I want a BCG just worried about the aluminum. Do you still have to worry about flaking/chipping/anodizing peeling with the 7075 used in the BCGs?

I don't worry, I wouldn't call it flaking, or chipping or peeling, but yes the anodization does wear out to show the raw aluminum beneath the color in a few places... It is normal wear and tear, better than other aluminum grinders in my experience, but yeah that's why steel should be ideal... Personally I would get a factory second aluminum in the meantime though (the BCG is just so much better functionally and beautifully that I don't mind the aluminum, I prefer it to other steel grinders personally)

I just think SS might be better

As long as it is 316 grade, 304 S/S can 'pit' with resin contact...my CVault has 'rusted' at the spot welded areas.

I've now seen two posts saying the Flower Mill is better for dry weed

It is called a honeymoon period with a new device...most prefer the BCG

Also, with the 3-piece, you can't overgrind it

But you can turn it upside down to get a finer grind if needed for certain applications

I have now given away all my other grinders (even my trusted 88mm SpaceCase) now I have the large BCG and would only replace it with a larger version if it was ever made...the stainless steel version might tempt me if it is 316 and is big enough.

I was one of them, FM is collecting dust now. BCG needs less cleaning and grinds sticky weed much easier.

Yeah, I don’t use aluminum under my arms either. Though I do occasionally use it during shaving for weepers.

Circulation may not equal causation with heightened aluminum blood levels. But I’d just rather expose myself to less aluminum.

Yeah, unless you had a really bad grinder that constantly shed filings (and probably not even then) the amount of aluminum you might get in your ground goods are unlikely to be truly unsafe. That being said, given how much effort I exert to keeping my vapor path only glass, steel, and Ti, reducing any potential of getting aluminum filings in my goods is only a positive. Would I change to a wood or plastic grinder to accomplish that? No, I wouldn't.

I still have not cleaned my BCG yet and it still cuts through buds like a hot knife thru butter.
I have been tempted to get a fine and coarse plate for it but I am pretty sure the medium plate is about perfect for all my vapes...maybe a conduction junkie might need the fine plate but I am more convection orientated myself.

Sodium and potassium are both on the top 10 list of common elements on the planet. Both are needed to live. Both can kill you if you take in too much. That is based on clear scientific data. Aluminum, only correlates to medical problems, no proof of causation.

I suppose we all have to choose what we do with our bodies. I just try to limit my exposure to some degree. Especially if viable alternatives are out there.

So I decided to wait for the SS Factory second BCG to be released for my “endgame” grinder. In the meantime I ordered a hemp SCS 3 piece for $20 shipped. I’ve heard good things about it, including that some people like the grind better than the aluminum SCS. I talked with the team over at SCS and they assured me that it is made from 98.4% hemp and the other 1.6% is a filler (they can’t tell me exactly what it is for their own reasons) but assured me that the filler is non-toxic and that if a little piece were to break off and get vaped (which they assured was extremely unlikely) it would be safe. So for $20 I took the plunge and will be holding out for that SS BCG!

I’ll see how this one functions and the durability first. I’ll (try to remember to) report back next 4/20 and see how it’s holding up after a year. FC needs a RemindMe! bot lol

So, the BCG came today. Factory Second but you would never know it.

It is really cool looking...so much so there has to be something else I can do with it. It would be perfect for a BDSM venue! Better than nipp$e clamps. Just a thought! :-)

I want to say that's more like milling, so more like the Flowermill. I might try that since my Flowermill is still out of commission due to the aluminum dust issues

That actually looks just like the GR8TR to me, not the FM since it does have teeth still (I absolutely hated the GR8TR V2 when I tried it for whatever that's worth)

Stainless steel BCG sounds appealing! It's just that I kind of dislike regular (and larger) sized grinders. I don't grind too much at a time out of fear the herb deteriorating more rapidly, same way I like to make my coffe from freshly ground beans. I own 3 grinders, all ss, and I've only really used my herb ripper mini for this reason. I find the larger (or actually medium) grinders are a bit annoying with smaller loads. Still, ss BCG, appealing....

I'm nor sure if they can sell that thing in italy and maybe that's why it's out of stock for me.
