Just a little update from latest experience with hopper.
I sent my io backend (which was shorting out ) back to USA from Scotland on 14/07/21. I received a new backend on 04/09/21. Titanium, which was what I sent, great condition, turns smoothly, all good.
Used it with CBD last night worked great,
THC tonight and great again.
Postage cost me £ 15 / $ 22.
No custom charge ( grey card ) or handling fee either on items return.
I bought my io knowing the risks, the lack of cs and delays. But I think all in all it’s bn not too bad, Emails were answered, not always quickly but they were answered.

My original backend never felt as smooth or as secure as this new one so hopefully it last longer than the five months the original did.

Also too add during initial exchange of conversation I asked if a back end could be sent while mines was on the way to them they said yes but this never happened.

Just thought I would share.

I live the next town over from hopper labs and same deal. I send my IO back end in and turned around 1 month smooth as ice now. I have been using my blue IO for about a year with no issues. Hits like my Sublimator but as with the Sublimator it is good to clean thoroughly the chamber and PFE regularly to keep flavor intact as well as function:tup:

A year?? I thought you got that blue IO only like recently some months ago when they began shipping finally from the pre-order...?

Let me check...you’re right mar 26 so 6 months. I must of been thinking bout my preorder green TI hopper that’s never had an issue since 2013, 8 years, and ghb3 batts make her that much sweeter!

Speaking of cooling options:
(the preview is not showing the actual post I am linking to by the way, click the link and it will take you to the full relevant post!)

It actually makes for a solid handheld, a little awkward but okay, have not tried it with water yet since it is really hard to get the water out, with the anti-spill multi chamber design... More than fine for like $15 though!

I have had good luck with saturating the back end with WD40 Specialist contact cleaner. Hold the button down and make sure it gets inside and then turn the dial back and forth to clean the contacts. Then blow it dry and wait a while for the insides to dry.
I recently used the WD40 specialist contact cleaner on my original Ti hopper doing what you said above, I also put a small amount of Vaseline / petroleum jelly on the back end threads after I had cleaned them with blu-tac, my unit is working great no hot back end and no miss clicks.

So, I had an rma that came back combusting and a few days later the clicker (using with another body) wouldn't turn off. HL told me to send in and they would recalibrate (which I doubted).
The returned body was not the same as I had sent (it was actually cosmetically a bit nicer) and, interestingly, the clicker is in the low 400's s/n, as have been the previous two clickers.

It has been working great, so I've been happy and using regularly. Now, couple of weeks in, the temp dial is very tight and it's starting to do the odd behavior where the lights come on if you look at it funny, or sometimes the unit will not power off without clicking repeatedly. I had wanted to avoid the contact cleaner soak, but I may have to do that.
Meanwhile, wife's io runs like a champ at 9 months (temp dial very tight on this one, too). Mostly for this reason we tend to just leave both io's on temp 4.

***
Curiosity;
How high do the serial numbers reach, on SS io's?
One of ours is low 400's, the other is low 500's.

This would ruin it for me. Currently getting an excellent 10 hits per load. Probably can only do this with premium sativa having excessive amounts of terpenoids, starting at level 1.5 and progressing to level 5. It always takes 3 hits on 5, regardless of how many I got at lower temps. The ability to advance the temp, to keep getting better hits, is the genius of the io IMO.

My SS io came with serial #HS000218 in August 2020, but the back end failed in November 2020. The replacement back end has serial #HT000621.

For the first 11 months, my io would take a charge willingly, almost any time. Then I got what I suspect is my first genuine GBH3 battery, a few months ago. Now the io is very particular about how and when it charges. At times it will only begin charging after 4-5 hits and when I hold it. It will stop charging when I put it down. I'm a registered engineer, so I know there's a simple explanation. Evidently my conductivity grounds the body, I can feel the body is electrically charged when I touch it, but not understanding exactly why this would cause it to accept a charge. It's possible that disrupting the magnetic field somehow does the trick. Oddly, after a few minutes I can set it down and it will continue until fully charged. My precious seems to have a mind of its own....

All who wander are not lost...
Gotta say my 12+ month old TI IO keeps rocking. Nary an issue in all this time. Some of my older batts can’t power it well (they’re labeled and rotated of course -> OCD :) ) but with newer batts I still get clouds on every draw. One or two draws and I’m good and on my way. It’s still my favorite on-the-go vape, and I only have portables too. Good to also start the day and weekend with. Yeah, I’m good now :). Weekend regards to all. :peace:

Grabbing a pre-owned IO to take for a spin. It's coming with 5 batteries.

I know to be sure to look for tears in the wrap but, besides the GHB2 or GHB3 markings, is there anyway to tell the age (or quality) of the pre-owned batteries?

Hopefully it works correctly. If so, you should enjoy it. But I have to ask, are warranties transferable?

If the batteries come with no documentation you might need to test them. Hopefully a couple are the newer GHB3s. You can use a multi-meter for a voltage test, might be able to rule out the bad ones. The first battery that came with my io was labeled GHB2 but it still works more than a year later, so you never know.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I've owned a couple of OG versions of the Hopper in the past so I know it's a roll of the dice. The IO will be new to me. It's a reputable seller I'm familiar with so I'm confident it was working the day he mailed it at least!

Good question on the warranty transferring. It's been a couple of years since I've had one. Back then they did transfer for $45 or something but who knows now? I don't believe he's registered it though. It's something we're trying to figure out now

Given everything seen from HL it would be a surprise if their asset tracking is going to prevent any random person from registering a previously unregistered device. Worse case you may need to supply the associated email address of the purchase account and declare you no longer have access.

Part of the fun with sorting out warranty is the back and forth of registering the device as the process requires a code from a label never printed. Plus there is a chance you will hear radio silence after you spend the time and money to post back a faulty item, which is where I'm at now - I better ping them.

Holy moly, how fu*king hard io can hit. I came across a very good piece of indica, and I thought about spending the evening with io. After the hit, my eyes really darkened. Very dense clouds with a clear taste. A little time and now I'm already sitting on the couch and trying to write something here. io is real ripper

Evaluating some pre-owned GHB2's.

Have just 1 battery with a shiny wrap. Anyone recall recall how old a specific batch with a shiny wraps might be? The rest of what I own are all matte finish. Thx

Nope. I sent a couple to the recycle bin when they obviously failed to avoid confusion, put in-service dates on others. I currently have 3 batteries with a matte (??) finish, one is a 3-month old GHB3. I think I remember tossing a bright blue one several years ago, that one should be an older model. If you don't have a volt meter or multi meter, stick 'em in the io and see if they'll charge. Be sure and mark the best one, if one turns up. As I mentioned, my io came with a GHB2 but there was a note implying it is really a mislabeled GHB3. Your io should have come with a GHB3 as well.

IMO it's best if any/all spare batteries are fully charged and ready to go at any time in case of emergency.. 👺

If I remember correctly the last shiny produced were in mid 2020. They were a manufacturing error in a small batch, one the first batches produced after the fire, which was 2019.
It could be one of those, or else it's really old now.

Im back! Update on my warranty claim for my grey Ti io that stopped heating up after 2 months of use.

After a couple weeks of radio silence from hopper labs, after having been told that my order “would likely ship next week!” they finally responded that my replacement had been sent. Joy! Super happy ill finally get to use it again after a 2 month waiting period!

Is what someone would say if they were dealing with any other company. Nope, my hell shall continue.

1. The replacement they sent me doesn’t fit the back end that I have. It’s like the threads are to small, my backend doesn’t screw in all the way.

2. It’s not even grey! It’s fkn plain! I suspect it’s not even the Ti version and they sent me a SS one, which is why my backend doesn’t fit ( This is my theory)

God Why did I choose to play russian roulette with the most incompetent company in the world??? I should have bought from another company, I hate hopper labs with an absolute passion, I will never buy another product from these thieves again. I’m convinced that half the posters here are hopper labs employees just keeping up appearances so they can keep selling their shitty unreliable product.
