I had some pretty dry king Kong kush, top shelf. I ground it fine. Loaded p2 full oven, tamped down.
Went up to secret spot at work (inside) and had a pretty good session. Not crazy density but I am ripped. Have stirred it and retamped, there was a lot of greenage still. So I am expecting a few more pulls. Funny note, as soon as I was done a couple guys high up in security were right around my secret spot, asking about some xray machine they are installing. Man I am buzzed ;)

For situations like that don't you prefer that the vapor isn't as dense, as it dissipates faster?

Yes. I didn't know security was coming there right then, they said it reeked up there. Thank god one of them is cool so he said that he didn't smell it, but off camera later we had a talk and he said it fekkin reeked nice.

Yeah my Pax smells more than my solo does, and doing it in a room without ventilation would seem to make it worse.

Vapetrees,
I also once it is turned off cool it down by taking strong inhales to clear the vapor. I find it makes the pax a lot cleaner.

I asked new vape about their new lid which is according to them is to increase airflow I did ask them if that might cause a not desirable cooling which they did not answer. They said they were creating a lid for the original pax.
I realize after re-reading their email that they said it would not cool the oven down if u also used pusher and screen so I guess they did answer the question that it would cool the oven down used on its own. Given the power of the device I an not sure that is a problem. Using the titanium pieces which when reaching good temperature would tend to maintain it might mean the tribo (combo + 1) is quite effective. I so far like the duo.

Same here, the mighty WAS my daily driver in all situations I really dislike things about the crafty even though I'm glad I have it
I didn't think the p2 was even worth a shot, but I'm glad I have it and because I do, I can feel comfortable leaving the mighty at home safe and sound
I suffer from VAS, so I'm sure this isn't my last stop to vapor-ville...but for now the Mighty and P2 are a winning combo
:2c:
I'd love to hear your Mighty v. Crafty comparison, and what you dislike about the Crafty, but I'm not sure this is the right place for this...

IDK... Personally I'd trust the engineers at PAX vs the guys at New Vape. I'm sure the Pax engineers spent an enormous amount of time and testing before deciding on the specs of the oven lid. The stock oven lid works great IMO.Why fix it if it's not broken.. I wouldn't want to use a mod that could potentially affect oven temperatures and the overall functionality of the device. Just something to keep in mind...

True, but did they test a vented oven lid? Don't know

As an engineer and software designer (Database GUI interfaces). I welcome the feedback and suggestions from my users because it helps me build a better product. I try to think of as many possible scenarios for anything I develop, but there's always something you don't think of.

Vented lids could be one of those 'never thought of it!' situations. The engineers may never have built or tested it on prototypes.

On thing I think safe is to presume is that the increased airflow means the oven will need to work harder than designed to operate. This could mean lower performance, or it could mean less battery life.

I noticed the replacement oven is made from PEEK plastic. Is PEEK considered a vapor safe material?? Because with an all metal hot-end, I could 3D print PEEK on my printers......

Right...back to what Pak was saying yesterday...why do people assume "freer air flow" equals better vaping? Vapes are designed to restrict airflow in order to maximize vapor production and ensure that the heater isn't overwhelmed by faster, cooler air.

Seems like some users, especially those newer to vaping, want "pipe-like" airy draws from their vapes. Vaping isn't smoking. It requires a different approach to drawing, and different expectations. The P2 may have some flaws, but I doubt the designers just overlooked the idea of making the draw airier. That's exactly the kind of "improvement" that will ensure lousy vapor production.

Exactly, think about the smell a vented lid will produce. Not exactly something you want to make standard on a "stealth" vape lol

I keep finding my mind wandering back to the new oven temperature regulation in the Pax 2; I don't think I understand it. Does this make sense and is it accurate:

1) Turn the unit on, wait for it to reach temperature - this activates the oven, petals are pink to indicate heating, and it heats up to a certain set level whereupon the petals turn green.

2) Take a pull - Air and vapor pulled through the unit cause a temperature differential and the oven will respond by heating, again to reach the set temperature level. The petals are a greenish hue, I think I see them shimmer a bit to indicate engagement but I could be completely imagining that.

3) Stop pulling, keep pax "awake" (i.e. do not leave it motionless for ~30 seconds) - this is where I'm unsure. The oven will still need to heat to reach the temperature (given the pull), but I read on some sites that the "lip-sensing technology" will then regulate the temperature to prevent overcooking of the herb for up to 20 seconds or so before it goes to sleep. The petals appear to remain green.

4) Stop pulling, leave pax motionless for over 30 seconds - the blue lights come on to indicate this and turn pink (or green if the interval between motion is short) when the pax is moved again and the oven is engaged.

Where does the lip sensing tech come in to play? If you're pulling then the pax is trying to maintain set temp. If you're not, well, shouldn't the device still be heating to some extent to account for heat dissipation/loss? What am I missing?

When it goes into "stand-by" mode, it stops maintaining the set temp, and cools down. (To what temp, I don't know.....lower enough than the set temp because it does cool down and stops cooking the weed, but I'm not sure how low it drops...maybe it was mentioned in an earlier post....)

When you move it again or put it to your mouth, it immediately begins to re-heat to the set temp. When you don't hit it for 30 seconds, it goes back into stand-by, and the temp begins dropping.

Two states...one where it maintains set temp (and yes, it must work harder during hits to do this)...and one where it backs off to a lower stand-by temp. The lip-sensor just allows it to enter stand-by automatically based on usage timing.

(And then I guess "off" would be the third state...;))

I was thinking about doing that, let me know what kind of info would be helpful...i got a weekend and a stash to spare

@adam_baumm how do these clouds compare to your use ?

Hard to tell as video without great lighting is hard to see vapor, he did a nice cough so he got some good vapor though ;) I have had a few sessions that came out similarly. Its just I guess my material was not super dry when I had my mixed results. Next I will use this zues humidor I got and get a nug bone dry, and then grind it fine...I am expecting some good results. Thx for posting the vid

I get better vapor than the guy in the video. Pax2 produces very satisfying vapor. In fact if I keep on pulling on it I tend to get a bit overwhelmed by the copious amount of vapor.
well shit, what are you doing that I'm not? this thing already kicks out decent vapor, but if it's subpar to normal clouds from this...i need to know what to do! Lol

It is possible that new vape has considered these issues. Everyone has ignored that it seems to work best with their screen and pusher. The titanium mass would retain the heat and the pusher perhaps would block the smell. I guess I will need to get one and let u all know

Start with trichome drenched dry flowers (should look like they were dipped in sugar), fine grind but not powder, firm pack but not so tight it makes airflow difficult, slow draws of 5 to 6 seconds, when vapor begins to thin turn the heat up one petal.

Pax2 gives me enough vapor to gag me through a session. Sometimes I feel the need to back off it is so plentiful. How could a vape get anymore simple?.
sugar buds are preferred, but not always avaliable in this backwards ass state, that OG kush I had in the video was pretty good and crystally though, I use the fine powder grind now on everything, it seems to work better for ME, I will however try some grind variations for the pax2
I thought the representation of vapor was realistic, adequate and just watching it got me high. But I am a lightweight.
I'm not a lightweight and that shit got me smashed, the lighting might not have been the BEST for visibility of clouds but the point is you can get fucked up In public on the stealth side (aaside from the immediate smell)

the lighting was really good i thought and have also thought so everytime that i've vaped with pax2 in the vehicle the lighting is good to see those clouds. also for extra stealth i was covering the pax2 entirely so that it was completely engulfed inside of my hand so all the public could see was me holding my clenched fist pressed against my lips for 10+ seconds at a time. however i recently have just switched to holding it just the normal way now in public so the main body of the pax2 can be seen by any bystander as im passing by and both me and my friend agree that this way actually draws less attention then the clenched fist to the face version because everybody just assumes its sometype of electronic cigerette of somesort because it is 2015 after all... but then again im from washington and its legal here so i can imagine that bigger clouds could be an issue for compromising stealth esspecially in an illegal jurisdiction

I just discovered a party mode that every time you touch the top of the mouthpiece the petals go crazy blinking all kinds of colors. This really gives the feel for how sensitive the lip sensing technology is. As soon as you're not touching it the lights stop. Pretty cool! I totally forgot how I got to it but it was 3 turns toward me 3 turns away 3 turns towards me and after that I forgot:razz:

This guy who sold me my p2 has ANOTHER ONE, that he wants to trade $100 worth of flowers for...only One problem...he doesn't have a charger and I haven't seen any on the pax site...is this a good deal? And where can you buy a charger from?

EDIT: Pulled the trigger and got another p2 and a solo for 7g's of flower and $50 cash...VAS still winning! No charger for the p2 or stems for the solo...but all in all...great saturday!
