The upcoming ZX Plug & Play bundles come with the new 3 shelf bowl which will allow ~0.25g+ loads in the deepest screen position.

If you tend to prefer smaller doses I would definitely suggest the 14MM ZX for your usage style.

The ZX is specifically designed to replicate the quick "one hit snap" from combustion bong hits, but with a super pure and clean hot air extraction.

You can dial the temperature in so that you never taste an over roasted or burnt hit; it was very important that the ZX be capable of that.
This keeps the flavor punchy and fresh.

The ZX is the 8th/8.5 generation of my original ruby ball vape design, which started right here on this forum and in this same thread over 4 years ago.

One of the things I disliked about convection vaporizers is their reputation for needing a long inhalation to start producing vapor.
The ZX's smaller size bowl and body "concentrates" the heated air to deliver a dense, quick extraction without needing to inhale excessive hot air. This leads to smooth, efficient, tasty, and potent vapor.

Cheers Bill and thanks so much for your appreciate in my work!

From reading back threads it sounds like the goals you sought to achieve with your device are precisely in line with what I would like most from a ball vape. Supporting a pioneer inventor adds to the attraction.

I have a question on the ZX Plug & Play bundle. On your site it doesn't appear from the photos that the bundle includes the new 3 position ZX zirconia ceramic chamber (pictured below). Are the website photos misleading in this regard? Do (just to conform) will the upcoming bundles come with this new head bowl?

3 Position ZX Zirconia Ceramic Chamber [14MM]

Also, are there any titanium parts in the pathway? I ask only because a dear friend (old vaping buddy) has a titanium allergy and I don't want to hospitalize him. LOL

Pre-orders are open on the ZX. I'm not in a rush, as I'm, in the middle of a move, but any general ETA for deliveries for newly ordered kits?

Also, outside the bundle, do you have any "must have" or "must consider" accessories that complement the bundle, or is it all good to go?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my queries.

Bill

Ryan will probably confirm. I'm pretty sure he mentioned the next ZX's will come with the 3 position bowl in the bundle. It's not the head though, it is the bowl that has 3 positions.

No Ti in the pathway. Just Zirconium, Rubies, SS screen in the bowl.

With regards to accessories, there is a coil handle coming very soon. They might be ready in time for the next ZX batch. It is lightweight and plastic.

I personally recomend this scoop https://recommendedvapesupplies.co.uk/products/sqp-mini
A level scoop is exactly half a ZX bowl.

I also recomend a J-hook or small bubbler.

I had a friend over who loves big rips, does the capacity of the ZX allow for that (along with optimizing microdosing) in your estimation?
Yes it can deliver big clouds of vapor. The ZX can really do it all. As others have already mentioned it's' great for a micro dose. But if you load the bowl full and crank the heat up a bit, you can a huge blast vapor to satisfy any of your power bong hitting friends. Now if you were to only be a power hitter per say. Then I would recommend the ZXL or ZXXL for that 18mm airflow.

As someone with a fairly high medical regimen, ZX has no issues keeping up. Can I do bigger rips on some of the bigger heads? Sure, but they require more cooling so typically run through water; and also often need a clean-up hit that is stale. If I need a big dose it might be a couple snappers on ZX, but on the plus side both pulls are pure deliciousness!

There is also aesthetics to consider. Here is how the zx bowl looks on a Tiny bottle bubbler.
you can see how elegant it is. The head is also light, so once it is sealed into the bowl, you can use it hands free.

As an avid micrososer I think these things matter massively. When you use smaller doses you are quite likely going to have more doses. So ritual, aesthetics, and ergonomics matter massively, as any failings in these areas will be exposed constantly. If you have never seen a B0 on a j-hook, let me tell you it ain't pretty.

Totally with you on the importance of ritual and aesthetics as part of the equation. Ryan has done beautiful work with these.

How are you keeping the hot end? Is there a stand with the kit (not seeing one) or are there favorite stand options. I'd prefer not burning down my new place. LOL

The ZX sounds like just the thing for me. The occasional massive rip would be nice, but day-in-day-out I'm more into smaller loads.

I appreciate the recommendations. This will be a significant purchase, so making an informed choice is great.

Seriously bro, the flavor from that combo is just insane. I love ripping bigger bowl one pulls on water pipes, and some of them still manage to deliver great flavor. But going from those to a little snapper from ZX on a nice dry pipe is almost like going from smoking to vaping.

A low temp ZXXL on a dry pipe might just be the ‘cold fusion’ moment, so to speak. :science:

Super powerful testimonial!

Love to hear it, thanks so much for rocking with the Z Tribe my dude!

Although not massive differences every injector style ball vape I've tried has had the edge for flavour over defusion style ones. Although with both the ability to load bigger bowls and blast through them in one go you could be right with that much vapour. Really tempted by both the zx and zxxl. Both look like great vapes.

Most of the diffusers on the market are made of metal which reflects significant infrared radiation, which is surface level heat transfer, like a toaster. Often burning or overcooking the top of the load from being too close to the metallic heat source.

My old titanium Flowerpot used to reflect so much radiant heat it could keep you and the dog toasty on a cold day.

The Z line on the other hand cleverly absorbs and emits all that infrared radiation back into the system to keep the rubies saturated and ready.

The photos on the website are from an earlier version ZX, the website needs to be updated but I'm waiting on more inventory to be able to take new photos.

Yes, current ZX pending preorders will come standard with the new 3 position bowl.

No titanium at all, the screens are medical grade stainless steel.

Parts are in manufacturing and pre-production now, hoping to have everything completed and shipping out around late November, very early December.

Thanks everyone for your patience and cooperation!

I use the bundle exactly as it is, a lot of people like to add a coil handle.
As @RedZep mentioned I have a coil handle of my own design coming, those may end up on the website if the sample show up soon.
I've been waiting a few days to hear back from the manufacturing company on where my new prototypes are.

Thanks for the responses Ryan, everything sounds awesome. Like just what I was hoping for in my mind's eye.

Your projected ETA for shipping units falls just into the window I have for my move.

If I order a bundle now, would it be a problem if we settled on the shipping address once you have the units ready to go?

It is getting exciting on my end. In every dimension the Phase 3 ZX seems like a bespoke device that's been designed for my taste preferences.

Ain't it nice when that happens?

In addition to getting kit that suits my style, it also feels good helping to support an innovator such as yourself.

I'm with you. I'd far prefer to completely consume a hit in one delicious pass rather than taking stale follow up hits.

If it take 2 hits (or more) to get transported to my destination, I'm good with that.

Keywords in your post? "Pure deliciousness."

Thank you kindly for the testimonial.

You just need to input a working address when checking out for the payment details to match and the funds to clear; but there’s no problem at all changing the address before the kits ship out.

Thanks so much and I hope everyone is gearing up for a terpy weekend!

@invertedisdead @all

I saw traditional hash mentioned some pages back, and I will share how my circle often consumed hash (particularly Lebanese, Afghani, and Moroccan varieties), as I think it might be food for thought. Or not. LOL

We would take a straight pin and push it trough a bit of cardboard (that would serve as a base).

A small chunk of hash would be broken off (gently heating brick if necessary). A ball would be placed on the pin, then slightly heated and flattened (a process we called feathering)...hang in there, I'm getting to the point eventually...then the feathered hash would be torched (hopefully till is was just vaporizing, instead of combusting--and art form people too pride in--while on the pin.

When ready a (water) glass that has already been positioned above the hash on the pin is closed over the pin and the vapor builds up is the glass.

Then we'd slightly tip the glass and suck the vapor out of the "crack." Okay, that part was less than elegant, but...

Anyway, what about an uplight "electric pin" that could hold a bit of hash, surrounded by some glass?

Sounds good to me at the moment, I'm impaired in more ways that one. LOL

I don't recommend the stand that comes with the plug n play kit. It is aluminum and lightweight. The stand falls over all the time. There are other stands on Etsy. I use my Cannabis Hardware hangar with the zx.

Oh dear.

Not to derail, but as I was working on my order (and reading though back threads) yesterday, I clumsily knocked my water-pipe off my desk and it did not survive. Oh dear.

I'm wondering if Ryan or others have a stable base that that they think makes for an especially nice (and relatively safe) water-pipe platform to mate with the ZX? I'm thinking a table top set up with a whip hose is likely better than a bong with dedicated (non-convertible) mouthpiece, but one that could be reconfigured for hose or mouthpiece is probably optimal. Am I on the right path with this thinking?

A table top seems like it would minimize "accidents?" It has already been established that I'm clumsy. LOL

I liked that bong. Oh well.

I'd likely use the new water-pipe with Dynavaps as well, but I'm looking for something that would help optimize the Phase 3 experience.

Thoughts?

Since the Plug and Play bundles are imminent, does this also mean that the new tri-level ZX bowls will ship to the pre-orders soon?

Sorry to hear that. Not sure on recommendations. However I will say that the ZX is so light that a dry bottle bong can hold it up hands free, at an angle.
So I guess its easier to make a ZX set up stable.

I appreciate the condolences.

I will be soon be living amidst a bunch of oldsters, so I'd like to find a platform that is super-stable and minimizes any risk of burns and accidents as much as possible, while creating a great "ritual" experience with a base that plays well with the ZX.

Something untippable?

Thanks. At first glance that bong didn't strike me as "untippable," but I was wrong. LOL

I'm still thinking (and perhaps I'm wrong?) that I might do better with a base that allows for using a whip hose (and ideally one that could convert into using a mouthpiece.

I can't believe I broke my bong. First time in 50 years that I've managed to do that. Good thing I'd just cleaned it.

🤣 Sometimes you have to find the humor in a situation or you just might cry. Nice one.

When I joined this forum and started getting interested in glass I came across the saying "Two is one and one is none."

Now I have duplicates of almost every glass piece I care about. Getting high and handling glass just makes an already fragile situation worse. Please excuse the horrible (yet appropriate!) pun. 😋

There's also the hose version of that pipe:

My suggestion would be to use a small dab rig if possible. One very nice small rig perfect for flavor vapes is the Texas Hot Glass Sherlock Shredder. It's an excellent pipe that cools well for a small rig but really lets the flavors through. It's stable and modular, so you can switch to taller mouthpieces or hoses, whatever you need. Can't recommend it enough:

Another option is the TAG Vapor Rig, also excellent but big and more aimed at cooling. Very stable and also modular:

Both are top quality, thick, well made.

That's a very good well made point. I suppose all that radiant heat has to go somewhere . It will be interesting to see if the ZrO2 Zxxl is the ultimate ball vape for both full extraction and flavour as at the moment that title appears to belong to the zx and zxl.
I remember the flowerpot showerhead days cheap heating for a small room in winter lol. I do find obviously with no heat soak there's not much difference between the two but injector edges it for flavour just. I think you're right so I hope more are made as I'm not sure I'll be able to get both this round, as I forgot about the import taxes over a certain amount. Wonder if I could get round it as it's really a medical dosing device lol.

I am so close to having a backup bong, but I missed it by that much:

That is to say, there is a Toker II bong in transit to me as we speak.

I purchased my original Toker II my freshman year in college and I always felt a pride in ownership. Used it forever.

Perfect for combusting microdoses, but perfect for massive rips as well.

And thank god this old school classic has a carburetor. I do not understand how the young'uns have lost hold of the knowledge that to maximize bong hits for both flavor and volume that one needs to be able to artfully feather a carburetor. Something has gone amiss. The elders have failed to adequately pass on the traditions, methinks.

Anyway, someone swiped my Toker II long ago and the company went bust.

But they are back!

toker_product2.png

I ordered one with an optional 14mm adapter, as I ended to use it for vaping.

But now I need a second set of glass--a modern modular kit, one that is tailored to using with a Phase 3 ZX, while adaptable.

I want stability and ability to use a whip hose, and ideally convertible to use with a mouthpiece.

With the ZX I'm thinking it would be better to have the water-pipe remain on a table rather than being handheld. Especially with old folks.

@coolbreeze Thanks for the links. I will check those out. That's the sort of set up I picture getting to pair with the ZX.

Bill

I’m truthfully really excited about that one as it’s a pretty radical idea. It combines nearly everything I’ve learned about vaporization in the last 12 years.

I’m going to try to order some samples next week.

I really wish there was but I don’t really sell enough of them to run any discounts. The ZX is an endangered species 🐼

I definitely appreciate the enthusiasm, I like to think I’ve tried pretty much everything one could do with a ball vape.

No real interest in gem cuts for me personally, to be honest those seem like more of a marketing effort in attempt to differentiate. That all kind of plays off this idea that more is better, which is the exact opposite of the minimalist and ultra compact ZX philosophy.

That said my personal ZX is filled with my ZXR gems which I’ve been testing for at least a year now.

Yep, anytime the airflow suffers the performance in effect suffers. No different to when the bowl screen gets clogged.

Unfortunately the more-is-better philosophy seems to be super effective in the cannabis industry, even if the true result is a net negative. It’s exactly like how most shoppers at dispensaries go straight for the highest THC percentages.
They do seem to work well in the Ball Vape that comes with 700 or more 2.5 mm gem cut rubies. Maybe 2.78mm or 3 mm or larger if already using 3 mm ones would be less restrictive but still allowing more thermal mass.
I was thinking would a solid zirconia enail vape have more thermal mass although the air paths would have to be either machined in which would mean they'd have to be straight so may not have enough time to heat the incoming air enough. If the air paths could be added while it's being cast it should allow them to add twisting or spiral airpaths and create a longer air path for making sure the outlet air is at the needed temperature. It's probably a bad idea but just a weird design idea/thought that's been popping into my head lately. It would either take a bit of RnD to get the air flow just right but some of the prototyping maybe able to be eliminated with some simulations.
