Well folks I have had a couple of days with my demo beta INH05..... There are a great many things to mention and comment on.... so should I pass over something of interest to you....I trust you will post and ask to talk about it.....
OK I know one of the biggest issues that need to be addressed was reliability...and in my mind that was largely do to the USB failures... well my beta unit had only 3 of the steps taken {production will have all 4} to address these issues.....and I must say.....they did a fantastic job....I am extremely confident that we will not be breaking anymore USB ports......YEAH...!!!
The 4th step my beta unit didn't have or should I say had but the switch manufacturer is fixing the clicks to make them a bit more pronounced...... my clicks are very soft.....and I don't believe my switch knob had the stops...... which could be viewed as a 5th measure actually.....
I did also have a small mishap with this prototype switch..... it had developed a poor connection at the contacter arm..... I cleaned it and greased it No worries.......
Accessing the battery and all that worry of being fragile.....completely GONE.... the switch knob popped right off {no knife needed} the ribbon cable has been cleaned up and reduced width...the new notch along the inside makes removing the switch assembly...nothing...so easy....and no worry of damaging it.... the only concern is the ribbon cable being tucked in and the knob being aligned to accept the switch actuator.... I'm told that could crack the switch itself..... but really this wasn't that hard either..
the new PBT bodies have reduced the weight by 15 grams...... it is very noticeable when it's in your hand for sure..... at 1st I took this to almost give it a cheaper feel...especially since the top and the bottom switch knob are recessed now so the cover will snap in nicely.....all of that IMO took away some of that sturdy feel the XP has....
The ring at the top is gone and about a 1/4 of the switch knob is trimmed off and now recessed... but after using it and see the improvements on the inside.......VERY NICELY Done.......Indeed.....
The heating chamber redesign.....1st my retraction....the sensor has not been embedded in with the element.... however the layout has been redone to better distribute heat to all areas of the capsule... on my beta unit however there was milk chocolate {1/4" almost} at the mouthpiece end of the cap.... I was assured that this had already been identified and was being adjusted for perfection in the production release....
I've gotten a good look at the inside Heating chamber improvements.....VERY NICE.....clean well thought out......and so far no signs of scorching the cap.... my XP always starts forming 2 scorch rings in all my caps.....
Taste does seem to be improved.....which I'm sure has something to do with a more evenly distributed distillation process and no sign of scorching so far......you still can't let her sit too long or she will singe your herb...I'm sure we have all experienced it by now....talk just a bit too long and .....whamo instant burnt popcorn......{I wish they would address that issue} anyway noticeable improved taste....
