This too shall PAX...
Damn, this thing is strong when it comes to vapour production. It just keeps going, however after 30 minutes of vaping from the same bowl, I noticed a burnt taste. I opened up the oven lid and what do you know, the bottom half of the bowl turned into ash...

I normally vape until there's no vapour left, however after this experience, I'm going to stop at around the 15-20 minute mark.

How many petals were you on, all 4 or did you ramp up?

Yeah, 30 minutes is a long time..I think too long depending on your draw frequency. I usually pack about .15 to .2g in the oven. My session typical lasts about 10 minutes( maybe 10 to 12 draws). Level 3 for the first half then level 4 to get maximum extraction. My AVB is always dark brown with some medium brown specs... And that's witout stirring! I think your sessions are way too long, but at the same time PAX 2 should never combust... At a maximum temp of 420F it doesn't seem possible. If I were you I'd contact Pax regarding the combustion issue. They may want you to send it in as it's obviously running too hot. Good luck... Are you sure it was ash??

I'm not 100% positive, but it was scorched black and stuck to the oven/screen. After scraping it out, it was powdery and had a burnt smell. I was vaping it on 4 pedals for about 5 minutes before noticing it was different.

Almost there...
Quick question!!
My Pax2 arrived last night!!
No instructions in the box and the web manual was not a real help either...

A quick press turns the vape on and it flashes purple and then green once it has reached temp.
It also has 4 other temp settings.

My question:
Do you hit it at green?
When changing temps I hold the button in for a long press and you can choose 1 to 4 petals. Are they supposed to flash to indicate the unit is heating up?

Once mine is green I can choose any petal heat and there is no flashing to indicate heating.

I got some pretty good hits just on green but not what I was expecting.
I noticed it works much better packed down firmly and the few hits tasted really good!
Still working my way through the thread...

You've got the basic idea. Long press to get into temp selection mode. Then short press to toggle between temps. Then long press to get out of temp selection mode. Then you will may see it heating up, showing purple. When it is ready the lights are green.

Hi FCers. Looking at buying Pax 2 but curious about any heat realted issues. Watch "waiting To Exhales" review which goes big on it being to hot. And have heard mentions in others ... but haven't really seen that mentioned across the 54 pages here. Everything cool with the Pax 2? Thanks!

Almost there...
First successful session had today!!
Maybe not under the best circumstances ...but anyway we soldier on!
Loaded up my freshly charged Pax2 with medium/fine ground OG Kush.
Took it to work to show a friend as he has a Pax1 and wanted to see if it was a worthy upgrade.
He loved it!!
So we had a session in the car of about 10 minutes.
Turned it off and started the drive home, about an hour or so.
Got stuck in traffic so fired her up again!
This session lasted 30 minutes and i went through all the temp ranges till there was minimal vapor.
Turned off again and allowed to cool for a few minutes.
Fired her up again for session 3, first hit was great flavour again but it quickly left even though the remaining flour was pretty good even on 4 petals!
Did this two more times!
5 sessions on the drive home without any stirring.

Emptied out the oven and found some lighter green flecks closest to the oven door.
The colour getting progressively darker and ultimately it was black closest to the top.
I was very surprised that i did not find the flavour offensive at all as i usually hate conduction vapes.

Had a few more sessions and have found that for me it works best with a fully packed oven.
The flavour lasts so much longer and there is never a foul taste.

When i half pack the oven i get a bad taste pretty quickly for some reason.

This is an awesome portable for on the go maintenance for me.
Size and weight are perfect!
Battery life is seriously impressive!
Performance has a slight learning curve to the correct puffing technique but once mastered the vapour is impressively thick and delicious!!

Very happy with my Pax2!

I wouildn't say my pax2 gets HOT it gets warm after using it on high for a bit, but I've never thought it was too hot. I live in cooler climate so maybe that is part of my experience, feels good to me when it warms up, bonus when it's cold out.

Sorry but the "Wait ToExhale" review is pure shit. Seriously flawed and right before he concludes his stupid effort to make some sense he takes a few minutes to PROMOTE KANDY PENS K-VAPE. He is a FUCKING shill. What worthy reviewer pans an exceptional vape like the Pax 2 only to promote and recommend the kandypen k-vape? He is nothing but a worthless shill and should not be taken seriously.

If you need a 'mainstream well-known reviewer' I feel the vape critic has some worthwhile reviews. Why do you need those guys anyway you have already found FC?

Thanks Stema. So you haven't experience the Pax2 getting hot I guess. The reviewers? Higher google rankings - found them much easier than FC ... which I just stumbled upon yesterday. Buy u r right FC is much better - though I do like seeing VC blowing out the clouds to get a sense of what the units do b4 purchase.

Almost there...
My Pax2 just gets warm during use, even on 4 petals.

I did have a HOT experience with the Pax2 but that only occurs when i hoover vac on it!!
Try a very fast, long inhale and the MP and metal get quite hot.
BUT... this is not how the Pax2 is supposed to be used!

A cigar style puff or short mouth inhales seem to work the best and the vapour is very nice!

The unit does have a very slight smell to it but i have to place my nose very close to smell it!

I was fooling around with the 3 runs this and that way this morning, Pax2 was empty.
It passed the time for a few minutes and i got some crazy swirling light patterns!!

Wow, seriously? He badmouths P2 and promotes a Titan I rebrand?! Where can I see his review? And he complains about heat.... I have a Titan I, after two cycles at medium (380F) at two at high (420F) the mp is so hot you have to use the little rubber attachment that comes with it and then that gets hot after two cycles. Like really hot.

It shocking how many stories I've read about LHS pushing Titan I rebrands, even saying they are better than top-shelf vapes to get that fat profit margin.

I had a chance to try out a friends p2. He bought a new one along with an arizer air.
My opinion only.
It seemes almost a little too small compared to the classic p1.
Could definately could use a rubberized surface somewhere on the body since its so small and slippery.?
I guess with the new charging setup you cant add a silicine skin?
It hit pretty good but there was a little rubbery taste from the silicone mouthpiece when set on medium. Mouthpiece was hot on the lip also unless you draw super slow. And the plastic oven cover seemed strange.
Screen seemed to clog quickly compared to the p1.
I didn't notice any difference in taste than my p1 but I turn my p1 off in between every few hits.
In the end I was still very happy with my p1 and it calmed down my vas.
I think the p1 needed some tuning but instead got a major revision..Whatever.
Have a nice puff.
Ymmv..

I taste absolutely no plastic smell on my Pax and I use a solo as well. I do admit the solo tastes a bit better but not by much, and only in the beginning. The Pax is able to produce tastier vapor throught the whole session, whereas in the solo the taste goes away faster. I love the Pax for going out but when I want to get blasted at home I use the solo and put some CO2 oil in between the bud and attach it to a bong.:leaf::ko:

Thats very good to hear.
It's possible that he has not done a proper burn in.
The unit itself had no taste. It was just the mouthpiece slightly. That will probably go away with time.
One other thing I did like a lot though was the shape of the oven. That can have a big effect on the taste.
I will use his some more.
Thanks.

You definitely should and now that I think back when I first got mine I could slightly sense, and I say sense because I think I smelled the plastic smell but associated it with taste as they coincide, the plastic smell more so than now. It appears as though the smell of plastic is completely gone, and now I only taste the deliciousness of the herb. However, I don't see it ever replacing the SOLO completely.:peace:

I also just read on reddit, that someone used a screen from the Haze vape and that it's working better than the pax 2s' screen. I wonder if any of you on here have Haze screens and could try it out. *COUGH COUGH*

What's wrong with the stock Pax2 screens? In my opinion they work really well..

According to the OP on reddit, "I agree, I put the pax screen in loose for better airflow but I found small particles and the moisture from the vapor clogged the vapor path which would restrict air flow and affect taste. I think the gunk that was building up was actually starting to combust. With the haze CONDUCTION screen, not convection as I previously mentioned. I get better airflow, good vapor production and so far no build up of gunk."

I am about to try it with some other mesh screens that I have and I'll let you know how it goes. I can't do it now since I have to finish studying.

Good to know, I suppose the airflow could be a little better, but I haven't noticed any resin build up in the screen nor any evidence of combustion..

I look forward to your post after you fire up your Pax2 with the Haze screen.

I put the pax screen in loose for better airflow...

I get better airflow...

This is not possible. You cannot get better airflow through the Pax 2 by doing something to the oven screen. The airflow limitation is the oven lid. You can prove this for yourself by simply inhaling at a constant rate with the screen in place while removing and replacing the oven lid. Notice that the flow is more restricted with the lid on. If the oven screen were limiting the flow then there would be no difference.
