I'm interested in adding the smallest hydratube i can find to the pax 2 and i'm surprised ploom hasn't capitalized on the interest and made one that specifically fits the pax without an extra attachment. That being said does anyone do this. If so do you use the stainless steel piece being sold as the pax 2 waterpipe adapter or is there an easier less bulky way. I currently use a piece of the rubber that went around my extreme q tuff bowl to make an airtight seal to my sovereignty.

I love size, design, battery but the draw really anoys me. The day we have something like the pax2 but convection and on demand I will be the happiest man on earth

I find that the best way to use the PAX 2 is to draw with a lot of air "leaking" from the sides of your lips. In other words, don't create a hard seal around the mp, but create an air current around the hole that will suction the vapor through the PAX 2, very much how like a chimney works -- the air blows across the top of the chimney, creating an area of low pressure that draws the gasses from the firebox, out through the chimney.
By the time you have to diminish the amount of extra air you're letting in, your material is pretty much spent. Give it a try, you'll be surprised at how much vapor pipes out of the mp using this technique, and it allows you to control the draw resistance to your liking.

I am looking for a discreet portable. I presently have a Volcano and a Mighty both of which are great for home use, but while the Mighty is an ideal portable for home use it is not stealthy at all. I want something I can fit in my pocket and use outside a cinema or band venue (or even inside if it is not crowded).
These are the three I am considering:
Pax 2
Goboof Alfa
Flowermate Mini
The Pax 2 is very stylish but I am concerned that it might be hard to use, and I am also wondering about the smell that it emits (the Mighty is not smelly at all).
The Alfa sounds quite good, but I assume that there is a reason people choose to pay extra for the Pax 2. Has anyone here tried both?
The Flowermate seems to be great value for money, but what is the trade-off?
Then there is the Crafty, but I think it might not be as discreet as the ones listed above.
Your thoughts appreciated. Cheers.

The pax2 IS discreet, but can smell. If you get the end caps from @Ratchett that problem is solved! I haven't tried the other 2 you list (and not counting the Crafty - best of the 4, but least stealthy).
If you can wait for its release, I think the grasshopper would be best for you based on your described planned use. You may also want to consider the firewood3.

Some help need with the Pax2. Had mine for about a month now, and purchased as a 'take-out' vape as I have a Crafty for home use, and although I have a Grasshopper on order not expecting to see that for a while. Really struggling to enjoy this vape after the Crafty - think it must be due to draw resistance - have tried the vented lid as well. Been using a fine grind with the MFLB finishing grinder.
So any suggestions for use much appreciated?

Make sure the pax2 screen is seated on an angle and not blocking the air path. And don't grind too fine.
It DOES have draw resistance; especially compared to the Crafty. It's really more of a sipper. Or draw on it like pulling on a cigar.
The pax2 will never draw like the Crafty, but shorter pulls like that should help you enjoy this cape.

You may want to look at the grasshopper thread, if you haven't yet. It's suffering a slow rollout, but may be a perfect compliment for you.
Already have one on pre-order - the Pax2 is to fill the gap as i only pre-ordered this year!

We are on the same vape path! Have you looked at the firefly2 thread?
As a 25 year plus stoner, I struggled with nicotine for many years. Stop Start stop start..you get the picture. Finally decided to give up nicotine for good Aug 14, which meant an end to 'skinning up' for me....was lamenting the lack of greenery when a friend suggested I vape....did my research and chose the Crafty.
Love the Crafty to bits but battery life is fairly poor and a bit too big to take out and about, then you need a charger etc etc. Did seriously consider the Firefly at this stage but Crafty got the vote.
Back on track, the Firefly 2 does look interesting and may pre-order as it offers something different to what I have...

I love my Pax 2 because no one never is gonna think that a device like that is something to use "drugs" on it. I have traveled all over Europe in planes and never in any airport they asked me what was that. It looks so cool an nice, you have to love the design. Most of the people thinks the pax is just a cool USB battery lol.
But the love ends there. Hate the draw and got tired of it pretty soon. Tried the pusher, the vented oven, the better draw screen, everything. But in the end I'm thinking about pre-ordering the Grasshoper for my travels (everyone is gonna think it's a pen lmao) and happy to have my VacpCap around everytime I need a couple of hits quickly. Just torch it, draw and you ready to go in a couple minutes.
I just think that Pax 2 wasn't for me and as soon as I go back home from holidays I'm gonna sell it and probably get a FF2 while I wait for my Grasshoper.

Thanks for the advice. After reading some more reviews and taking the price difference into consideration, I think I would probably choose the Alfa over the Pax 2. It sounds like the Alfa might be better for smaller amounts and it also seems that the draw resistance might be a bit lower.
But then is the Grasshopper, which sounds ideal, but instead of putting an order in and waiting until April, I might hold off until it becomes more available and proves itself to be a quality vape.

I thought about the Alfa too, but that center pin seemed like it would be a pain. Plus nobody really raves about taste from the Alfa. Seems like the Summit falls in the same place (stealthy, fairly priced, but still conduction). I haven't tried that one either.
The Crafty isn't as discreet as the pax, but I have to admit I prefer it to the pax (though I use both). And if you don't mind waiting, look at the Haze Square thread...

I ordered a pusher, vented lid, and "3D screen" from New Vape, but I don't know if I'm using them correctly. In order to attach the pusher to the vented lid, I had to remove a little cap from the screw attached to the vented lid. But the pusher still moves around as it hangs there on the screw, and I can hear it rattling around inside the Pax 2 when the vented lid is attached. Is that normal?
I vaped a bowl with that arrangement. At first the airflow was great, but halfway through my session, it went back to very high draw resistance (despite the fact that I cleaned the Pax 2 right before this session). When I emptied the bowl, there was still a lot of draw resistance, so I decided to try cleaning it again. When I removed the flat mouthpiece, there was a clump of plant material blocking the vapor pathway, and little bits of plant all throughout the vape. Did anyone else experience this?

Nothing needs to be taken apart or attached; they can each function independently. Maybe try them one at a time?
The screw on the pusher is so you can adjust according to load size. When in place, the screw's top should be making contact with the oven lid, so it holds a partial load down snug. This in turn is holding the 3d screen (if you're using it) down so stuff won't go under it.
My preference with Pax2 is to use just the pusher, for its adjust-ability, along with standard screen and lid.
Additionally, I think its mass heats up nicely to distribute heat across the top of the load.

Sounds like your replacement screen isn't working right and allowing product to slip through.
The pax2 does have draw resistance; that's just how it's designed. You just need to make sure the pax screen is seated at an angle so to doesn't block the airflow. I only use the pusher with othe stock pax parts and it works fine. Maybe give that a try?

Have you tried the New Vape screen? It's designed to fit "loose" in the oven so it falls right out. However, in doing so it also lets herb slip through, apparently.
What about the vented lid? Can anyone confirm that it rattles inside the oven?
I'll try using the pusher with stock parts and see how that goes.
