Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

^^ On a side note, your avy reminded me of one of my favorite albums, "Crown of Creation" by the Airplane.

I didn't notice any increase in particulate matter but I'll keep an eye out on it. I've been drawing natively on the clipless stem, but maybe going back to vapor-bonging it may be a good idea.

OK, so how do you get this clip out?
Tom, is this OK to do?

I'm always looking for new experiences with my vapes, hehe.

Wow, man. That's a lot for medicine.

Considering how much I go through in a month, it's really not. Works out to about 45 cents a day.

Now that price is for their very best.

Check out post #232, this thread >> http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=2982&p=10

Those 36 to 45 dollar an eighth prices are for EXCELLENT quality bud and would not be considered mids by any stretch of the imagination.

Considering that they run all their bud through analysis for THC/CBD/CBN content as well as testing for pesticides, chemicals and microscopic mold along with their excellent customer service, I don't think it's expensive at all.

Guess it's all relative depending if one values these things.

That was a fun one to do a little surgery on. You are welcome. Looks just like my shop unit, nicely figured wood.

Side note: I always liked Black Walnut. Used to sit under a big Black Walnut at Grandpa's. We harvested loads of walnuts every year. If you've never husked walnuts, well, it's a mess, and shelling is a barrel of laughs too. But the rewards were great. And the wood from the crotch of that tree made some nice gunstocks after it was hit by lightning. Nearby was a Tulip Poplar I planted from 1st Grade Arbor Day, it's huge now. I like woods ! Started young...

Back to the thread: I think it was a bad solder joint (from back in the blind days) ... but getting a unit apart is usually destructive to the electronics and I tore these up, so we will never know for sure. Failed resistors are very rare, under normal use, so I think it was just a missed or bad solder joint that finally carbon-ed up.

I think (IMO) a sock or can-coozie is the best temperature bump device known. Been doing it since 2003. A little extra insulation may be just what is needed for some folks, or in cooler conditions, like winter. :)
I had a dental floss bush at my grandpas in Montana

A small amount of essential oil just dripped into the top of my PD! Now it won't stop smoking and stinking, Any suggestions?

This has been covered a few times but always pays to go over again. Do not fill your aroma cup while it is on the PD. You (all) are not that steady... Fill the aroma cup over your sink or somewhere else, not on the PD ! Enough said.

Now on to what has been suggested before, when this has happened (don't feel like the Lone Ranger ;) ) :

Unless you spilled a lot into the unit, just let it run and don't use it for a while. Aroma dissipates with time...

Further you could stick an unplugged unit in a shoebox with an odor absorber such as activated carbon or baking soda for a week.

Again the best remedy will be heat and time. Hope it wasn't some funky scent. Pimp Daddy Musk?

Thanks Tom, I was trying to lift off the almost empty cup with a kleenex to refill it on the desk when I got burned a little and it tipped over. Luckly it was quite thick at the bottom so only a drop or two spilled. It was bannana nut. Thanks again.

PD Surgery

Last weekend was a road trip. First time to use the PD with the car kit. Worked GREAT! Seemed hotter than when using the AC adaptor. Anyway, after a day and 1/2 on the road, no workie. Blowing fuses. Sh?t!!:uhoh:

Last night i used a band say to cut a 1/4 inch of bottom off and disassembled. Seems that a flake of soldier shorted it out close to the resistor. No biggie. Reassembled. Glued the bottom back on and fired it back up.
Hurray!! It works again. Now my PD has a nice black line around the bottom. It be styling for sure.

Anyway, I thought i'd share the experience. I don't have a backup and couldn't see being without for more than a day or two.

Count me as a confimed PD fan!!:brow:

Sounds good but what did you use for glue? Has to survive some high temps. Hopefully that part is fairly cool and the glue is well isolated from the hot air path.

Just dropping by to thank Tom and Pammy for putting out such a great product. Their customer service is top notch and the PD's craftsmanship is amazing. I really appreciate the time and effort Tom put into making my PD.

A couple buddies and I hangout and use my PD on the weekends; One of them was so impressed, he placed an order last week. So you should be shipping another one out to Elyria real soon!

:peace:

Received my Myrtle wood PD in the wilds of British Columbia today and thank you to Tom and Pammy for such a beautiful piece of craftmanship. Will be my second vaping experience as have been using a MFLB for a couple of weeks and am looking forward to trying out the PD.

EDIT: 1 hour later and after having practiced the techniques on the MFLB, I found the PD easy to utilize and produce great results for me (AKA I am high). Thanks to all the tips and suggestions in this thread as it made the experience easier (although lengthy to wade through).

FINAL EDIT FOR WOOD PORN:

I used normal wood glue to reattach the bottom. The same glue recommended to use when you build your own PD. The cut made with the band saw was just below the plug. Luckily I missed the plug wiring! There is a wooden divider between the top part ( where all of the heat is ) and the bottom section where the plug is.

The table is Ikea so I am not sure what look they are going for... the two look very similar though.

Thats what I was thinking, they go very well together...Almost, too well....
My myrtle wood unit looks a lot darker, yours probably does in real life as well.

Yes, it does... that is one of the beauties of wood is its uniqueness. I love many things in plastic and metals, but wood has such an innate quality and Tom's work really highlights that. It demonstrates that something utilitarian can have significant beauty as well.
