KandyPens Oura

Has anyone else had any issues with the oura? I received the oura I ordered yesterday. I turned it on, used it once, then went to restart the cycle and it just blinked red 3 times. All the other functions work fine and it's fully charged. Every single time I try to start the heating cycle it does this now. I'm very confused and sad because I really liked it. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has any input on why my device is doing this!
Lifetime warranty bro

I'm seriously thinking about getting one since my peak died

@Piffdexter "Lifetime" warranties typically don't mean what most people think they mean.

I am not trying to suggest KandyPens won't honor their product and everything they have said so far seems to suggest they will stand behind it and the atomizers. But, the legal definition of a Lifetime Warranty at least in the US is a little anti-consumer and a lot of companies use it as a marketing term.

Most people assume that it means the product will be covered for the lifetime of the buyer. In reality companies are allowed to define the "Lifetime Warranty" however they wish. Some companies only cover the first buyer. Some limit it to the reasonable expected lifetime of the product which could be determined quite low for something like an atomizer or something that contains an internal battery.

It reminds me of the quote from Tommy Boy
"If you want me to take a dump in a box, and mark it guaranteed I will. I've got spare time."

I still don't know what's wrong with it or what might need to be replaced though.

You don’t need to know the exact problem to make a warranty claim. Just explain the issue you’re having and they’ll figure it out when you send it in. Or they might just send you a new one.

@maxvapor710 It’s true that this will be the first known warranty claim of the Oura by a forum member so we will see how the Lifetime Warranty claim holds up but this discussion was had a few pages ago. Someone contacted KandyPens about the warranty and got a very positive answer.

I gotta say, out of the box I wasnt too impressed with the vapor production n performance of this unit. Especially with the crazy thick hits ive been getting lately on my newly rebuilt Peak n Carta attys. But after a few days of getting to know it, n pushing about 5 grams of different trates thru it, I am REALLy starting to like it. I was told taking the quartz dish out n torchin it for a bit would help it contain the heat better. I didnt think that would do anything, but after 3 n half days of using it, then torching the dish, n adjusting the way I inhaled thru it a little bit, now its hitting and milking like a champ!! The 60 second sesh mode is cool too, u jus tap it, it heats instantly, n ur good to go. I cant go on enough about the quality of the base, n how heavy duty n well made this thing feels in ur hand as well.

So here's the deal. Had to call twice because the first suggestion didn't work. So, first they had me soak the atomizer in alcohol all day. That didn't work. Still blinking red 3X when I try to start the heating cycle. So I called again today and he had me try to clean the gold pieces at the bottom of the atomizer and where it connects on the oura. That didn't work either. He said it sounds like a connection issue so they are sending me a new atomizer, no charge and priority shipping. And I must say they have incredible customer service. Both people I talked to were extremely friendly and helpful. Regardless of the issue with my oura, I'd still recommend buying their products. I'm very impressed.

Can you wiggle/pry the pin on the bottom of the atomizer out a little bit? Whenever i experience connection issues on any device that usually fixes the issue

I don't see how them fixing your DOA product automatically equates to incredible customer service. What are you so impressed by? The least they could do is send a $1 atomizer to fix your brand new $350 e-Rig.

Honestly I can't believe FC members are giving this brand another chance after all the glue and stuff they lied about in their last vaporizer release. I remember when we used to boycott brands like this who have done the community wrong.

We should start expecting so much more as a consumer.

I couldn't agree anymore dude, I feel that the bar has been set so pathetically low, but i'm probably just biased and have standards that are unrealistically high for for the current state of affairs in the vape industry!

You must REALLY have a problem with the Peak and Carta if FREE atomizer replacement grinds your gears.

In other news, I had my cousin over and decided to load the Oura up with more Sauce than I’ve ever ever put in it. Like 4 or 5 grains of rice. And it was glorious. We were taking hits on Red and Blue temps. The Blue wasn’t getting too hot because there was so much concentrate in the dish. And the Red was just so smooth. I did get some splatter on the carb cap but not too bad. I’ve still only charged my unit once...

If that's what you actually got out of my post then all I can say is

Literally didn't even mention the devices you referenced.

Also those parts definitely aren't free, those replacement fees are already built into the purchase price. It was pretty obvious the Carta is like $40 at wholesale with the way they send out entire replacement units.

Its not the free replacement of an atomizer that Inverted is lamenting....its the kudos for a company replacing the cheapest part of a $350 device that should have worked in the first place

That and the blind acceptance of a companies word that has shown many times before that it is maybe not filled to the brim with integrity and honesty

Replacing a part, no matter how cheap the part is, for free and promptly, and they were nice about it, is GOOD customer service. I think perfection is too much to ask. Otherwise, there would be no need for “customer service”.

Anything else is just bias against the company on your part based on a previous product. He’s happy... and that right there defines good customer service, a happy customer.

I’m sorry you had so much trouble with one of KandyPens previous products and the customer service you endured in regards to that other product.

Agreed 100%. How can anyone support that company?? If it wasn't the glue scandal, or the Credit card stealing scandal(s) and really wasn't the DOXing scandal... what does it take to consider a company one worth avoiding??

Got a custom cap made for my Oura : https://www.instagram.com/p/B1L_y2AHJTG/?igshid=rkfhkhmvvh7o , getting allot more milk now . Still enjoying this device allot regardless of past issues , I won’t let mistakes from the past stop me from having something that can benefit me . I bought a corvette a few years ago knowing it had a few recalls and a few things the company was not honest about . I wanted the car . No one is perfect . The Oura is not even perfect but I’m liking it for what it’s worth .

I hate to ask this but I saw the reviews and decided to purchase one just out of curiosity. Did anyone else have an issue with off gassing or very strong silicone smell when they first got it. I called Kandy pens and they said there had been no report of a issue and to wipe it with iso which I did but really didn’t help. Maybe I just got a bum unit but it’s not real useable as I get a headache from it.

Also my atomizer gets too hot even on yellow so hopefully they will replace that. I like the build quality and the atomizer seems like it will last but just wanted to know if anyone else had an issue with the smell and what they did about it.

If you notice this taste/smell/off-gasing continuing after a few burn in's and cleaning.....then use it 3-5 times....and you still can sense it. I would ask for a exchange.

But that said, I do not care what vape it is.....clean all vapes and do a few burn offs before using them. Use ISO and a q tip and scrub all surfaces you can in the air and vapor paths.

Did you read this thread? I believe 'strong new shoe' odour has been mentioned.

Here it is, on page 1:

The whole thing kinda smelled like brand new tennis shoes out of the box though. Hope that this odor fades now that it’s separated from the foam packaging.
