Yea, so I bought the original Pax when it first came out. It had issues (mouthpiece, charger) but was a workhorse for me. It went skiing, to festivals, etc and really never failed me.

When I saw the sale, I couldn't pass up getting the new one. I gotta say I am SO impressed with this thing! I love the size, mouthpiece, cool docking charger, and the app. The Bluetooth connectivity is awesome and works perfectly. I love messing around with the different temps and shit. I also tried the concentrate oven and thought it killed it with my shatter.

Now, my only concern is that I know this glossy beauty is going to get all scratched up. I think that's probably why only the gloss ones are on sale. So, I either try to protect it with a holder or skin, or just accept the fact it's going to look like shit in short order. I see there are skins and smell proof holders on Amazon and Ebay. Can anyone recommend one?

Can't wait to get my 3 today, my bro and I are swapping the ones we bought, he wanted the shiny gold but had already ordered the matte teal on another sale for $200 so we are trading after work!

The end caps from our friend @Ratchett are awesome for controlling Pax smell. Zero odor with these...

Get this silicone sleeve to protect your shiny Pax 3. I’ve got one on mine and it’s kind of like having a wet suit on the Pax. It does cover the shine so you can’t see it...

And, it adds an insulation layer when running at higher temperatures to protect your hand from excess heat...

Also...it’s 420 so sales are on!!!

Hi fellows,

I have a few problems with my PAX 3 and before I send it for service or replacement I would love to know if any of you know a potential fix.

  1. I can not enter temperature setting - when I hold the power button for 2 seconds, it simply turns off.
  2. The PAX 3 switches off when left on table much sooner than the specified 3 minutes.
  3. When I shake the device there is a tiny quiet wiggle heard inside. (I have never dropped it on floor or gave it a trauma.

Thank you for your replies!

I will also mention a suggestion or a engineering issue in case someone from PAX labs reads it. I use PAX for smoking pipe tobacco which usually uses some humectant. Now, what I noticed is that the flat mouthpiece is regularly popping out of PAX 3 because the vapor seems to work as a lubricant. I wish the flat mouthpiece was made with a sturdier brim, sitting in the metal housing as firm as the raised lid that never pops out ...

I am buying this for sure! Anyone have a water pipe adapter? They have glass and silicone ones, I’m wondering which is better?

I have the silicone adapter which uses the raised mouthpiece on the Pax and it works very nicely. I also suffer from a bad case of AGD syndrome (Ataxian Glass Destruction Syndrome) where all I have to do is look at glass and it breaks...So...I haven’t bought the glass adapter simply out of concern for the safety of the glass piece...

You need to be careful your not turning off the device when you hold the button for a temp change. It's pretty sensitive and seems to default towards turning off.

The unit will go into cooldown mode and turn off fairly quickly 30s to 1 minute I believe. You can influence this slightly by changing the mode in the app

The mouthpiece might need to be replaced. After many cleaning/use U find they shrink a little. Grab a 3 pack

I wouldn't worry about anything loose inside. It would be be operational I'd ita was important.

Hope that helps

Im wondering how little i can effectively use in a pax with the half pack lid. I currently only vape .025 to 0.05g and use a vapcap. Id like something a little more discreet that i can use on the go.

IIRC the Pax 3 oven holds around .3g, so you should definitely be able to use the smaller amount with the half pack lid.

I don't think the pax is right for your needs, even with half pack lid. Unlike convection vaporizers, pax needs to be packed in pretty tight and even with half pack lid, still above .1.

However, newvape has a pusher that could further reduce oven size.

Oops, that’s my bad. I misread his post. I read it as .25, not .025, sorry about that.

Some of the vape companies like pax will tell you. a. it's not fiberglass and b. it's fully sealed and not in the air path.

Probably an old tired topic, but since I am vaping tobacco for health reasons over smoking I was worried about the PAX 3 air path too. What I did is just plugged the whole in the oven with some wet paper and tried to draw on the receiving end. I did not draw with full power (but surely harder than I vape) and I could not feel any air coming through. SO maybe the electronic stuff is not fully separated from the mouthpiece, but it certainly is not in the air path either.

Now a PAX 4 with a ceramic path and with the button on side (the button idea on mouthpiece is sexy, but that thrill lasts for 1 day. Then it's just trouble and hand bacteria in mouth) that I would pay double the price for it. Add a ceramic oven lid with metal screen and you got a winner.

You just be using the raised mouth piece (hand bacteria in mouth comment)

The Pax 3 is an isolated air path. The oven is sealed around the sides. Plug the air hole in the oven, and no air can be drawn. The top is also sealed around the sides, and the air path is still separate from the electronics.

Both mouthpieces require touching which is not nice for a vape on the go. We touch all kinds when we are around. I think this idea is flawed for many reasons - the other one is the power button problem which costs the company a lot, due to their awesome and very generous warranty.

A simple button on the body would be cooler. It would also be a sensor like a lip sensor. Maybe does not sound that smart but would serve the cause better. As the used to say in most design schools in the old days - form follows function.

How does the pax 3 compare to the mighty/crafty for those who have tried both?

I currently own a pax3(first vape) but may want to upgrade because im feel like i want to take bigger rips and not deal with as much cleaning as I do with the pax 3

the half pack lids reduces the amount to about 0.15 - 0.20g, you can abuse the concentrate tray for such tiny amounts as 0.05g :)

Microdosing and Pax 3

As a lightweight I'm always looking for devices that support microdosing. On a regular day one or two sessions with 0.05g each usually work perfect for me. Since last week I thought that the Pax and microdosing are two seperate things which just don't work together, even with the half pack lid the chamber was too huge for a single session for me alone. And stretching a half packed oven over three days was possible, but only tasting nice for the first day.

Since thinking about capsules for the Pax I wondered if there is an easy way to change that. And my mind came up with a solution that was maybe kind of too close to see the other days, microdosing is possible with just the stock items the Pax 3 comes with!

All you need is a charged Pax 3 with a screen inserted, a dismounted concentrate tray and the normal lid. Scale out 0.05g and break it loose by hand. fill the tray without stuffing it in. insert tray without the cap in the Pax. Put the lid on, it fits snug. Vape :)

The vape characteristics remain intact, a loaded tray needs about 10-20 draws to finish and the heat settings remain very close to a regular filled oven. Sure, vapor production is not on the same level as with a stuffed oven. Picture shows a tray vaped until third heat setting, so it gets even darker on the fourth.

Even 0.025g work well enough, but vapor gets more whispy and the herb needs to be allocated more precise around the holes in the tray to give an even roast to it.

Maybe nothing overwhelming for the most Pax users, but I love it since it allows me to enjoy the act of vaping a little more without boosting my tolerance more then needed. Very chilled to sip on a microdose for a few minutes without being trashed afterwards.

I own a Crafty and a Pax 3 and for me it was the other way round. I first got my crafty and then purchased the Pax3, and since then the Crafty isn't used much anymore by myself.

Crafty is bulkier to carry, a lot slower heating up and has less battery capacity. big rips are maybe a little easier with the Crafty but the pax gets to higher temps and has a bigger chamber. Cleaning should be also equal efforts, maybe the crafty mouthpiece needs a little less frequent cleaning but it is more effort doing it.

I have a Mighty and two Pax 3s.

I do take the Mighty out on walks with me, but its awkward. Great vapor though.

I prefer to take my Pax 3 places because it's so small. Good vapor.

Both devices can be used super lazily (compared to some of my other vapes). Both have somewhat shitty battery life - its not a knock more an observation. Both have a decent session time and extract well.

I would get the Mighty of I wanted a new vape for the collection, for variety, or for the vapor.

Are you turning the unit on before you check the temperature setting? If you hold the power button down when the unit is off, it will light up, vibrate, and turn back off. You can only check the temp when it's already on.

Has anyone else had experienced heat damage to their half-pack lid? The surface of mine has bubbled up slightly. At first I assumed it was carbon build-up, but it doesn't clean off like the rest of the unit. This isn't a long-term use issue; I just bought the PAX March 1. I do use it heavily, and usually on the high setting. I've contacted PAX, and they gave me a pile of loading advice as well as the assurance that the oven doesn't get hot enough to affect the lid materials. My lid begs to differ.

I never used that lid. I use a folded screen as a spacer until I got the New Vape pusher. Use either with the regular lid. You may want to switch to that method. It solves the problem of your bad half lid.

Yes, thanks, I've got the New Vape Vented Oven Lid and Pusher. That does solve the problem. Still, I'm curious about what happened to my lid.

Hey all. I have had my Pax 3 for about a month now, so I thought I’d shell out my :2c:.

Quick backstory: the Pax OG was one of my first vapes and I HATED it. The flavor, the maintenance, the efficiency and the price all left a bad taste. But I did try the Pax 2 and was impressed with how much better it was than the first and when they had the 4/20 deal, the price made it irresistible (damned VAS, leave me be!)

I have to say... I love this thing!
I have a few Conduction vapes, but none of them have been dd’s for a long time.
I think it was @Mr. Me2 who said everyone should have at least one conduction and one convection vape in their rotation- and I couldn’t agree more!

The vapor is much heavier and concentrated with the Pax. For me, the vape signature really packs a punch!
I’ve always loved the form factor, I don’t think there is another battery vape that is smaller, certainly not one that performs as well.

The maintenance is much, much easier than the OG. It still needs more maintenance than most of my other vapes because the flavor degrades after 3-5 loads, but a little ISO and a pipe cleaner and it is as good as new.

I really like the App. The different profiles are very fun to use. I especially like the Flavor profile and the Efficiency profile. The latter reminds me of the Alfa Gaboof auto puff setting (I can’t remember exact name). The app does have a few quirks/issues but I will save that for a different post.

The battery life is more than sufficient for my needs. It lasts longer than my Crafty (which isn’t saying much) and probably similar to Fury 2. I wish it would charge directly to a USB instead of having to use the adapter (one more thing for me to lose) but not a huge deal. At least it’s small, so if I am traveling, it doesn’t add any significant weight.

The only thing I don’t love is how much herb you need to pack in there to have a great session. Even the half pack is more like a 3/4 full oven, which when packed down is a lot of herb. I bought the New Vape pusher, but honestly, even when it is unscrewed as far as possible, it seems to be the same amount as half pack. (I was hoping to be able to pack a 1/4 or 1/8 of oven at a time and that doesn’t work with pusher.)

I need to try out others suggestions of bent screen (any chance you can post a pic of that? I am not understanding exactly how it would work), and using the concentrate lid. Will report back when I get there.

I have zero regrets buying the Pax 3. This has quickly moved into my daily rotation - super happy with its performance.
