I don't get it. Your Pax 1 is faulty and instead of saying sorry, buy a new one they offer you almost as much as you could get by selling it off of a newer unit? How is that not a fantastic offer? Pax isn't giving you $80 for the Pax so that they can sell it on eBay for $100. Their offer seems sincere and frankly above and beyond what I would expect from any other company.
Ok so this is a really cool community so I would rather you find a solution to answer you like, and you continue to stay and contribute. My phone is acting crazy and won't load previous pages, so that makes it difficult for me to read any other posts you have made for refence so sorry.
What is the issue with the mouth piece? Is your unit defective or does it work and you just don't like the design / maintenance heavy aspect of the mouth piece? If the issue is with the unit, have them service it and see if they find a fault. If the issue isn't with the device itself, and is instead lack of maintenance or just a design you dislike a lot, I'm not sure what you want to happen.
Do you want a Pax 1 that works better? Do you want a Pax 2 instead? If you send it in, they can make sure it isn't defective and you would either get a new one or the unit is fine and you just don't like it. In that case, selling the Pax is clearly the way to go. And their offer of $80 would seem reasonable in this situation. If I buy a new car and want to return it later, the dealer isn't going to give me what I paid for it AND a brand new car at sticker price, that isn't a good business model.
Tl;Dr is the problem you are having on your end or is a fault in the device? If it is on your end, consider the $80 an offer to buy the Pax. If you find a better one, take it and upgrade. If the device is broken send it in and they will fix or replace it. The Pax 2 is fantastic, you will love it.
It's basically a flawed design that works and doesn't work. They have serviced the unit multiple times, replaced the unit and have furnished me with an extra mouthpiece that doesn't work any better. The bottom line is the pax2 is precisely what the pax1 isn't. Because of the ongoing problems I've had I don't think it's unreasonable at all for them to simply give me a $80 discount to upgrade to the new pax2. I do think it's wildly unreasonable to ask me to turn in my pax1 IN ORDER to get said discount. If I can sell it for $125 IN ORDER for me to offset the cost of purchasing the new pax2 that's my GD right especially given the ongoing back and forth I've had to go through since the inception of the pax1. How anybody doesn't see this is beyond comprehension to me.
I appreciate your thoughtful response. What was interesting is that the first time they offered me an $80 discount I respectfully declined because I hadn't kept up with the pax2 reviews. I wrote it off because of my experience with the ongoing mouthpiece issues with the pax1. In between emails I took to the pax2 reviews and was pleasantly surprised all the issues they addressed so much so I changed my mind about taking the $80 discount feeling that was a fair exchange given my support, promotion and ongoing issues. Mind you at this point no contingency was given with the $80 discount so when I replied with my excitement it was instantly destroyed when they said I had to turn in my pax1. The situation and terms changed when I expressed interest to move forward. This really pissed me off and I still don't like that the circumstances changed. I'm still in conversation with Ploom.
Got caught Pax'in in at a Pigeons Playing Ping Pong concert in 9:30 Club last night...red handed
Near the end of the show a girl came up beside me and asked what I was smoking while I am hitting it. I exhale a bunch of vapor as I turn towards her to offer a hit and realize she's a security guard for the venue
She grabs it and examines it. Holds it up to smell it.,
Gave it back to me and said gotta take that outside. Forgot it's fuckin legal in DC now. I live in Maryland
I snuck joints into this place for 10 years and I get caught with the most discrete vaporizer in the world. This thing has just made me lazy

To me it sounds like you feel hoodwinked. I can understand that. You were offered a discount then when you decided to take advantage of it, the rules changed. The submission of your Pax 1 should have been included in that first discount offer. Hopefully you will come to an acceptable compromise.
What's this? The voice of reason?I'd like to think it was to prevent this. You would ask $150 (almost full retail these days) for a unit that you are giving up on because it caused you so much trouble. As a company, I would like to keep that unit out of circulation to avoid having another user expressing the same frustration you experienced. I don't believe they have to give you any reason, however. It's the policy they've set and if you don't like it then you don't have to accept the offer.
Brand new Pax 2 user. Picked it up today.
How tight should I pack the bowl? (I bought the pusher as well). I've read some comments that you should pack it to almost brick consistency.
I'd appreciate any suggestions to get the best vapor production out of this baby. (I use an MFLB finishing grinder and keep the material dry.)
@Ratchett Your odor proof caps for the pax2 work flawlessly. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to close the gap on stealthy.
Kudos brother!
I like the caps, but this thing does smell more when in use -- much more than the MFLB. If I'm vaping inside (concert), I'm using the MFLB. Outside, the Pax 2.
Mflb is conduction. On demand heat instant cool down.I think it has to do with conduction (pax) vs convection (mflb)

Thx for the correction. I much prefer the pax2
Both have their own unique flavors. You've got to love the simplicity, size, and functionality of the MFLB not to mention their outstanding customer service. I love the sleekness and modern functionality of the Pax 2. As I said, the Pax 2 does emit a stronger, I'd even say much stronger, smell from itself. Indoors could be an issue more with Pax 2 than the MFLB. I love both.
I am very impressed with the way the vapor feels down my throat with Pax 2. The MFLB is definitely harsher.
The simple science behind the box that produces such efficiency is reason enough for me to have one around. I love the learning curve on the MFLB. Makes for a fun session. I've had a few moments of combustion with mine, but it my all time favorite vaporizer. OK, I'm a groupie. lolI retired my mflb and firefly. I'm just not interested in the learning curve/instrument like playing with my vape. I prefer something that is reliable, elegant, stealth, portable with fantastic flavor and I settled on the pax2 and crafty as those vapes. (I'll probably die before my Grasshopper comes!)
