I tried years ago fritted glass screens, for vaping, combusting, and some direct torch dabbing, like healthstones style.
Not worthy imho & experience.
For example, regular glass screens, with bigger holes, like the ones used on NV FP bowls, tend to get clogged very fast, and the holes tend to be annoying to get completely cleaned, unless you take your time or you’re very concise and consistent. In the end, most of the users placed an extra regular SS or Ti screen on top, so to prevent them holes getting so dirty so fast and easy.
I remember fritted screens or filters getting extra dirty way way faster, and taking way more time and dedication to cleaning rather than enjoying.
I’ve seen fritted filters/screens more used at industrial kind of uses. Where harsher conditions and cleaning agents can be used. Or directly be disposed/trashed after heavy use, and replaced with a new one.
Porous fritted screens will also stain easier, and oils and ABV dust will remain stuck for longer at their tiny porous holes.
YMMV.
By the way, we have a crazy glass blower based here at Portland, Oregon, crazy curmudgeon, that wanted to “patent” fritted discs as his own percolating system in his own rigs.
Rooster Aparatus is his brand.
It never worked well, it’s hard to apply since it’s already porous and not easy to attach/melt to solid glass.
And unless you buy the bowls with the fritted discs already fused as a regular screen, I really don’t see the point of trying to fit a fritted disc in an Herborizer bowl.
Fritted disc screens are rigid. They’ll crumble or break if applied certain pressures on certain points.
You’ll need extra tolerance to fit a fritted screen in a bowl, if you want it to be removable for easier cleaning, and that will leave extra room around the circumference of the screen, allowing lots of unwanted grind weed or ABV, or ABV dust. Everything will be dirtier than before.
Or you’ll need to place a finer metal screen under, to prevent that dirt running straight to your rig. Or prevent them from wobbling on top of the glass nipples, that prevent the metal screens from falling down the bowl while unloading the ABV. Makes sense???
Imho & experience, fritted discs are a waste of time & money as direct screens, where direct ABV or heavy oils/vapors are being produced/heated/filtered/vaped.
It’s already been proved and proven.
Many people have tried this before, and failed.
If it worked, don’t you think we will be seeing them already a long time ago???
I’d totally save that money for more Herborizer bowls or injectors or stands.
Stay vaped.
Mantente de la mente!!!
