Wow, that low? Does your LSV get hot after prolonged use like many others report?

With the M2M and the Q basket, I'm at 11:00 as well. The rod is barely glowing. But with the WPA, I'm at 1:30 to 2:00 with the rod glowing a bright orange.

I guess it's just another advantage of this setup. Less wear and tear on the heater.

Do we know what the lifespan is on the heater ? I know in Colorado in the 7th floor store there is a ssv that's been on for a good part of this century

Only if I leave it sitting on high heat (umm, maybe past 3:00?) for a prolonged period. Between 11 and 1 (where I use it 99& of the time) it basically just gets warm, but it's very nice considering it's -37c with the wind chill outside. The LSV crushes my Nano as a hand warmer.

That's pretty much my experience too. Once I switch to the M2M with bottom 1/2" screen and not the ELB, I raise the temp to about what you use. Obviously using the EQ basket raise the load closer to the heat, and the ELB does that based on how much is loaded, but also focuses the heat more in the ELB? I'm not sure, but I don't need to only put 1/2-1/2 full ELB in it to work well, like the Cloud. I can actually fill it right up, must be due to the space created by not grinding. This method rocks! I do sometimes raise the temp a bit after i'm halfway through, and the result is perfectly even medium brown ABV. Love it.

I'm not too concerned about wear and tear on the heater, then again I don't think i've owned a single vape for longer than 2 years, and that's even pushing it. The 3 year warranty is more than generous IMO, especially at the current cost of the LSV, and it's so nice and reassuring that the company has been around for so long and parts if needed readily and easily available.

The nugget and crumble method gives great taste at first, too. The crumble with the pick end will get more particulates in your glass. With the wpa I found just under the screen to be a perfect place for some cotton or hemp fiber. With the LSV this filter would be ready for a nice hit in less than ten sessions. I wonder if you could place it like this in the M2M adapter...

That's what I figured, but have heard that complaint tons of times with no explanation. So I'm thinking that most users need to run there LSV at much higher temps or leave it on that higher temp when not in use? Mine barely gets warm at operating temp and I've left it on all day, about half as warm as my nano, but I don't use the metal guard with drilled holes.

I did some experimenting this weekend with a spare 7th floor metal shim. Blocked off around >80% of the air intake hole to finally get some decent results out of my LSV HC, but the extra metal in the air path added too much metal taste for my liking. Still contemplating ordering a new one, don't think I want to move back to a GG joint, I just can't handle the sound of glass scraping against glass, lol.

My glass is staying really clean, but my ELBs get way more destroyed than using them in the Cloud, because i'm doing alot of tamping/stirring/etc. but I have a bunch so it's worth keeping the M2M cleaner. I still need to plop it in a quick iso bath and hot water, but other than the ELBs this has been one of the easiest vapes to maintain. I get less gunk on the M2M, than I would in say the nano gong.

@Tweak you leave the heater cover wide open? So you mean the vape itself? I'm referring to the protective metal covering with drilled holes.

You can actually taste the steel? I figured it was inert and much like glass, tasteless? Would you be able to taste an ELB? I wonder if I could tell the difference between just using the M2M with 1/2" screen, or using the ELB?

I'm extremely sensitive to taste and smells, which results in me sometimes not being able to use vaporizers that others can. I have never tasted anything with my LSV, even when using an ELB.

Swwweeeeeeet!!!! Just found my ONLY Arizer EQ elbow screen! And it's brand new! Fits my M2M like a glove. Time for some more testing! Got the Cloud+ head to head against it!

Well i'm pleased to report that i'm pretty sure that using the M2M with Arizer elbow screen may have to be the new gold standard for me. It works so much better than the cap of an ELB since it actually holds in the M2M joint firmly since they are sized just slightly larger. Further to that, I can load as little or as much as I please, and with the inlcuded LSV pick I can actually stir and tamp with the glass ball on the end. Works amazingly! @lazylathe hooked me up with some sweet measure spoons, so I can load .025, .05, 0.075, or .1g as I please! I'm looking forward to hearing his feedback on saturday! I wanna make sure he gets a proper session, so i'm thinking to start him off with .1g at about 11:00 on the dial with a nice slow pull for FLAVOUR CITY! And then we'll get into efficiency testing.

Also finding it easy to just suck up material through the M2M into the elbow screen. Maintenance is such a breeze as well!

Really loving my LSV + M2M/arizer elbow screen setup through my Weed Star Insane Bell Perc Bubbler! So much fun!

I'm not sure where @lazylathe purchased them from, but they are these:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/MEASURING-SP...377?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5b0b7f84c9

The quality is really good, nice and solid. So basically I measured a smidgen to be .025g of medium/fine ground, a pinch is twice that, and a dash three times. So if I want .1g I do one dash and one smidgen! lol Actually, it's all kinda overkill and i'm finding myself just sucking up through the M2M and can now eyeball pretty darn close how big the load is. I'm finding myself settling on about 1/2 the elbow screen, which I think is about .05g?

How big are your baskets @lwien? You rip 'em in one pull? I'm finding about 2 pulls with a stir and tamp or two, sometimes three hits.

I'm using the Q baskets as well. With a fully loaded basket (no tamping), I can get 4 very nice clouds producing draws followed by 2 more with about half the cloud production. Of course, the variables are, dryness or moistness of bud, potency of bud, bubbler being used, temp settings, draw rates, etc.

I'm having mixed results today with 1/4-1/2 full q basket. Can't get the abv browned and even, even at noon on the dial. I suppose I need to up the temps the less the amount, but I always get worried about a dark spot, because I do take super long rips. Still need to learn this badboy...and continue experimenting!

You are a giant amongst men my friend! Although you would have to be one to hit that machine. Nice creation! Maybe a M2M adapter and some silicone that swagger sidecar on the top, you can put it on the floor and hit it. Seriously though, your tall aren't you?

Lol yes I'm tall but not too sure on the stability of a quadruple stack!

You can also put the Tamer on the other side so it cools before it goes into any water. It's fun messing around...

In the end, I settled on not grinding (use bits and pieces of nugs) and using the M2M with 1/2" screen. I found the ELBs too much of a pain to maintain (soiled quickly), and the EQ screen required grinding and I wasn't getting satisfactory ABV unless the taste suffered.

I'm a taste snob..... how do you guys find the taste of the LSV overall? I definitely don't get the rich taste I would from the Nano at the proper temp, and I feel like the taste deteriorates very quickly.

Hi people,

Please skip the first paragraph if you care little about why I'm here.

I have been lurking here for about 6 months. I recently stopped (for the most part) smoking cigarettes. Looking to stop smoking tobacco almost entirely (I still plan to enjoy the odd tobacco pipe and cigar with friends) I purchased an MFLB about 4 weeks ago. It's ok and I enjoy the high, but more often than not I end up having a j instead of using it. So I figured I wanted something more, after reading loads I considered a Herbalaire but have ultimately decided upon an LSV, as I'd like to use it with water (I have been finding the MFLB a little dry).

It seems there are many fakes now around and some shops, including those in the UK (where I am), have sold them. How can one tell a fake? I have been looking at pictures trying to figure out if the 'bobble' on the wand is a slightly different size or if the difference in finish between the body and heater cover cover (thing with holes in) means much to little avail.

I have searched for a 'how to spot a fake' post or thread but none seem to exist.

In line with the above and what has brought about the query, is that I have found an LSV on ebay. My second question is two fold. Is it ok to buy a 2nd hand LSV and if what I purchase turns out to, say, have a defective heating element, can I get a replacement and fit it myself?

EDIT: I am sure I read a few days ago that someone received a replacement element from 7th floor to fit themselves which is why I ask, but I might be going crazy the amount I have read. Just didn't want it to seem like I'm being lazy.

I am sorry to fire off questions my first post but I figured if anyone would know, it'd be you guys!

Kind regards,

Tom

P.S. Thank you so much to everyone that has shared their views and constructive criticisms in order that us noobs and prospective purchasers might make informed decisions about what we purchase. I, for one, have spent too long using and not thanking people for spending their time, money and effort for my benefit and not thanking them for it!

The fakes are pretty obvious, as the cord is coming out the side rather than the bottom. As far as the genuine article goes, the newer models have the metal strain relief where the cord exits the unit.

Hi Grokit,

Thank you for your response. From what I have seen (and just double checked) on google, the fakes have the cable coming from the bottom and the strain relief. I don't mean to be disrespectful to your knowledge of such matters and will happily post a link, if I'm allowed.

... off to check the rules! (I know, shoulda read before I ticked the box, guilty!)

EDIT: Looks ok, sorry if I am wrong: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/colorful-design-E-cig-mechanical-mod_60008800384.html

Sorry, 2nd edit. Just sitting here wondering if the fakes are mixed with pictures of genuine articles.

Almost there...
@Tomb

I think the fake ones are called Fuzion Galaxy vapes and the cord comes out the side.
Cord out the side, plastic thingy protecting the cord and i giant CE label to the right of the knob.
Here is an eBay link to the fake ones...
