Discontinued Inhalater INH05/5S/6

I go where the thrills are
It's a Hybrid with a primary focus on conduction...and a secondary convection booster as this design offers additional air warming chambers to aid in the vaporization process....:peace:

On paper it looks like mostly conduction. But it doesn't seem to cook material very much when left on...which for me is a hallmark of conduction. It also has a few other characteristics of convection...like the second and third hits being larger than the first (as convection takes a hit or two to warm the material). Also the weird material that the capsule sleeve is made from doesn't seem to heat up enough to conduct heat passively.

I think, quite happily, there's more convection going on here than you might suspect after a cursory glance at the design.

There is no heating element to see.
There is a slick walled chamber, with a screen at the bottom.
There is no mess.
Inhalater is so much neater and cleaner than my PNP.
The capsule is bothe the mouthpiece and chamber... and it serves as the pinnacle bullet would, only mouthpiece is already attached.
Same reason I got rid of my PNP.. it doesnt hold a candle to the 04 OR XP lol

It's a little disheartening to see so many people jump to Inhalaters defence when their customer service is so atrocious. Yes they're a small company and they're working hard but that doesn't excuse it. Perhaps instead of moving into a swanky new office they could have hired some more help?

I've been lurking in this thread for months now, excitement building. I jumped on the indigogo campaign pretty swiftly and not long after I managed to talk a friend into doing likewise. We read of the delays, disappointing but what can you do? We both received the colour choice email a month ago from Frederick, started to get pumped again! I replied and asked to double check my address, no reply but didn't think too much of it.

Inhalater announced they'd start shipping soon so I grabbed the contact email from their website and again asked to confirm my shipping address. No reply. Five days later my friend received his tracking number so I emailed again, still nothing. He now HAS his inhalater (which I talked him into purchasing) and I can't even get a reply. I'm 4 emails deep and I've finally quit my lurking in hopes that I'll get a response on here.

I've tested his 05, it seems to work very well and I'm jealous! Seriously guys, please get back to me. This is to the point that I'd just like the order cancelled, it has gotten ridiculous. To all the people blindly defending this company, please keep in mind that others experiences may vary drastically from your own. I run a small business myself and I sometimes forgo sleep to reply to emails. It sucks but that's what you have to do to succeed.

welcome aboard, however some may frown upon your first post being a complaint. just a heads up.

you will get your 05. and you will love it. waiting sux yes. do u have another vape to keep you vaping until then...?

Yes, it's too bad you and some others haven't had the responsiveness you'd expect from a typical service oriented retailer. I've had 4 of my inhalaters needing repair/replacement and have waited several months collectively over the years. I don't gripe about it here beyond just mentioning since I (and maybe others) don't come here to read complaints about service or delays as only the company can properly respond to that. I come here to share PRODUCT information. How it works, tips, tricks, weaknesses, collaborate on future feature wishlists, and generally help each other. Inhalater has adopted features based on feedback here, which keeps me interested in participating.

Regardless of the experiences of obtaining it, we can't let the emotion of frustration cloud our judgement by painting the product with the same negative brush as we'd use for their operations. i.e. I love my car, but hated dealing with the stealership I bought it from whom I'll never deal with again. But what I went through to obtain my car had nothing to do with how it performed once I received it. The experience may have been good or bad, but in the end the car performed regardless of what I went through to get it.

Once you manage to get yours somehow, (albeit with the frustrations mentioned), you WILL love it as most do. Sure there are a few detractors around here, but sometimes people get so frustrated with bad experiences and/or a lack of patience that they want nothing but to repeat negative comments about the company, it's product, image, everything.....a vendetta of sorts. Unfortunately, this is human nature in some cases.

When I was waiting for my new car, at times I wanted to cancel, scold them, publicly embarrass them somehow into submitting to my will, but eventually that feeling passed once I was enjoying my new car.

Same deal with my inhalaters, and most any revolutionary new product...they're hard to get, Q/A issues, delays, etc, etc. but that's what i signed up for. Maybe the difference was that I was prepared for the pain to obtain my gain, and am glad I ventured down that tough road as the reward was sooo worth it to me.

So yes, this hot new product is very in demand and hard to get as there's only once source. Everyone has the freedom to pursue it, or get something else, or wait for full production and deal with a retailer.

The choice is yours....govern yourself appropriately.

What would you guys say is the approximate wait time between ordering and actually getting the INH05?

Edit: I must be the biggest sucker in the world. I removed my comment because
@Inhalater replied to my latest email again with a personal email stating the same thing that I've gotten from them over and over. Why do I want to keep believing them?

But to answer your question.......a long time. Wait for it to hit retail if you want to save yourself some headaches.

I go where the thrills are
After living with the INH05 for 3 days I feel ready to share some early thoughts. (I know from experience that a month from now I may change my mind about almost everything.) I agree with most of what others have written about the device, but here are some of my observations. I'll start with the cons so I can end on a positive note...

CONS:

1. Let's start with that battery recharge cycle. I have never seen anything like this. You're lucky if you can get a full charge in 12 hours. More like 15, even on a ipad or iphone block directly into the wall. What's worse, you can use the thing for five minutes or so after a full charge, hook it back up to the charger...and five or six or even ten hours later the charge light is still not out. As if it takes almost as long to charge from 80% to 100% as it does from 0 to 100. (Oddly, when I first got it, it charged in like two hours. It must have been at 90 plus.) In any case, the recharge cycle is seriously broken.

2. The vapor is hot. With the regular capsule, it's too hot above 6 unless you mix in some air as you draw. The regular capsule mouthpiece also gets quite hot at times (one of the "hygienic" tips would fix that). But the capsule with the drilled hole pretty much solves that problem. You get a nice mix of air and vapor, and though it feels like an airy hit, you still get huge hits if you want 'em.

3. And yeah, the service...I think they are good guys with an excellent, first-rate product, but I just get nervous at the prospect of having an issue that requires sending anything back to them.

BUT ON THE PLUS SIDE:

1. Very stealthy. Looks like a pen or a flashlight and if you tape up that LED it's even stealthier. Very little odor while it's on...there's a bit of conduction happening but it's very minimal.

2. No learning curve. Like NONE. Think the Solo is easy? Even with that you usually have to tell someone "suck on it like a thick milkshake" or something. Not this. Hit it slow or fast or deep or shallow and the thing just pumps out vapor. I've never used anything even close to this easy or technique-free. You may experiment to find what you like best, but you won't fail to pull lots of vapor right away.

3. The temp dial is really cool. You can get low temp vapor and move up the scale or whatever you like. I find starting on 5 is perfect, but I definitely have it up to 8 or even 9 to get full extraction.

4. Nice extraction without having to stir....maybe once in a session it helps to empty the capsule and stir, but if you start with a fine grind there's really no reason to play with it at all. You can load and ride the temp dial all the way up and not take the capsule out. I got dark, dark brown at level 9. As much extraction as you could want.

5. The flavor is good, but not great. Definitely behind the Solo and way behind the FF. The vapor path is just too short...the heat source is like right under your nose. Not a big deal, it tastes way better than other portables that rely purely on conduction. (Guess this is a pro and a con in a way.)

6. Cleaning...the device itself basically stays clean; material doesn't touch any of it except the small screen at the bottom of the shaft; otherwise material stays in the capsule sleeve. (The capsules are kinda weird, and that space-age polymer sleeve thingy seems very flimsy, but it also seems to work really well.)

Overall...a pretty amazing device. Light, stealthy, portable, holds a fair amount, variable temps, puts out vapor like nobody's business, anyone can use it right away...the battery charge is nuts and the company's service is hair-pulling at times, but damn, this thing is very cool. I personally will use it mostly out of the house and on-the-go...I still prefer the FF for flavor around the house when I have the time to play with it. But I likely won't leave the house without this thing. It is pretty damned cool by just about any vape standard.

Two postscripts...

I didn't get my five free capsules per the FC discount. Frederick was very responsive and said they'll send them out...but you never know with these guys....and....someone was looking for pix of the little heating area, so here's two that give you a decent shot...it's a narrow shaft with a screen at the bottom, and the capsule sleeve slides in there...but you can see how clean it is, after several days of use and no cleaning....

i just had an amazing session with my 05. half packed with some real nice, dial at 9 (i know!) and lookout. straight milkin glass. wow. im talking Q2 XP beastery here. abv looks exactly as it should.

heat up time is very quick, but i still say my LED go solid a bit early. no worries. i wont be using 9 like that very often, but its nice to know shes got the power under the hood.

cawshook

Solod out.
I feel comfortable using it in public. More comfortable than smoking a joint or any other portable I've owned. Reloading is practical, especially with extra capsules. Long battery, I got six sessions at 7 easily, one user said it'll go ten sessions. So far, its fulfilling what I need out of a portable. As long as it doesn't stop working, I'm very happy.

Just wondering what type of grind you use (or anyone with the 05, really) and grinder? I've only tried a medium grind through my SCS so far and it takes a couple of hits to see vapor each session.

yep. see your LED is going solid before its optimally heated up (could be wrong). you will get some flavor and light vapor, but if you wait another 30 secs after the light goes solid (maybe 40 secs) your first pull will be full. at least that is what i have experienced so far.

going to take another for the team right now before bed. will report back.

btw... i use a medium "shred" from a 3pc (screen section removed) SCS.

I always go for a powder-like grind. The extraction seems better this way to me.

not a bad idea, but i would opt for a slightely tighter mesh screen in the capsule. i arealdy get bits from a med grind. i cant imagine what a powdery grind would be like...?

I don't understand this. This is a matter of simple physics. The battery has a certain capacity, probably around 3000 mAh. Charging from a computer USB port is at 500 mA, so from completely flat it should take about 6 hours. That's the slowest way to charge that I know. A 10 hour charge at that rate would mean a 5000 mAh battery. Such things do not exist. The Apple wall wart puts out about 2 A so if my guess about the battery size is correct, it should charge from dead to full in about 1.5 hours or so. 10 hours at that rate would mean a 20000 mAh battery.

It seems to me that what is broken is the logic behind when to turn off the charging light, but that would mean the battery would behave as if it had a full charge after 2 hours on the Apple wall wart (because it does). Is this not the case?

I suspect the onboard charger is trickle charging. My friend's and mine both take very long in the 005, but in my external charger it takes 3hrs when set at 1amp, and about 6hrs on 500mA, so the batteries themselves seem ok. We even get over 10+ sessions on a full charge.

Whatever amperage is supplied, it seems the onboard charger is only letting in a fraction of it, but am hoping Inhalater can provide the definitive answer.

Just wondering out loud ...
Could it be a defect or design flaw within the inh005 itself in regards to the
charging process ?

because this long charge up issue has been brought up by several different owners using different laptops and wall sockets .

edit ; I like what HerbalHealing said ...

I don't have a clue what's up with it. I don't have an external charger to do a comparison. Having read a few caveats about the fragility of the battery assembly, I'm frankly wary of even playing with it. One of the only things I didn't test on the INH so far.

EDIT: just noticed you said you get ten sessions from a full charge. Anyone else have any info on charge length? If that's standard, that is seriously impressive....90 minutes of use.

I agree. I hadn't considered the difference between charging in the 05 vs. an external charger.
