Nausea: The Monster

So, after some post operative NSAIDs (Toradol) I am feeling amazing, but still losing weight (down to 170) and we went out to P.F. Chang's last night. It was amazing to go and just eat like a normal person for once. I had a little pre-meal nausea that I took care of in the Men's room with my new Evolution, and we were off. Vito asked me to eat an egg roll for him. I ate 3 :D I ate a dozen shrimp and had a great time talking to my mom. It was awesome! My doctor said my food is going to be my medicine for a while . . .

I keep meaning to come back to this thread. Glad I got a chance. Vito, I was watching your Wychwood, video from a couple weeks ago. In it, you were standing and look like you had put on a nice amount of (healthy) weight.

Seriously, I had to stifle a tear, you looked so healthy. Hope you're feeling as good as you looked.

(anyone mock my tear comment and I'll smite you! ;))

I truly do appreciate your saying so.. I have gained weight.I am at my healthiest point since surgeries of a few years back. I reached my highest weight in 2 years last week, at 148.

I had to stifle a tear that you noticed~
The nausea still attacks daily, but I stay as calm as I can, well vaped, and eat as many medible snacks as I can get my hands on!

Just so you guys know, my doctor told me Carnation Instant Breakfast is the same stuff as Ensure, but much cheaper since you mix it yourself. I have been using that mixed with a colostrum product with proline rich polypeptides . . . its working, barely, but working :) I can keep it down, taste is not sooo bad . . . glad to hear it sounds like we all might be doing better today :)

I have used Carnation Instant Breakfast, but I'm actually liking the new Ensure Clear much better than the original Ensure. I still have 4 chocolate Ensure in the fridge right now, but they do not sound appealing to my stomach anymore. :(

Not to worry anyone, I think I know what's causing it... but I've been dealing with nausea in the mornings, for the past two weeks. I think its dehydration which is odd for me, because I usually have a very high intake of fluids (2 surgically removed kidney stones brought about that habit). Its either that, or I've been attempting to wean myself off Tramadol. I started using MMJ to help with the pain and it does. So I thought, well... if the doctors won't, I'm going to try and get myself off some of these damn pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately, as my dose has been going down... I'm discovering they work on 2 different kinds of pain. The Tramadol helps with the sharp stabbing pains, which when your aorta is shredded, are pretty common and feel like little knife cuts inside my chest and stomach. MMJ doesn't touch that, but it does help with the back pain, which the Tramadol doesn't do anything for.

Like I said, I think its hydration. I made special effort last night, before bed, to make sure I had fluids and felt not 100%, but a lot better than the previous weeks. But, it was getting to the point, just the act of waking up was making me want to run to the head and do some praying to porcelain. Not related to the nausea, is I seem to have lost any appetite. Even the MMJ isn't stimulating one. I can eat, when food is in front of me, I just don't get hungry. It gets to the point, where I won't notice until the room starts to spin.

I've also been dealing with absolute deflation (no energy) in the evenings. Which of course, would be the case, with nausea and no appetite.

Though, the last couple of months have been extremely emotionally-charged. Hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel comes into view soon.

P.S. Glad to read I wasn't imagining things. Knew you looked better, Vito.

or I've been attempting to wean myself off Tramadol.

Yowzers, good luck man. Been on it for a year and a half, ended up dosing ~400-500mg a day for weeks on end, and then I dropped to 250mg, then 100mg, then 0 over three days. The following week was horrible. Nausea, headaches, random bouts of depression and crying, my pain was bad, I couldn't stand the feeling of my own skin, horrible joint aches and pains... It's the goddamn SNRI part of it. That's the worst. I got used to it and I tapered down to zero in three days, which was NOT enough time but something I had to do. I've been clean of it for almost six or seven weeks now. Finally starting to feel normal-ish again.

I also have pain that MMJ will not touch, and I am also taking Tramadol. My doctor says I can take up to 400mg per day, but I'm taking way less, 3 tablets per day, or 150mg. I have noticed that the using the combination of the two really does help a lot of my pain, but not all.

I don't know how I managed to miss this thread; this is the first time I'm seeing it but I can completely relate to all of it. Especially this part

Pain...haha... bring it on!. I am not afraid.
Neurapathy.. Mind over matter
Spastic Convulsion... what the hell you lookin' at??
but... Nausea...
Nausea you fucking Monster... YOU BEAST....
How I loath you...
I would kill you dead if I could... but I can not see you or touch you... and if you get too close.. I am powerless against you.

This is how I feel too... I have an undiagnosed stomach condition which causes me random bouts of severe nausea and it is the absolute worst feeling ever. Were it not for finding relief in cannabis I honestly think I would have killed myself by this point. Not any pharmaceutics can help me when I am sick; not even 200 dollar chemotherapy medication... sometimes I can't believe a simple survival function of our own bodies can be so detrumental to our lives.

I think I need some space when I feel nausea while on this one, Any solution for me or is this normal because I've only been doin it for several months only.!

Nausea is a very lonely and isolated experience.
One wishes for uderstanding and empathy, but it is hard to tolerate proximity to others.
Needing space during such turmoil is not unnatural.
When you get to feeling better, then you can slowly release your hold on the "space" you have claimed!
Bless you... I hope you feel well~

I agree. I was so sick yesterday morning, and just wanted to be left alone. Couldn't even get out of bed until after noon.

Oh, what a @#$%ed up day. I knew when I commented in another thread about my nausea being less frequent, I was setting myself up.

Suggestion from my mom, led me to believe a lot of my nausea is protein based. She suggested I drink some milk, every night before bed. It actually helps. Doesn't take care of it all the time and if I try to drink milk during the fact, it just makes me want to hurl (sorry for the graphic).

Woke up this morning, did NOT want to get up, already felt sick. Hasn't been a constant, but been coming in quick waves today, quicker than I can really react. Finally got some cereal down and was able to eat dinner, without much problem. Food started to get unappetizing on dinner, but I was already finishing up, so no prob.

Hope its not my usual. Typically, I'll go thru several days of the same crap, before I get some relief.

It's OK to enjoy your medicine.
Feel better soon BDV, nausea just sucks. Since my first surgery and chemo, my stomach hasn't been the same. Milk makes me hurl but a little yogurt doesn't. I think it's the fermentation of the sugars in the yogurt that makes it digestible.

Funny story: They wouldn't let me medicate prior or during my chemo infusions. After a few of the infusion clinic staff got painted with projectile vomit, they were very happy to wheel me outside to hit my Omicron between IV bag changes.

Ever try chewing on raw ginger? Sounds "hippie-like" but it works very fast.

Agree 110% about the ginger, in any form! I've used raw ginger, ginger powder (in capsules) and ginger ale. I honestly cannot live w/o having ginger ale in the house anymore.

I hope you are feeling better BDV. I can really relate.

I also hope you are feeling ok, Vitolo. :)

I am, Thanks!
I am a "Juicer", besides being a vaporist.
I juice Carrot, Beet, Spinach and Ginger.
I do juice other things but not as a "staple".
I buy about a half pound of ginger a month at the produce section of my store.

Buy some Knox Gelatin....
Slice some ginger (I use alot) and boil it in water for an hour....
Strain... add honey, and mix with the gelatin ...then chill.
Ginger jello that can ease nausea.. and be swallowed fast!

Use the slices you recovered to make candy...
lay them on brown paper bag until only moist....
Then roll them in sugar...
then lay them out to dry some more!

Vitolo,

Thank you very much for your jello recipe! What a fantastic way to make a ginger remedy. I may try juicing the ginger to make the jello. I'm heading out to market to get some unflavored gelatin tonight.

It's wonderful to see the community come together to support BDV and each other.
Hopefully BDV is feeling better today!

Warning.....
Boiling a few slices of ginger to make the jello will be pretty flavorful and spicy.
even a small amount of the actual juice can make the jello pretty darned HOT!

I'll have to try the Ginger. Though, like Vicki I fiend on Ginger Ale (gotta be the good stuff though - Werner's at a minimum).

Doing overall better today, though woke up with a touch of it. Luckily, it wasn't so bad. Got up, after 15 minutes or so, wake and vake... good to go.
