The key is pulling straight. It was difficult for me to get the lid off at first
I use an action, at first, more like a hinged clam shell opens, to get the magnet unstuck. Yes, the top also has to go straight up because of the center post.I found it's a less is more situation. If grip it near the top edges and not place my hand over the whole lid it comes off very easy.
Stock bearings are sealed (not sure which ones came with Founders edition) but I don't think water proof: https://www.skf.com/us/products/rol.../deep-groove-ball-bearings/productid-608-2RSLSo I spilled black coffee on my Old Mate Founders yesterday. I cleaned it with water and dish soap. Now it’s not spinning freely. Any tips?
You probably need to lube the bearing with some grease. Can also try with food-grade vegetable oil...So I spilled black coffee on my Old Mate Founders yesterday. I cleaned it with water and dish soap. Now it’s not spinning freely. Any tips?

Is the OG bearing readily available or do I need to order from Australia? That sucks, yeah you're not able to get liquid on the bearing without ruining it, so you should probably swap to a new bearing? (only the fancy ceramic ones can safely get wet and dry without ruining the function)

ok, I found those at amazon. What kind of tool do I need for changing them out?Ben has changed over to using only this bearing, in color black

I think he still has confidence in the originals he was using, but if I recall correctly these have a little more lateral strength.
Sorry, I don't have a link.
