Tonight I am testing the first somewhat final prototype, this is with 18" / 450mm of cable which I think should be enough for most users. If we need to go any longer we might have to boost the power supply a notch to account for the voltage drop.

On another note, I have a few samples of the cable sheathing coming in later this week in a few different colors to spice it up a little bit so we will probably make color choice an option when submitting the final payment.
If you guys have any colors you would really like to see, let me know.

Personally, I should think that 18" is more than enough.
Just wanted to let everyone know we are still waiting on one of the components to arrive in quantity, namely the "dummy battery can" which unfortunately had to be manufactured in China and was promised to be delivered before the Chinese Holiday.
We have an alternative solution in-place that works just as well using a 3d printed part which we can manufacture in house. If we are delayed more than another week or two we will proceed with the backup manufacturing and units should start arriving to customers mid February.
You can expect an email from us within the next day or so to choose your cable color selection and complete the purchase.

I should probably preface that by saying our 3d printed parts are not what most people are used to, we use an industrial grade SLS printer which turns out parts which most people would have a hard time distinguishing from an injection molded part with a matte finish.

I think I have found a solution to power it via USB-C using a ZY12PDN PD Trigger
Really neat, you can select it to output 12V from a USB-C PD source. It will be limited to 5A, but at 60W and via the 4.2V kit adapter, it should at least power the OG GH I guess.

@MoltenTiger you should have more than enough power with 12v @ 5A on the supply side once the step down takes place.

That's a serious amount of drive for this heater, maybe 50+ chambers.. and powering it like this, every hit will be 11/10 power. This adapter is actually so sick
@MoltenTiger I don't have the exact numbers offhand, but I have seen ~4A draw on the supply side with a Hopper purchased in late 2019.

I've got the trigger on order, as well as a power meter. It'll be interesting to try. To boost wattage, could possibly drive it at 15V... might not be good for the components or work with the turns ratio ?
The PD trigger can handle 5-20V and 0-5A, PD standard commonly lists 12V3A as the measured rate. Not sure if the unit would just deliver more power on demand or what the limit is. I'll have it plugged into a 65W ZMI QB823, hope it works. Pretty easy charging cells with the Xtar and it if not, but I'm really loving the idea of constant 4.20V POWER

The SLA looks good, I'd opt for that for the enclosure and dummy battery. Plus Carbon-51 braided sleeve.
