My parents tell me to be careful every time I visit NY or the West Coast. Because of all the violent crime. A wonderful example of how propaganda works.

Scary 'ol Commiefornia isn't even in the top 10 most dangerous States. What do all of the States in the Top 10 have in common? Lots of desperation and poverty. That's what causes crime. Not defunding the police or other stupid bullshit. Cops don't prevent crime. Not their job. 50% of the time they can't even solve crimes.

To the folks in all the places on that Top10, big, far away cities are scary places to begin with -- and far more exciting settings for violent tv shows and movies!

I would never claim that cities are perfectly safe. They never have been. But a lot of the pussies who are terrified of cities live in counties where they are more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than they would be in Manhattan.

Personally, I always feel less safe in the middle of nowhere than I do in a busy downtown area. While violent shows/movies often take place in cities, every scary movie takes place in the country. In a rural area I can't help but think "someone could murder me and no one will know for weeks".

Related to Commiefornia not being anywhere near the most dangerous State, despite what your average suburban dummy believes... my home State of Floriduh is ruled by an idiot named Ronnie Desantis. I've heard Ronnie claim that his policy of letting COVID rip through our elderly State was the right move because Florida's economy is doing great, while Commiefornia did communism during COVID, destroying their State's economy compared to Floriduh.

That appears to be a big fucking lie from Ronnie.

Of course Cali has a better economy in general than a State that survives solely on shitty tourism jobs and real estate grifts. But Cali's economic growth was higher than FL's during the very years Gruesome Gavin Newsom was doing Covid-Communism. So what the fuck are you talking about, Ron? Money talks, bullshit walks. By the only metric that matters in our society, Gruesome Gavin is doing a better job than you.

I don't want to blow Commiefornia too hard. It's still very much a Neoliberal Hellhole where the working poor continue to get squeezed so the wealthy elite can get even richer. It's just that most other States are even bigger Neoliberal Hellholes, so a little perspective would be nice.

Musk says advertisers fleeing Twitter is "destroying free speech" in America. Freedom of speech is when advertisers give Musk money.

As Twitter circles the drain, I wonder how Musk is going to use this to bilk the government for money. This Libertarian Hero is maybe the biggest Welfare Queen who has ever lived. None of his companies would be here today if it wasn't for hundreds of millions in free money from the government.

My guess is he'll just threaten to leak the DM's of various politicians from the past decade unless they pass some sort of bailout.

Also Musk is now the CEO of about 6 companies. I guess CEO isn't as demanding of a job as the propaganda claims.

I don't like twiturd or its new topturd IF censorship is being removed and advertisers are upset about it, something else is going on. Anytime advertisers want less people to see thier adds they have an agenda more important to them than thier bottomline.
True colors shown, end of debate.

Lol, they are pulling their ads because Twitter and Elon have become a toxic brand. You will see them return if things settle down. But right now it makes sense to pull your ad dollars away from the site that will show them alongside posts from literal nazis. That is just bad for business.

Literally no publicly traded company on earth has an agenda other than The Money. Their management is legally obligated to act in the best interests of the shareholders. "Shareholder Value" is the only thing that matters in our entire civilization.

No, these companies are pulling ads for Twitter for two reasons. 1) Twitter has always offered the least profitable ads of all the social media giants. And 2) Musk's shenanigans have now made Twitter even more "controversial" than it was before. Advertisers hate controversy. Simple as that.

Important to note: none of Twitter policies have changed after the flim-flam man bought it. There's no more or less "FREE SPEECH" than there was a month ago. The Musk purchase is just generating headlines that aren't "advertiser friendly"

At the end of the day, Twitter content moderation has never been about pushing the Librull Agenda. It's always been about placating advertisers. And no big advertiser wants to see their ad running next to some guy's skull-measuring post or a racial slur laden tirade.

If this whole topic is verboten now, it can go ahead and be deleted. But I thought this could provide a conclusion to some speculation. Lou Paskalis is an advertising executive and President of the largest marketing trade association. Here is his response to Musk's complaint about advertisers fleeing.

Everyone who's ever worked for a corpo can recognize what this guy's doing. It's the passive aggressive "reply to all" on an email chain telling someone to go fuck themselves, but in polite corpo-speak.

Twitter is an awful site, but it is sort of fascinating to see these sort of interactions play out in public. Like seeing Musk haggle with the most successful living novelist about how much he's willing to pay for Twitter Premium, or whatever.

I don't know why he got himself into this situation. I'm pretty sure he could've walked away from this deal by paying Twitter a 1 billion dollar settlement. He's gonna lose way more than that just on the monthly payments servicing the debt. This whole thing will be miserable for him.

I gotta say though, Musk and Zuckerberg teaming up to destroy the two most cursed websites just might be the feel good story of the holiday season.

Oh, I don't think it verboten for us to laugh at these billionaires who don't have a fucking clue!
Elon Musk Appears To Threaten Advertisers Wary Of His Twitter Takeover

Will Elon make a deal with Mike Lindell, sell a shitload of pillows when the legitimate companies walk away?

Elon is also going ahead with the 8 bucks' charge to be authenticated!
Can there even be such a thing as "authentic" on a platform like Twitter?
Nice to be king, you can even be stoopid!

I'm not really interested in he pollyticks of this nonsense. I just find it hilarious that Capitalism's Best Boy is a fucking moron. He spent 50 billion dollars on a business without knowing how he was gonna monetize it. He's threatening to cry in public if other companies refuse to do business with him.

The funny thing is, he'd have less of an advertiser flight problem if he just shut the fuck up.

$8 per month is $96 per year. He'd have to sell millions of these subscriptions for it to even hold a candle to Twitter's ad revenue. And at that point, millions of blue checks would make the blue checkmark totally worthless.

Also.... paying the $8 only gets you... half the ads of a free account. That's insane. Paying and STILL seeing ads?! Mr. "I'm gonna save FREEE SPEEEECH" said he's going to effectively "shadowban" every account that doesn't pay him. So, sort of the opposite of free speech.

Oops! So sorry about that!
One man's poor judgement costs 11,000 people their livelihood.
It's so nice that Mark can man up and accept the responsibility, it means so much! Feeling that way, he may easily dig deep and come up with some great severance packages for everyone. Going into the holidays and all.

Gotta say. Watching American propaganda/accepted wisdom fall apart, very publicly is wonderful. Love to see it.

"CEO's deserve to make 1,000x what their workers take home because they have so much RESPONSIBILITY and take on so much RISK!!!!!"

11,000 people paid the price for a bad risk and none of them are named Mark Fuckerburg.

And then there's South African Harold Hill.

Twitter is rolling out another type of check mark to help distinguish accounts that users actually need to know are real. Although you can pay $7.99 per month for a blue check mark with the new version of Twitter Blue, select accounts for governments, companies, or public figures will get a gray “Official” check mark, according to a thread from Twitter’s Esther Crawford, who is heading up the new Twitter Blue initiative.

So the paid blue check mark is basically worthless. Celebrities and public figures will still have the "real" checkmark. Only the biggest losers on earth will pay $96 per year for the Twitter version of a Fortnite skin. There is zero chance this dumbass idea will solve Twitter's financial woes.

He could've paid a 1 billion dollar, one time penalty to get out of the Twitter deal.

Oh well. I just enjoying seeing in no uncertain terms that the Business Geniuses who rule this country are fuckin morons.

Edit: OOOOPS! South African PT Barnum changed his mind!

I was wrong. This new pay for verification thing is a good business idea.

I can't imagine why advertisers are fleeing this website. Probably the Woke Mafia's fault.

Twitter's Blue Check Verification system is about to have about as much value as a sticker someone hands a child for behaving at the dentist. While we've known about Twitter owner and "Chief Twit" Elon Musk's plan to democratize Twitter by selling Blue verification checks, it wasn't until Wednesday that we understood the true dimensions - or lack of dimension - of his plan.

Twitter's Blue Check will have no discernable verification system besides payment. Here's how Musk characterized it when asked during a Twitter Spaces discussion how Twitter's Blue Check system would work: "Someone has to have their phone, a credit card, and $8 a month. That's the bar."

This means Twitter's existing system for identity verification is now meaningless or at least worthless. All a Blue Check will prove is that you own a phone, have a credit card, and can afford to pay $ 8 a month for the privilege of having Twitter Blue, Twitter's subscription service that's now tied to the Blue Check.

Musk's crystal clear explanation came just hours after a system-wide test - at least we think it was a test - where brands, media personalities, government officials, and others suddenly got a new, gray "Official" Twitter badge. The dull sticker arrived without warning and appeared to be applied somewhat haphazardly. This author had it, as did TechRadar's Twitter account. So did The White House account, but not Vice President Kamala Harris or President Joe Biden.

One hour after those stickers appeared, they were gone.

For all the confusion this caused, Musk's Spaces conversation proved illuminating. The Tesla CEO has clear goals for Twitter like, "Moving civilization in a positive direction where people think is a good thing for the world, and the evidence for that will be new users signing up and more people using Twitter for longer."

And yet, so much of what Musk is planning for Twitter sounds like a big experiment. Musk said he understands how some people are taking a wait-and-see approach but insists that the best way to understand what's happening with Twitter is to use it.
