That's a good question. I assumed that it would be fine, since the washer itself is a LONG way from the glowing orange tip of the heater element. Without an IR thermometer, I have no way of measuring the actual temperature at the base of the element.

I just spent quite some time putting everything back together, so sadly no pic. I really wish I had taken a pic while I had everything apart. D'oh!

Turn it all the way up for a few minutes, and check if it smells like burning rubber :uhh:

OK guys, seems you were right. When used inverted for an extended period, there is a slight rubber smell. So it had to come out. Now back to being crooked. Need to make a metal sleeve.

You can find food safe, high temp silicon sealer/adhesive that is good to around six hundred and fifty degrees Fahrenheit if you look around. It might be useful in your situation. Good Luck

Well, after a few weeks using the LSV with a M2M and EQ/ELB screens, I opted to buy the official 18mm short WPA which arrived today

 :whoa:

Now THIS is what I'd been looking for! The M2M worked, but I felt like I was introducing too much conduction into the mix. The WPA on the other hand is a whole other beast!

I agree and need to order one from vapornation again now. Though what I'm really stoked about is joining all the @Tweak modders out there! Besides @Tweak @grokit & @Mrmrmrmr who all has tried this beast of a creation I've been calling an LSSV? What do you guys call it? Besides badass of course!

What all do you have on the drawing board for the LSV @Ratchett ? Color me intrigued!

I'm still waiting on @Tweak reports on OGB SSV GonG. Then I will most likely order a SSV heater cover and get my Modding on.

Wouldn't it be closer to Yoda's saber? Removing the heat shield makes it much shorter, :D

Have you gotten your's yet? Hope you enjoy as much as you do your logs. Can't wait for a comparison from a log collector, :p.

Oh my, that gives me an idea. It shouldn't be that difficult to transfer the internals of the LSV into a log body, how awesome would that look, :ko:

Where's the best place I can buy an LSV (without flaws) for cheapest for US shipping?

Thanks!
Talk to @stickstones, he might be able to help you out. I had a great experience with him buying my LSV

Update - still LOVING my LSV WPA - it's so much more fun to use lol. And the taste is SO much better.

Overall, I think the LSV WPA > M2M + ELB, what does everyone else think?

I have been playing with a W9 ti herc coil stretched it out to about 4" long and then rolled that into a ball and stuffed it into a M2M, then I took and basket type screen and loaded it with some shatter. Big rips...

I ordered a fatty wand a few days ago to tinker/experiment with but might have to look at the WPA again now.

IMO, M2M in a claisen > LSV WPA > M2M

Also, did you try lodging a screen in the M2M instead of using an elb?
I never really liked using an elb with the M2M, but having a screen lodged in there has always worked a treat for me :)

Indeed, I seem to like the M2M with an EQ Elbow bowl the best, but I don't like the fact it's nearly impossible to cleanly stir the load in that basket!

@Herb-nerd I'd love to see a custom basket screen somewhere halfway between the ELB screen and the EQ screen

As in not as long as the EQ but longer than the ELB?

I’m thinking of some way to allow you guys to submit ideas and proposals for designs, accessories or alterations.
Maybe some sort of google group where people can submit an idea with a sketch and explanation which would allow me to sift through it all more efficiently.
If anyone has any suggestions just fire me a PM :D

I just noticed last night that I'm missing my 18mm Claisen, guess I need to buy another one!

I honestly tried to get a screen into an M2M but failed miserably lol, I'll have to give it another shot, how deep are you installing the screen?

I have also been loving the WPA. It's great the way you can gently rotate the LSV over your favourite water piece to ensure even extraction. I am so in love with this vaporizer!
One of my combusting friend's who's been on a T-Break for the past month came over last night. I introduced him to my LSV + WPA combo. He wasn't too impressed with my Nano setups, but he was fucking smitten with that setup (he really liked the free rotation on the WPA). Like I swear he wants to buy a blemished LSV as soon as he has the funds

The VapeXhale ELB screens are the deep ones. The EQ screens are the short ones (looks like you got them mixed up)

I suggest cutting the depth of the ELB screen in half. So I measure the ELB screen is about 27mm deep. Let's make the new size around 13 to 15mm deep.

Hey, this gives you guys an opportunity to make your own heady M2M pieces. I'm all about adding that flair to my vapes. I'd love to see you guys start selling M2M adapters with carb holes and colors.

A few days ago while testing the m2m method, as I pulled off my LSV the HC got stuck with the m2m adapter and it came off again. I waited for it to coo down and noticed that the heating element retracted into the base of the LSV at least 2 inches. I pulled it out to where it was when i got it but it seems that it moves in and out too easily. does that happen to anyone else?
At this point I'm so annoyed that I think I've had enough of the m2m method for a while.

Thats ok because I prefer the WPA with crafty liquid pad and no screen anyway. It's a much more pleasant stir than with the m2m and therefore a more evenly extracted abv. I haven't noticed much of a difference if I rotate the LSV when hitting though.

I've had success with placing a bottom oven crafty screen in the middle of the flowers in the wpa as a hat which prevents those dark middle spots.

With the WPA,it's much easier to get a uniform extraction when you can see the material as opposed to the m2m method where you're just hoping.

I have a question, in the m2m method we are housing the flowers in a metal basket (ELB), what difference would it make if instead of metal, we designed a glass capsule that would sit in the LSV's HC?

I think the main issue is that the holes in a glass screen would be larger than a metal mesh, so more plant matter could get through. Maybe you could do a glass screen and put cotton downstream to catch whatever makes it through. A ceramic screen would be another idea, like what Vaporbrothers makes.

Some people are more sensitive to taste that's added from metal in the airpath, I don't think I'm one of them.

Yeah i mixed up the ELB and the EQ baskets

Heady M2M adapters, i like that!

I also experienced this while attempting to mod my unit. If you remove all of the metal clips at the bottom of the element, you can then use pliers and VERY CAREFULLY pry the metal cap off. Then you see that the heating element basically just sits in there, with nothing to really stop it sliding in/out and side to side.

If 7th Floor had just made the internal diameter of the metal cap slightly smaller and the whole part slightly longer, it would "grip" the ceramic rod better and would prevent both issues. By the way, I now have mine so the following is visible: STD-22, then the rest is hidden by the metal cap. Pulling the ceramic out slightly like this allows you to use a lower setting, cos the top of the heater is closer to the herbs.

Hope this was at least of some use to somebody!
