DD - I have had a chance to taste two strains, same genetics, one grown hydro with synthetics, and the other organic hydro. I can taste the difference and it even looks different after you vape it. You can see the difference even more when you actually burn it. The chemical hydro product looks more white and ashy, and burns less evenly. Organic herb isn't as beautiful or as easy to find, but I prefer organic any day of the week. Organic fruit tastes that much better, same thing for herbs!

Makes sense man...when I start a grow again I'll give it a shot. It makes sense to grow organic, but I just did it the once with a freinds crop. It worked great, and it did taste lovely. I just figured it was because the strain was from BC (Canada). They have the best bud for the sensations I look for...IMO. Thanks for the healthy update. Guess the PD will only help accentuate the pure flavors you speak of in organic MJ. I'll have to give it a shot...do you think the local Whole Foods has any on hand... (trying to stay on topic.)

BTW SM...You've sold me on that VRIP wand man. Looks sweet. Too bad I gave all my glass water pipes away as Karma gifts :/

DD, the good karma will come back to you for sure! The VRIP and PD are my dynamic duo right now, I set up a vapor bar just like Marcuss at my house, and those two are the stars right now

im planning on doing a video review of the pd as well, once i get the hang of it and have stuff to say about it :brow:
itll be with a 6 year old webcam though

im thinking of just buying guano and molasses, but i havent really priced the premade organics

tom sent me the pics and i chose the body i wanted, its rather cool, it was one of the prototype bodys and it has kind of a taper at the top that i like better than the straight "soda can" style
a unique unit for a unique person :D

Yeah, I've been putting off my video-review of the PD and VG (with tips) I promised everyone... been so busy/lazy on free-time. Maybe this weekend.

Question for you SA, since you own the Genie and the PD. You know I have the VG and the E and I am getting a PD next. I've noticed that I get a little bit of a sore throat the next day from using the VG a lot, but I don't from the E. I think it is because the VG has a short vapor path and is getting really hot...maybe too hot as I like to take it to the edge. So...do you get a sore throat sometimes from either of these models? The PD is similar to the VG in it's short path, but I'll bet it doesn't get as hot as I get my VG. I just want to be as sure as possible that I won't be getting a sore throat from the PD as well.

Any thoughts?

To be honest, my VG has been kinda collecting dust for the past week or so. I rarely vaporize on the go, and because it's been an ice-box out, I just don't go out into nature like in the spring/summer. That is the main reason I bought it.

That said, no, I haven't experienced any kinda of throat irritation with the Purple-Days. The thing that I love about it the most is how it truly is designed in the 'perfect spot'.

I do know what you mean about the irritation from the VG, and although it's been a bit since I've put it to good use, I remember the drawing techniques being very different. It took me sometime to get use to the PD because it's so much slower. At first it was uncomfortable, taking such a long slow draw, but then I got it down. With the VG it's a similiar technique, but your def. inhaling faster, I think that might have to do with it, as their is more 'hot air' than their is vapor at times, especially when starting a bowl in the VG.

I don't get any kinda of irritation from my VaporWarez. It has a good 2 feet of tubing, and a lot of times I use the 'mouth bong' technique with whatever I happen to be sipping on. :p I still sneeze time to time, but that's usually when I am holding in my hits for a long time.

Just my :2c:. Feel free to ask more. Hope it helps.

Stickstones, for me, the shorter vapor path did make my throat dry, which is why i just stuck some silicone tubing at the tip of it to lengthen the distance of the vapor path. A lot of people say it doesn?t bother them, so this is just my exp. What I do like about the tubing is that it allows me to do the straw technique with my medicine bottle much easier. Without the tubing, I would have to dump the medicine out on the a table and use the straw method. With the tubing, I just snake it down to the bottom of the bottle, take an inhale, and then use a toothpick to push in the medicine and then I?m ready to go.

Right on, guys. Thanks for the input. I kinda figured the PD would be cool enough to not irritate me. I really just put 2 and 2 together this afternoon with the whole sore throat thing. It only happens when I use the VG for a whole night, which has been happening a lot lately, for efficiencies sake.

Exactly. Hot/warm air can irritate your respiratory system--Vaporizers are hot air inhalation devices. The PD doesn't bother me, it does have a shorter air path but also delivers a high vapor to air ratio when hit optimally so you aren't inhaling as much hot air as with the VG.

Just picked up a bag of purple kush for my PD. :luv:;pd;

 to all the new or soon to be PD family.

i really dont think its the temperature of the air that causes irritation, its the dryness, i could breathe hot humid air with minimal irritation, but hot dry air makes my asthma act up and my throat sore

I like this vaporizer more and more every day. Lately I've been putting a little plug of ground up herb at the bottom of the vapor tube, then a big chunk of soft melty bubble hash on top. I can get like 5-6 big delicious hash hits this way, stirring after a couple hits with a toothpick. Mmmmm.

Yea, I've been using toothpicks as a stir tool....

Actually, one of my screens just came out! Earlier this week I was using my pearl tool too stir a bowl, well, remove it -- and one of the little metal 'o-rings' came out with it... I figured it would be OK, I'd just have to be careful, but when I tapped the bowl out a minute ago, the screen fell out!

Any tips on securing it back in place Tom? I now see their are 2 o-rings, it looks like one goes on top, and the other on the bottom. Do I just kinda squeeze them in their, and then bend it out to wedge the screen in between the two metal rings?

//edit, I used some little scissors to bend it and get it back in place. It looks like it's fairly secure. I'd assume their is some specific tool for these little o-rings?

I really need to clean all my tubes, but I haven't picked up any ISO and probably wont be able to until later this week.... While this screen was out actually I held it up with some tweezers and just burnt off the plant material. Clean as new. :D

I guess I'm gonna have to be super careful with the screens, or maybe this was just a fluke one. But still, tips on reassembling them would be cool. Also, does the metal part, come out? I was stoned and looking at the tubes, it looks like the metal is jammed in their? Just curious, it might be kinda a cool add-on having an extra long tube..... 6 inches or so *shrug*

Anyways yeah, I'm loving this thing... I actually made some room on my desk so it can now sit here a lot of the time. After getting my PD, using my VW seems so wasteful -- huge hits, and great high, but sooo much weed.

You have it right, the screens are sandwiched between two clips. The clips are spring steel.

If you snag one by poking, which isn't the recommended cleaning method, but what the hay, it happens... you can squeeze the clip and seat it back in the tube opening. A 1/4" dowel or bit can be used as a ram to settle the clip in place on top of the screen.

The clips are available at an auto parts store, (not where I get them now). But way back when I first learned to re-build an A-zap tube I located them there. These are around .28" and squeeze tightly into a 1/4" tube.

The screen is a pretty standard mesh stainless steel screen and you can cut replacements from any head-shop type stainless screens.

The Vapor Tube is a 9/32" OD and it goes into a 8/32" hole in the plastic. To make the fit permanent, the rear diameter is deformed and the friction fit is very tight, not removable. No glue or other adhesives, just friction.

Longer tube lengths are a possibility, but all our rod stock is cut to length at this time.

You don't have to 'vaporize' the moisture out of it. It goes straight to the goodness.... with the PD it must be really, really dry I've noticed. I usually let my buds sit out overnight for the next day... they become nice and brittle and vaporizer wonderfully in the PD.

Thanks for the tips Tom. It seems to be seated pretty well. :) I really need to get some iso to clean them all though....

if all goes well, ill be placing my order tonight :D (assuming the visa gift card works, henessey had trouble with amex but visa gift cards are supposed to be accepted anywhere regular visa are)
and ill be inaugurating it with a friend of my girl's, and picking up a quarter from him, hes a big smoker and i dont know if he's vaped before, so who knows, it might turn in to an "evangelical" situation :brow: :ko:

edit: beyond te risk of electrocution, there probably wont be any risk to the actual unit, did you see that stress test where tom shook it around completely submerged, and then tossed it in the freezer? the only thing that gave out was the led

Hennessy1414 says, "is a PD at risk in my humid shower? "

Here is the quote from the bottom of the durability page: "Never use an electrical device near water , or plug in a damp appliance."

Seriously... :2c:
