KandyPens Oura

Did you read this thread? I believe 'strong new shoe' odour has been mentioned.

Here it is, on page 1:
Yes, sir. I was going to refer to this as well. I’m happy to report that the odor on my unit quickly wore off. Obviously can’t speak to your unit but I hope it’s the same. If not, hopefully it gets resolved with Kandypens. As far your atomizer getting way too hot, that is concerning. I don’t even use the lower two heat levels because they don’t get hot enough for me. I know at least so far that Kanypens has been good on their warranty so maybe you could get a new atomizer sent to you.

@biohacker @kuzko @LabPong Thanks that’s really helpful I did read through the thread and must have missed that one line. My apologies for repeating info that’s already out there. Appreciate the responses and will reach out to Kandy pens about the atomizer.

Most vapes that have plastic or some sort of hybrid rubbery plastics on the external area...are the cause of most of the "new shoe" smells. But the order has been trapped and held in the packaging till the consumer opens it....so you could even let the vape air out 24 hours before you actually tough it and use it..lol Some will air out quick and not be an issue.....some need some good scrubbing to get it to go away at a decent amount.

No news must be good news? The Carta thread is very busy compared to this...lots of problems over there.:myday:

Yea...I got tired of following that thread because it just kept getting more confusing with all the new parts and never ending problems from many people. Hope they get that thing stabilized and finished in design some decade soon. :hmm:

But yes.....maybe no news is good news on the Oura? Thought I would hear more positive experience from it here. But it did come out well after several other designs in this new category of vapes. Hope the price drops some....hoping I can score a T-giving/black-F sale deal.

anyone still using the Oura? Is it holding up?
Mine is still working great , I had one issue with my atomizer after it’s 1st cleaning . It was not working , kandypens had a new one at my door in 2 days no charge and mysteriously my original atomizer started working again . So I guess not really a issue . Battery life has been great and I’d say my only minor complaint if I had to be honest is if you choose any color other than black , the inside where the glass connects is white and can get some staining that won’t clean , but on the black unit it’s black so it won’t be seen. Not really a issue also as it’s not seen when the glass is connected but I got a little ocd so it can bother me. But the unit itself works great and kandypens has been amazing with any questions and taking care or small atomizer issue . So happy I got rid of my peak for this .

I’ve had mine for a few days, the black unit. I must say I’ve never been a KandyPen fan but they did do a great job on the design and function of this product. I have a Switch, Peak, and CARTA; yet so far I seem to enjoy this one the most. It might be that new toy excitement but this device produce great billowy vapor that’s smooth and it somehow manages to not Chaz, I ran two grams throw it already and I qtip after every use. I’m running it on red and blue setting too. So far that’s been the best part. The CARTA and Peak buckets Chaz easily even if you tip afterwards. I have yet to run the ceramic insert. Battery has been great and the device definitely feels premium. I have a few minor quips, the touch sensitive button placement makes it easy to accidentally change temp or turn off device during use and there’s no vibration to indicate when the temp is reached. The guidebook says wait 5 seconds and it should be ready. Once you get past the learning curve this things preforms with amazing efficiency. I’m getting 4-6 big hits from a dab the size of two rice granules and again no Chaz!

burnt oil that sticks to the sides of the quartz and ruin it
I’m referring to black residue that’s left on the quartz after consumption. It means either inferior product or too high temp burn off. I buy good shit so I know it’s that if there is Chaz either user error or how the unit functions.

My homemade rosin might contain a bit of extra plant material than BHO but it always burns off at 750f+ on my Halo (even with cheap Chinese Quartz)
My cheap Chinese 25mm Quartz opaque banger bucket, Sai quartz and 710coils QB all come up like new with a torch so I think the Oura quartz should too but I do not own one...yet. I am leaning towards this device for something different to consume my rosin (not all vapes can).
I am still a noob when it comes to concentrates...a new frontier for an older consumer.:myday:

So now after so long since the release and people using the Oura for a bit...I am curious to see if there is an excess build up of reclaim like the Carta and Peak seem to have an issue with?

Or does the efficiency of not wasting product from over filling cut this down dramatically so it is not really an issue of wasting material?

Where are you worried about reclaim building up? Here’s some pics of the vapor path after a lot of use and never cleaning. The bowl obviously gets reclaim build up if you overload and/or don’t swab after each load but a small dab just takes a little swab with a qtip.

Thanks for those pics......I am more concerned with build up from the bowl to the little rectangle opening. Basically the places that could be a pia to clean up. I guess I got the feeling that it is an issue after seeing so many pics of the peaks and carta rigs. But again.....yea it depends on how much you load...and how well you keep it cleaned after each use.

That said...yours looks pretty darn clean for a lot of use then!

a new frontier for an older consumer.:myday:

EDIT: I don’t remember hearing about this device, certainly not like the Peak & Carta anyway. I went to their site because Les posted his coupon in the sale thread* and I was surprised to see the list of accolades, features and warranties and fucking shocked to see that it’s handmade in the USA(?!). Just saying, you don’t see a lot of electrickery products actually being made in America in the last few decades. I also confess that I’ve always associated the “Kandypens” brand with cheap stick batteries so seeing the asking price is $350 made me :o & the LE Kandy Apple Red is $380! I’m satisfied being a spectator for the moment, saving every penny for the means to make rosin.

* love the sale thread, tells me that the holidays are coming, including one of the holiest for vaporists, right up there with 420 - BF/CM! I never cared much for this consumer weekend until I found FC. Forty nine years maybe, meant absolutely nothing. Found FC, never been the same.

EDIT: If you didn’t quite get that last bit, I cast all blame for any and all over-spending on my part directly upon FuckCombustion.com collectively and each member individually. Just ask my wife. :D

What does that mean? Lifetime? Whose lifetime?

As long as the atomiser is alive it has lifetime warranty? :D
