-polished/frosted or polished. Polished being the ultimate goal but also increases cost some as it requires more machining.
Semi-polished are the white looking frosted type of sapphire inserts and polished would be the clear, glass finish. Polish does clean off much easier than semi polished as well.
I believe all Ruby inserts are polished and sapphires will be in both finishes.
